seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar f tn I have never had any issues with my skin and I have read that seborrheic dermatitis is strongly related to HIV, i also have red eyes and frequent migraines. When do HIV patients start developing seborrheic dermatitis? What other symptoms are developed with it? When performing my last test alcohol was not completely dry on my finger + the final reading was before the 20 minutes mark set by the manufacturer.
Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar n tn Therefore, seborrheic dermatitis probably never is the only manifestation of HIV disease. If yours were due to HIV, you would be losing weight, having fever, and probably would have had one or more life-threatening infections by now. Every new medical condition "pops up suddenly"; diagnosis of something new says nothing about the cause. That you had a new sexual partnership a few years ago is equally immaterial.
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.

Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis patches around the lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a common skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar m tn In fact far and away the vast majority of persons with seborrheic dermatitis or with HIV do not have HIV. Further, there is no evidence that this is a sign of any sort of immune compromise. I urge you not to worry.
Avatar m tn some 3 months after this encounter I got seborrheic dermatitis on my face around my nose (I have had seborrheic dermatitis on my skull my whole life and it stopped at one point). Should I be worried that the seborrheic dermatitis appeared around that time ? I haven't had any other symptoms (no weight loss - I actually gained weight, no swollen lymph nodes). I also had a sore throat later the same summer. Another question is that while having intercourse ones ...
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar f tn Hello, For seborrheic dermatitis, Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn is sometimes caused by a common condition called seborrheic dermatitis which can be problematic for persons with advanced HIV. Even though seborrheic dermatitis/dandruff can be a problem for persons with HIV, the fact is that most people with dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis do not have HIV. thus your dandruff is not something to worry about. If you have lingering fears about HIV, the only way to be sure that you o not have HIV is to be tested. There is no reason to fear testing.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Avatar m tn I'am Terrified, worried, scared, stressed, everything in the book at this point. The last time i had sex was with my ex on june of 2007!!! it was unprotected but it was a 10second thing, in and out. i was 17 at the time, she was 16, iam now 20 years old, i see her everyday, cause she goes to my karate school, her dad is the owner of the school and he's the one who runs it. now here's whats scaring me!
Avatar f tn But last year at the age of 27, my dermatologist diagnosed me with rosacea (which my father has) and seborrheic dermatitis. When I started researching about both I found that seborrheic dermatitis is associated with HIV. Then, not long after I got ringworm on my face. A year later I now live on a different country and colder climate, I now have eczema. Are my skin conditions related to HIV? I've never had an HIV test.
Avatar f tn Some of the most common skin rashes associated with HIV are scabies and insect bite reactions, inflammation of the hair follicles including either eosinophilic or bacterial (staph) folliculitis, drug reactions, dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis and photosensitivity dermatitis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I came home and started to know about it through the internet and was freaked out to know its a symptom of HIV. The oral conditions then, Bleeding gums and chapped lips while deep kissing the stripper came back to my mind, and i was really petrified about the ONLY such incident ever till date in my life.
Avatar m tn While seborrheic dermatitis is seen in persons with HIV, only a very small proportion of persons with seborrheic dermatitis have HIV. If you have had negative OraQick home tests, you should believe them. They would certainly have detected infection if you were infected. Please do not let the fact that you and your wife happen to have seborrheic dermatitis worry you.
Avatar m tn It can be treated with selsun lotion (or shampoo) rubbed onto your rash. Persons with HIV can get severe seborrheic dermatitis but most people with seborrhea do not have HIV. that your seborrheic got worse is no reason for concern. 2. Did anyone ever got HIV from this sort of exposure No, not ever. 3. Do you believe vinyl glove will provide protection against infection and would oil temper it. and if there was blood in oil would there be a chance of infection.
Avatar n tn You don't have an HIV concern.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the HIV forum. Seborrheic dermatitis of the face does occur with increased frequency in persons with advanced HIV infection (i.e., overt AIDS) -- in which case you would have many other symptoms and it would be obvious you were seriously ill. And the vast majority of people with seb derm of the face do not have HIV anyway. The other symptoms you describe also are not particularly suspicious for HIV.
