I have been diagnosed w/ both perioral and seborrheic dermatitis and I am trying to find a facial cleanser and moisturizer that reduces flare-ups. In the past I was battling acne and had luck w/ neutrogena acne wash; my problem is that a lot of cleansers have sodium lauryl sulfate (or derivatives) of it including the neutrogena. Do you know of cleansers/moisturizers that are effective in controlling all three skin conditions?
Hello, I am male and aged 68 .. during the past year I have found that my scalp .. I'm thining.. and more lately my forehead is not shedding my skin and that area the size of my small fingernail are becoming crusty and and remain attached to my head. After a couple/few weeks it tends to come away with a bit of help from my fingernail but then the same process starts again .. it is bad enough having it on my scalp but I am very unhappy about it on my forhead.
They called it possibly psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis, but it might have been dermatitis herpetiformis, which goes with Celiac disease. My scalp still isn't normal, so you do not want to scratch and you want to find out if gluten or other problem foods are the cause, and also rule out any other problems with your digestive tract if they convince you you don't have Celiac disease. Problems with digestion come out in your skin.
Dry scalp, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I had this. It seemed to be seborrheic dermatitis, and seemed to respond best to Nizoral shampoo, but I don't know how your hair type would like that shampoo. If diluted white vinegar isn't too drying, you could try rinsing with that. I cannot use any conditioner as it causes problems for me, blocking pores. I also found out I have celiac disease, so it was a side effect of digestive malabsorption. So find out if you have any intestinal problems going on.
I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows:
1. Will this disease ever go away?
2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?

If so, I started getting this all of a sudden about 3 years ago. I think the doctor called it Seborrheic Dermatitis (a severe type of dandruff). I tried everything (before going to the dermatologist) to get rid of it but I had bad itching, flaking, peeling, and even a little bleeding on my scalp. There are a few things to treat it, one of which is a foam with some kind of steroid in it but it was very expensive since my insurance didn't cover it (like $200-300).
I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs.

It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.

It can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky,dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
if someone has seborrheic dermatitis patches around the lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a common skin condition that affect many people.

Since seborrheic dermatitis is caused by overgrowth of fungus, so any dietary changes or herbal remedies is not going to help. You can however try the above mentioned treatment once the weaning starts, Till then please keep your skin well hydrated and moisturized .

Last four year i consulted many doctors (Skin specialists). But no one indicated clearly that the problem name is Seborrheic Dermatitis. Just now i find the problem.

Can you pls suggest some shampoo's and lotions for this problem? If no, Please suggest me some good doctors in mumbai. I dont know any hospitals in mumbai. I am new to mumbai. I dont want to get treatment to unknown doctors. because my problem is severe.

Initially, diagnosed with Contact dermatitis. Then other dermatologists say Seborrheic. Is there anything out there to lighten up scarring on especially the face from the effects of Seborrheic Dermatitis naturally? If not, over the counter. After different meds from different dermatologists . Finally on one that is currently helping, for now, but face is scarred from where the bumps were appearing. Never had blemishes on face like this. Any suggestions to ask my dermatologist?
