It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
I have a history of migrane headaches. I have been in three minor car accidents, kicked in the head by a horse, pinned in a trailer and run down on separate occasions. These have all resulted in mild/moderate concussion/contusion, bruised ribs, moderate concussion/contusion, respectively. I have had pneumonia. I have anemia for which I take a daily vitamin. The cause of the anemia has not been identified, and there was signs of an enlarging spleen.
I am 54 years old, Sand I suffered a concussion a about 2 weeks ago. I tripped over a high curb,with a 2 year old in my arms.I automatically pushed her to the side and I took the bang to the head. It weighs about 4 lbs. My boyfriend got a cut and an abrasion, plus a goose egg and a bit of bruising on his head from it. It barely got me. He has had severe headaches every day since I haPpened and even nausea a few times since then. Just wondering if he could have a concussion and if we should get it checked out...
I can tell you from personal experience that a concussion can leave you with a variety of neurological issues for over a year. I had a severe concussion appr. 5 years ago. I hit the base of my skull against a metal storage rack. I did not fall unconscious but had to immediately rest as I was feeling off. I actually tried to not fall asleep as I was worried about internal bleeding.
My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases.
As for epilepsy, I have it.
I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
Well as long as he seems fine then he probably is. Look for signs of a concussion such as wanting to sleep right after. Check his eyes for any changes like dialation. My kids have gotten plenty of goose eggs so don't worry. Sometimes if they hit it in the right spot it can be pretty big! Best of luck!
My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
I can`t live in a bubble this is depressing. I see my life as a 32 year old mother of two at a standstill somewhat when it comes to physical play. I can`t rough house anymore, can`t play hockey with them or run or jump. I have to be somewhat overly cautious to prevent any hit to my head because it will back me again. I`m fearing that this will always be like this but am hoping that someone will tell me that I will get better with time.
d wake up in the middle of the night instantly thrown into a migraine. After a month and a half of these adjustments 3 times a week, we gave up on it and I stuck to medication and physical therapy. I would like to be able to return to school soon being that this time in my life is critical to my future and I'm wondering if my condition is reversable. If the atlas is what was knocked out of place during my concussion, is there a way to make it permanently stay in place?
I had an MRI & there was no swelling. I was cleared to begin workouts & started my freshman year of college. I am in the AFROTC so I work out hard every day, take vitamins & drink a gallon of water daily. It has been about 5 months since my injury & I am getting headaches every day at the same time. Could this be from the concussion? Should I have it checked out before I go back to school next week?
They did not see any acute signs of a brain injury. They are trained to do tests to determine this. I have kids in sports. Since you've had a concussion before, you know that a doctor does those to determine brain injury. Sounds like the ER doctor didn't see this type of situation for you. I'm sure it hurt. You may have even gotten a goose egg. This has happened to both of my sons and myself. It hurts like a mother. Are there residual effects?

The post-concussion syndrome or PCS lasts for weeks, months, or occasionally years after a concussion or moderate to severe cases of traumatic brain injury. It is seen in 38–80% of mild head injuries.
The nature of the symptoms tends to change over time. They are most commonly of a physical nature (headache) following the injury, but tend to become predominantly psychological (difficulty concentrating, irritability) later.
As a pilot, I am going to suggest he do a lot of thinking before assuming duties as pilot-in-command. A person with such memory problems is endangering himself and his crew. The way the medical clearance works if they pretty much give you what you want. I was in a hospital decades ago in very bad shape and got a four-hour pass for a first-class physical to fly jets (which was granted).
This condition then gradually clears.
* Concussion. A concussion means the cat was knocked out or experienced a brief loss of consciousness. Upon returning to consciousness,

There are other types of brain injury like cerebral edema and blood clot.
Signs of Increased Intracranial Pressure

Usually with a brain injury, it is most noticeable at first (obvious visible injury to the head and disorientation and clumsiness, verbal disturbances and other obvious signs of a brain injury) and then less noticeable as time goes on.
It seems she has gone from having something that wasn't noticed at all, that has regressed to a real impairment.
