I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?

It's definitely a side effect. As soon as I quit taking the PPI, I feel normal. Before I figured out what was causing this, I went to my dr and they tested my gall bladder. The test came back that my gall bladder wasn't working properly, so they took it out, which I'm sure was not neccessary, as I've read that Nexium can cause that. So, here I am, feeling the same, and nothing helps.
I inform my doctors of the side effects of the medications and continuouly, I hear it is impossibl and continue taking it because it is to help prevent this illness. I don't want anything to prevent a illness that I may never have but have other problems occurring from what was prescribe. This is a serious problem that needs to be address.
So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me.
I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Usually the attending physician gives information regarding the possible side effect of the drug while prescribing the medication. It could also be Arthritis due to many causes. I called the Drs office today and he said these symptoms could not be from the med. I did research possible side effects a couple of days ago and these can indeed be side effects. Now, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping he would recommend another med to try because on top of the stomach pain I'm having the bladder pain, tiredness and weakness. I guess my question is this. Has anyone had these side effects and if so did they go away?
Which, incidentally, stopped when I stopped taking the aciphex. Shortly after taking the aciphex I started experiencing symptoms of GERD. I still have the GERD to this day - some days its worse than others. I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better?
What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
If you have a problem with temporary movement disorders (extra pyramidal side effects) from Geodon or any antipsychotic they can give you a side effect pill for that. Informing yourself of the potential side effects of medications and more importantly how they help is a good thing. If you have a discharge from the urethra, a yeast (candida) infection needs to be ruled out.
It is possible that you became infected befor symptoms became obvious in your girlfriend.
Is it possible that the infection she had has not been completely eliminated?
How was it determined that the infection had disappeared?
Pain in the testicles and a whitish discharge are reasons enough for meeting your doctor and pursuing further treatment after the requisite tests.

How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
You may think it is easier for a woman to have this dysfunction and so we tolerate the medication for a longer period of time. Not so. It was hell.
But, when I leveled out....once a period of two and a half years and another about a year, I was changed.
Please stay on your meds, no long term effect from lamictal as far as everything I read and hubby and I are happy now.
So talk to your psych and tell him/her what is going on.
