Common Questions and Answers about Second hand smoking pictures of lungs

smoking

2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
Avatar f tn You and baby are fine unless the smell makes you physically ill.
Avatar m tn Thank you for answering my question about my mild hyperinflated lungs, as seen on my CT scan. I do not smoke, I was around second hand smoke for years while my husband smoked, he has recently stopped smoking! But my question now is: what can I do to take care of my lungs, should I be worried, am I prone to have early lung disease or anything??? I am only 39!!!
Avatar f tn is the baby breathing in second hand smoke? If not...
Avatar m tn I would also recommend that you stay out of places where smoking is prevalent. Second hand smoke is even worse for you. Take care.
1117137 tn?1345227905 is it just me or is second hand smoking SO annoying? i think my radar is just super tuned in right now, but it seems like people just light up and leave their used butts, everywhere! i understand that it is a free world, but i guess i just find it even more bothersome, now that i have another life to support inside me. i will go as far as pulling my shirt over my face as i walk by it, and i don't care who sees that or what they think.
Avatar f tn I seat down and basically told him the results for second hand smoking and how that was much worse than actually smoking. So we came to the agreement that he would just smoke outside when we come over & he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar f tn I have been smoking weed for about 7 years but I have always been around second hand smoke and just recently started smoking cigarrettes. And about 2 years ago I started with a heavy hoarse cough and when I would spit there would be little pieces of brown flecks in it. Im curious as to what that is and is it bad?
Avatar m tn I wanted to know if there is any way to rinse of, flush down, or may be suck the tar out of my lungs every once in a while, to keep them tuned up. I do not plan to quit smoking, i just want to get my lungs cleaned every once in a while so i can maintain their health to some extent. May be you can suggest a way that deals with reducing tar on daily basis. some breathing exercises may be, that will cut off the accumulated tar slowly but regularly.
Avatar m tn Otherwise you wouldn’t sense any aroma, and the aroma is most of the pleasure. In effect, you’re breathing your own second-hand smoke. So you’re probably spending some of your quality life time and time to disability on tobacco use and enjoyment. How much time, I can’t estimate - I’m not a scientist. One thing I’m fairly sure of, though, is that you won’t find an MS neurologist, MS nurse or other MS specialist anywhere who’ll tell you it’s OK to keep smoking cigars.
Avatar f tn From the past 2yrs he is suffering from severe cough and from the past one and half year his breathing became difficult and he under went many mediacal tests. Finally the doctors concluded that his lungs are being thickened. He has no smoking and no drinking habits and purely vegetarian. Is it a rear disease? Isw there any cure to this? What should i do now? Please tell me the solution to this problem.
Avatar n tn I'm 36 years old and my lung test say that I have lungs of a 66 old man and I never smoked what does this mean
Avatar n tn t think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by. Any chance this could show up in a test? Since I was exposed to the smoke and felt that I inhaled it, I am trying to figure out how the smoke would not be able to affect a drug test with a false positive. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn When I normally smoke a lot during the evening when I wake up I remove clear phlegm with a bit black or something. The reality is, that whatever rubish it is that is coming out of our lungs means that our lungs are not very clean and we should take this seriously. I understand and also suffer from smoking addiction but we need to use this as motivation to make us quit before its too late. On the other hand, you could only benefit if you ask your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn , but I doubt a couple of hours of second-hand smoke would cause you anything other than immediate discomfort and even some upset of the stomach - the nose/lungs should recove soon after leaving the contamination. Of course there is such a thing as too much smoke (fire fighters and victims) who require hospitalization to recover - but I can't see that being very likely for what you describe.
Avatar f tn I am of the understanding that now that I have a 25 year history of not smoking, not even much second hand smoke, my lungs are back to being like an old guy who never smoked. You made the right decision stopping smoking, stick with it.
Avatar f tn Second hand smoke is just as bad as smoking yourself. Second hand smoke kills too, it effects the babies lungs and can cause breathing issues for you both.
203342 tn?1328737207 I was talking with my quit smoking coach yesterday and she told me this type of smoke (on clothes, in cars) now has a name - third hand smoke which can also be dangerous. Try going to American Cancer Society for more information. I bet they have something on this.
Avatar f tn There's not a lot of evidence that I know of (i work in a related field). In general, to test positive through secondary exposure is considered technically possible but you'd hafta breathe so much in such a small space for a really long time that it doesn't really happen. Any kind of smoke, first or second hand, damages the lungs so there's that. but no to your original question.
Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.
Avatar m tn second hand smoke is worse than smoking a ciagrette yourself. look for another place to live or have a talk with your roomate about smoking outside.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I too have developed asthma at 57 years of age, or maybe earlier and didn't know it. I too like you thought it may have been from second hand smoke, but I don't think you can get this from second hand smoke after researching the subject. COPD on the other hand is associated with smoking. My condition on the other hand may be due to a hiatal hernia or either allergens, which I plan on getting checked out soon.
9663463 tn?1407525554 Thankfully my husband quit along with me when we found out we were expecring. But m mother in law on the other hand is selfish +although she claimed she's so proud of us,she still lights up right next to me, or if we're at her house she'll smoke inside even when we're there..then she gets super pis sed when my husband says something to her. Like its putting her out to not smoke aroundme lol.
Avatar f tn My clothes would have picked up second hand smoke from my friends. If your spouse has said to you that he has stopped smoking, he probably has stopped smoking. That's one of the reasons I stopped smoking, smelling old cigarette smoke in my clothes and tasting tobacco the first thing I woke up. Anyway, hope my post is helpful.
Avatar m tn I was sharing a marijuana cigar with a friend recently who has had unprotected sex, he was scratching at a pimple and made himself bleed and then wiped his hand on his pants, but then also held the cigar with the same fingers. is there any way that if any left over blood on his fingers got on the cigar and i inhaled it that i could be exposed to HIV?
1580703 tn?1651904887 I developed asthma after being around 2nd hand smoke for a few months. Does this mean that my lungs will get worse with time? What can I do to improve my lung function? thanks very much!
Avatar f tn t want her over there nor them coming to see her smelling like smoke because My mom who has never smoked a day in her life is dealing with a collapsed lung and lung cancer due to 2nd hand smoking. The smell of smoke harms my mom. And I just really fear for my daughter.
