Avatar m tn One year later I was hospitalized second time for three weeks after experiencing a panic attack/mental break down in response to several stressful events the week prior to admission. In the months prior to this second admission, with doctors supervision, I had stopped my ssri therapy due to improvement of some symptoms. Upon second admission, went back on ssri, along with trazadone and clonazapam this time.
11236850 tn?1416445990 go to your allergist and make a test for histamine intolerance! Thats what I think! If really got it, it is possible to eat and drink histamine rich food. Usually it's forbidden to eat or drink it cause your body starts with an allergic reaction. But you can buy "Daosin", it makes it possible to eat and drink what ever you want.
Avatar f tn But if you really want to drink the alcohol but worried about the Allergic you should go to consult the doctor. This kind of situation is rather tough to the doctor. But i think you could try the TCM. Because the TCM cure the proble through the vein, qi and acupoint. Maybe can change the Allergic constitution. Hope that i help.
Avatar m tn Hi, the condition strongly suggests angioedema which is due to hypersensitivity reaction (type 1). One thing is certain that alcohol is an allergen to you and subsequent exposure to it can cause complications. Hence, you need to quit the alcohol completely. You need to keep always antihistaminic with you. You also need to rule out other allergens which you are sensitive to.
Avatar n tn this gradually comes down on the second day and by fourth or fifth day I become compatible to alcohol . so if I have to attend a party on a Friday I have to start taking small amounts from Monday onwards if i don't it would be emaraasment for me.

Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, alcohol is known to cause flushing in some individuals. You are not allergic to alcohol. It causes direct vasodilation of the skin, related either to alcohol directly or its metabolite, acetaldehyde. Alcohol is oxidized to acetaldehyde in the liver by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). This acetaldehyde is further converted to acetic acid by acetaldehyde dehydrogenase.
Avatar n tn Hello, It is usually not the alcohol that produces the allergic reaction to the wine or beer. The other ingredients in the alcohol, such as yeast, sulfur dioxide, and additives are often the culprits. The red dots that you get after alcohol consumption are called hives or urticaria.Antihistaminics are the main treatment of hives or allergic reaction to alcohol. You can take antihistaminics prior to consumption of alcohol also but pls get yourself prescribed for them from an allergist.
Avatar n tn u mentioned she went through obsticals in life i too was in her position go to your family doctor (if she is willing try to talk to her it is so beneficial) and ask to be refered to a psychiatrist take up an activity with your daughter go for a walk once a week she might just need someone to talk to she is in college which for many is stress enough on its own... another thing it may or may not be a contributing factor but drug/alcohol abuse can also cause these symptoms.

Avatar f tn Recently.. I've had very very strange neuro symptoms happening.. I'm hearing a voice from a reoccurring dream, I'm dreaming when I'm awake ,the voice is in a rhythm.. and when this happens I go into a rhythm myself, can't control it.. I have to move to the beat.. or speak to the beat or tap or count.. does any body know what this could be? I'm also smelling burning rubber a lot! ??????
Avatar f tn I have a similar problem. when I drink certain alcohol i swell up and get rashes. I was told I'm allergic to the sulfates in the alcohol . I can drink Rum. It doesn't have sulfates in it. You just have to read the bottle, Hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn lol poor thing. try to avoid the alcohol. it is possible to be allergic to alcohol, it is also possible to develop allergies over a period of time to certain things you were not allergic to before. You should see a doctor to be tested for this but until then, I would avoid the alcohol.
Avatar m tn It took me a while to figure out the pattern but it seems that whenever I drink alcohol even if I have a beer orna glass of wine, my body seems to burn up and shiver, my skin is warm to the touch and this lasts for a couple of weeks. Am I allergic to alcohol? All my blod tests are normal and liver is normal, how can I stop this burning feeling? And how long till it goes away????? If anybody has any idea, it would mean a lot! Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi, so I am 37 year old male in relatively good shape. Since I'm about 18 I've been drinking alcohol, not everyday, more like 2-3 times a week drinks out with friends. Since having kids (9 years ago) more like 1-2 times a week max. Starting a few months ago I took notice of some morning after drinking having a high pulse ~100bpm, my normal rate is around 75bpm. I recently got a phone with pulse detection and took my pulse a few times while drinking.
Avatar n tn s a permanent condition and she would have to take medication for the rest of her life. If one is referring to an extreme reaction to trauma, that isn't really a psychosis, though one might describe it colloquially as a psychotic reaction because the behavior is that of one who is psychotic. She's probably using the term tranquilizer unscientifically, but if she was in a shock condition that simulates psychosis and might have indeed been put on an injection for fast relief of it.
Avatar f tn I've been smoking marijuana for about 5 years. I've been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I get horrible depression because of my bipolar. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened.
Avatar m tn I have the same exact reaction to alcohol so I know how you feel. I have been told by several friends that I should just take benadry before drinking but I haven't done that. It sounds pretty boring lol but I just don't drink anymore. If not drinking isn't something that you want to do I would call your Dr. and maybe ask for an appointment because I would guess it could be a reaction because of an underlying health condition.
