Skelaxin and hydrocodone interactions

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and hydrocodone interactions

skelaxin

Avatar f tn I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night. As I type this it is 3:45 and I've been up since 2:15. I am having difficulty functioning at work because I am exhausted.
Avatar m tn However normally you can take an opiate with a NSAID. Hydrocodone tablets usually contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). Does your hydrocodone contain apap and if so how much? Normally I would suggest you ask a pharmacist but on Christmas you will be hard pressed to find one. You may call your local ER and ask that question. When I worked in ER it was common to receive those types of questions. I assume you are in pain and I am sorry for that. Good luck and keep in touch.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!

Avatar f tn It will be hard to determine exactly what caused the symptoms you described, but it was likely the hydrocodone. It can cause severe nausea, stomach pains, and dizziness. People occasionally have a bad reaction to hydrocodone even if they have taken it before. The symptoms you experienced were probably not due to an allergic reaction because they resolved so fast.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
551683 tn?1220656108 I take for FMS cymbalta, flexiril, hydrocodone, skelaxin, nexium, and ziac (high blood pressure). I have had rounds of PT for FMS w/o much success.
Avatar f tn Have taken 800 mg Ibuprofen for the pain, try not to take it often as I know it elevates BP and harmful to body. I also take aspirin, tylenol, and wear a Flector pain patch when it gets unbearable. I alternate with the pain meds dont take them the same days. The doctor put me on Tramadol for pain and made an appt. with my regular MD April 5th. I am scared because heart disease runs in my family, hypertension and stroke, some diabetes.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your pharmacist about potential problems with drug interactions. That is what they're expertise is, even more than you doctor. Since I get medications from three different doctors, I rely on my pharmacist to keep me out of trouble, so I ask her a lot of questions.
Avatar m tn In 1994 I had suffered a sub-arachnoid hemmorage(anueurysm) on the outer left side of my brain. I had it clipped, and the surgery involved some cutting into some muscle tissue in the jaw as well as surgical buttons to seal the bone flap they had cut open. I still have chronic pain from the surgery site(mostly the jaw and sometimes the site where it was cut open), but not like the section of the brain where it happened.
Avatar m tn Combat Veteran finally on Harvoni from VA. Genotype 1, treatment naïve. Wondering if there are negative interactions with marijuana, hydrocordone (prescribed) and Ambien? Don't want to risk interference with the treatment. Also, in spite of feeling chills, muscle aches and fatigue, would like to continue with Crossfit. Is there added benefit working out while on treatment? So grateful for this chance. Here's hoping.
Avatar n tn i googled it and it is a long acting benzo and it does say tell your dr if you take narcotic pain meds. be careful it is addictive too.
Avatar m tn You won't kill yourself but I can tell you exactly what is going to happen when you are finally out of pills. I weened myself off the vicoden and still had terrible WD. The first day will not be bad, but the second, third, fourth, and fifth are going to be hell. I am not going to sugar coat it. You will have the runs (I would go 20 times a day), headache, joint aches, very hot and sweaty, nervousness, shakiness and you might cry...a lot.
Avatar m tn This will help him/her understand more of why you are taking more hydrocodone than prescribed. And again, I will say this again that the hydrocodone is weak in strength, and even much more so after being on it for 3 years that you most likely need something a little stronger such that you can take the prescribed amount and still do the things you need to do.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn re several sites you can find out what are the side effects, and interactions with other drugs that are very informative. I try to make it a habit to look up all medications that I take... http://www.****.com http://www.****.com Good luck....hope you hav a painless day today.
Avatar f tn I take Hydrocodone 10/500-4 times a day, Soma 350mg-4 times a day, Celexa 20mg-once a day, Lipitor 20mg-once a day, Enjuvia 0.9mg-once a day, Motrin 1600mgs a day, Asprin 350mg-4 times a day, all these everyday for over a year. I had to take pain management urine drug test and it tested positive for Benzodiazepines and they said my Soma didn't show up at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
906679 tn?1263612612 When I was prescribed Cymbalta I was already taking prescribed Vicodin, which is hydrocodone and acetaminophen (tylenol). I took them together without any side effects and the pharmacist did not warn me of any drug interactions. None of the literature warns to avoid acetaminophen. I assume they are safe to take together. Again always check with your pharmacist before taking and drugs together. They are the experts. Best of luck to you. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar m tn So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.5) and try this Skelaxin and let me know in 3 months how your doing. I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar m tn Oh I should also add I have severe anxiety and take 2 to 4 mg of xanax a day and have been for over 12 years now. Anyway I guess what I getting at is how long do these withdrawls last? I seriously thought I was dying yesterday. And it feels like I am on the verge of an anxiety attack all of the time. Hard to breath, can't sit still, sweating/chills, insomnia, stomache pains. Is there anything I can take or do to at least ease them up.
Avatar n tn I take zoloft and ultram on a daily bsbis. Is there any concern with bad interactions? so far I feel none.
