Skelaxin dea schedule

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin dea schedule

skelaxin

Avatar f tn t be confused by the term scheduled drugs. This is how the DEA classify different narcotic type medications or a better term might be the most addictive and abused medications. Formal Scheduling The Controlled Substances Act (CSA) places all substances which were in some manner regulated under existing federal law into one of five schedules. This placement is based upon the substance's medical use, potential for abuse, and safety or dependence liability.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Just received notice from another that hydrocodone may be moved from schedule III to schedule II. Just saw DEA proposed rule. What sort of implications will that mean for pain management? I am on Norco 10/325 and my quality of life will be majorly diminished without the meds if I cannot obtain a prescription from the doctor that has been writing me this script for so long. What will happen? Has anyone else been feeling the effects?
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
372416 tn?1242665752 Yeah that's sounds like a good idea because I don't know either. I do know that Oxy's are considered Schedule II, but beyond that I have no clue. Good question though!!
198419 tn?1360242356 ll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil? Do you guys know if it can be taken PRN?
Avatar n tn Most all laws/regulations both state and with the DEA are in regards to Schedule 2 narcotics... Nerve pain medications are not heavily regulated because they really do not have abuse potential. These meds are Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Neurontin.. Patients who have chronic pain usually have different types of pain. There is muscular...burning/nerve pain....bone pain...etc. Opiates are meant to be an overall pain medication that just dulls the pain.
Avatar f tn My understanding is the Tramadol is currently a controlled substance on the same schedule as Vicoden, Norco, etc. Probably because so many have become addicted to it, and yes I understand the withdrawals are long and horrid.
Avatar f tn The last doctor, a neurologist, just accepted a new academic promotion and position several hundred miles from here. What are the exact DEA/ FDA/ California State regulations governing how often a doctor must see the patient to prescribe this medication? Is it once every 30 days? 90 days? Is there an exception/ provision for patients who live far away? Can "teleconferencing" or something along those lines be used instead of a physical visit?
Avatar m tn They do UA strictly to keep the DEA off of them. In 2004 I believe, the DEA announced that they were going to focus on prescription drug abuse instead of illegal drugs. Pain management is basically run by the government, because of the fear they put on doctors. Doctors are scared to death of "over prescribing" opiates.
Avatar m tn I may be wrong, but I believe the reason that your doc won't write a 3month script for the MS contin is probably DEA regulated, rather than his choice. Some narcotics CAN be written with refills available, but others cannot - it depends on the schedule of narcotic that it is. Same reasoning some narcotics (such as Vicodin) can be called into the pharmacy by the doc and others (such as fentanyl) require a hard copy prescription every time.
Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
Avatar m tn i came into work this am and was greeted by the DEA.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
1331804 tn?1336867358 This new amendment will effectively make ALL Hydrocodone containing products a Schedule II drug. Hydrocodone alone has always been a Schedule II drug; however, there are currently no drugs on the market that contain ONLY Hydrocodone. All Hydrocodone products on the US market are combined with either Tylenol (Acetaminophen), Ibuprofen, or Aspirin. There is a new Hydrocodone extended release med undergoing clinical trials called Zohydro that is expected to hit the market 2013-2014.
Avatar f tn Hello......
Avatar f tn Since opioids like vicodin and oxycodone have been bumped up to schedule 2 and even into schedule one(all drugs that are illegal even though some of which taken correctly are not addictive nor harmful) pain specialist doctors are transferring opioid prescriptions to tylenol 2,3 or 4 . My family doctor who prescribed me vicodin(i.e. hydrocodone) or Norco .
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
17409734 tn?1456432991 However it may be due to the fact that in January of 2012 the DEA changed it to a Schedule IV drug. Baclofen, to my knowledge is not a Scheduled Drug - thought the DEA may be working on that. That may explain your PMP preference. Some of the literature I've read seems to indicates that Baclofen may be more effective in treating spinal pain than Soma. Obviously both are centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants. I believe it's what works best for you specifically!
Avatar m tn I have researched this topic for years, and as far as I can tell; as long as the prescribing doctor is certified to prescribe Schedule III or above narcotics, they may prescribe Buprenorphine for PAIN ONLY provided that they indicate this in their notes as the primary reason for the RX. My doctor is close to retirement, and it would seem that he is unwilling to further examine the actual laws regarding this "miracle" drug...and I can hardly blame him....
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
