Singulair and coughing

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and coughing

singulair

Avatar m tn m a 23 year old male, who takes Singuliar, 10mg, daily for asthma symptoms. However for the past few nights, I have been wheezing and coughing in bed at night to the point it disrupts my sleep, leaving me dragging the next day. During the day I do not wheeze and cough, just laying down at night in bed. Should I go see my doctor, or is this something due to change in weather (it has become noticably cooler in this area the past couple days), or something the medication will correct in time?
Avatar f tn I have the same problem, pain in the lower chest it seems. I take symbicort and singulair. Does anyone know if this Zithromycin treatment works?
Avatar m tn hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
Avatar n tn When I say uncontolable I mean she was coughing non stop for hours at a time. He put her on an antibiotic (zpack) and gave her cough medicine with codine. 5 days later she was not any better. Brought her back to the doctors and they did a test for whooping cough(have to wait 2 weeks for the results) and a chest x-ray, which was fine and put her on steriods. A week later she was still not better. She was seen by a pulmonary specialist this morning. They do not know whats wrong with her.
Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
Avatar n tn This stuff works better than Mercks ( montelukast sodium ) except it has no side effects and its quicker and cheaper. Then kiss your and your sons Asthma goodby. No more coughing at any time in the for eather of you. bill103 ....
Avatar f tn Family history: My sister & dad have rhinitis. My mom has chronic cough and her PCP said it’s allergic (don't have detail check-up). I had strong allergic reaction to Erythromycin (whole body & face swollen & covered by hives/rash) when I was a kid Since 2010, I started feeling congested at night (bedtime & early morning) and okay in daytime. Occasionally took Claritin because of tickle in throat but nothing serious. Normal daily life & sleeping is fine.
645800 tn?1466860955 Losing thirty pounds and a strict no processed diet has helped. Also Zyrtec allergy pills everyday and Singulair. My insurance will not pay for Singulair at all. Rinsing my sinuses with saline and taking Mucinex. I take a lot of Mucinex this time of year. I used to take Benydrl and Chlortrimeton but they dried me out and impacted the mucus. I now hardly even need my Symbicort much less Albuteral. I used to have to sleep in a recliner. Eating was a bear because of choking.
Avatar m tn By Cingular, do you mean Singulair? I used it for a while and, if I remember correctly, I found it drying. Ask your doctor if that is what is causing the cough.
486038 tn?1300063367 This whole not being able to sleep and coughing all the time and being short of breathe and just feeling ick is just getting old. The entire Dr. office was ready for me to leave, the nurse stuck her head in the room and told me to go home and get some cough syrup! I'm going to NYU on the 10th of Sept, next Tuesday. I'm hoping all this sorta soothes over and the weather holds up and that flying out of New York on Sept 11th isn't a bad thing. Grin. Thank you for posting in reply!!!
Avatar f tn His pediatrician did prescribe an asthma control medication for 3 months, and he just finished that course at the end of June. But now he got cold again and started coughing a lot...not sure if I give him the breathing treatment again immediately. And we did go to see an allergist and did many allergy tests, but all negative. Maybe we should go to see a pediatric pulmonologist too.
Avatar f tn Her doctor has been closely watching her and put her on symbicort and the proventil hfa, and singulair. thanks for the heating pad tip!
Avatar f tn My IGE level is 225, I want to know what that means as to severity. I have been on Xolair for one year, 300mg every two weeks, and I don't feel as if it has helped. I am considering stopping treatment due to no change. I am on Advair 500\50, Singulair 10mg, Spiriva, Claritin, Albuterol (both by nebulizer and fast inhaler) prednisone every month, for the last 2 years and I don't feel any better.
Avatar n tn Four days later in the afternoon I began coughing uncontrollably and could not breathe and ended up in the ER. They immediately saw me and drew blood. The blood test came back positive and they felt that I had a blood clot on my lung. They also ran a TB test. They ruled out the blood clot, prescribed Benzonatate and said that I just had a virus and should go home and rest. 3 days later I went back to my Doctor for a follow-up and a reading from the TB test.
Avatar n tn I end up coughing a lot of and spit out yellow pleghm. This goes on through the day until about half way through it, where my lungs seem to get adjusted to it. This also happens when I am trying to exercise at the fitness center. So I guess my question is, do other asthmatics have this same problem, and is this common, or does this sound like it actually is a more serious case of bronchitis?
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar m tn Some things you may want to try at that point are different medications specifically Dulera or Symbicort instead of the Advair and adding allergy medications and nasal sprays. Allergy testing and shots may be needed as well. Finding the cause of the cough is essential to bringing it under control. Please don't hesitate to ask additional questions. I am glad to help in anyway I can. I know it is a rough road. God bless.
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child and the doctor has put me on two inhalers, a corticosteroid and albuterol, and Singulair. It hasn't helped. Now, to add to the coughing spasms, I have begun burping with them. I never burp anything up, there is no sore throat or burning, and their is no productivity to my cough. Sometimes I feel like there is "something down there" but nothing comes up. I had a CT of my chest a couple of days ago and am waiting to hear the results.
Avatar f tn My son just turned 11. He is obese and he has been since he was 4 and he has had asthma since he was 9 months old. In November of this last year he began to run a low grade temp and vomitting several times a day. We have taken him to the doctor 5 times for the same thing. Every visit, except for the last one, my husband took him to the doctor and they only discussed his weight, dismissing all of his symptoms. I took him in on Friday and demanded help.
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar n tn I am a 45 yr old male. I have asthma from birth, and I use Aerius 1xd, Singulair 2xd, Symbicort 400/12 3xd, and Ventolin when needed. The last two years, whenever I have to cough really hard (the gasping for air kind), I frequently get to a point where I start "dry vomitting". I get a vomit reflex, but nothing comes out of my stomache., I only, explosively, force a lot of air out of my lungs.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
Avatar m tn Last night, when my son cough so much. And I was so deperate; I gave him my Nasonex 1 buff in each nostril and he stop coughing in about 5 mins. It's mirracle to me. However, I just learn this home remedies last week and I want to share with you to try and see if it works. I tried it on me 3 nights ago and I did not have post nasal drop last 2 nights and no day neezing. For aldult: 2 red radish crushed + 1or 2 teaspoon honey + half yellow lemon. Stir up and eat.
