687079 tn?1230948612 Yes, it is possible the metal clip caused all your symptoms by initiating a foreign body reaction in your body. Also you could be allergic to the metal. I would suggest you take a sensitivity done for metals in future if you need anything implanted in your body that has metal in it. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hello, It could be because of an allergic reaction to the metal that you are showing these skin symptoms. To confirm the diagnosis you need to get it examined from an allergist. Till that time, try coating the metal clip with a clear nail polish. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then steroids may be needed.
1492418 tn?1289149263 s probably a reaction to the metal. Metal, especially base metal like nickel and chromium, release metal ions all the time, and mixtures of different metals in the mouth produce a low electric current call galvanism, and it's really important never to have gold and mercury amalgam fillings in your mouth, especially next to each other.
Avatar f tn My doctor changed my medicine to another anti-psychotic, and my pupils stopped getting large.
Avatar m tn I had a blood test (Melissa test) for metal allergies with positive results for nickel and titanium calcium. Research and medical attention finds that so called titanium implants, rods etc are not totally made of titanium but are a combination of metals to make it hard. Each batch of implants etc are individual and marked. The manufacturer can trace the exact components of the implant. Also there are metal properties in the coating of the implant and the cement used to place them.
Avatar m tn what do you do when you find out that you are metal allergic to all 11 coronary stents installed? Stents aren't like hips and knees. Those can be removed if allergic to them. but not stents. Metal allergy to metal implants is nothing new. It's well documented. So why no procedure for stent removal. Not to bright. shouldn't there be formal metal allergy testing before this one product (that can't be removed) is installed?
Avatar f tn If the metal is too much sensitized then it can cause more severe reaction. The spectrum of these reactions can vary widely; reactions may present as typical allergic symptoms (eg, itching, urticaria, rash, and edema) after exposure. In case of metal allergy, you need to discuss other treatment options (non-metallic clamps) for gall bladder disease. In the future avoid further exposure to it as prevention is best.
Avatar n tn Well, I'm not sure about that. Antipsychotics don't work right away. Tranquilizers do. Antipsychotics, if they do work, work all the time. Tranquilizes only work for a short period of time and then wear off. If she took this as an antipsychotic injection, it would be during an emergency situation but she would have to take the shots for several months and then go on the medication for longer than that.
Avatar f tn i highly doubt it's an allergic reaction to the metal because i've had my tongue pierced at the same piercing place and it didn't give me any problems =( also, if it is my body's reaction to a foreign object, do you think my body will eventually get used to having it there? i really like it and would rather not take it out unless i absolutely have to.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I get horrible depression because of my bipolar. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick.
Avatar n tn Very possible you are having an allergic reaction? Soap could do it. Metal is a good one. Rough clothing could be a problem. If your a female and shave, is it the same kind of rash you get when you shave your upper legs then put on jeans? Try eliminating possible causes: Laundry detergent Different clothes Lotion or soap Fabric Belts All kinds of stuff.
Avatar n tn Does your girlfriend have a history of allergies? If yes, what are the known allergens that trigger such reaction in your girlfriend? After you removed your shaving stuff, detergents, and other stuff you used in your face, did your girlfriend still had the reaction? Try to observe or investigate, take one thing out at a time, and see if any of them caused the reaction. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Do you have additional metal in your mouth, ie amalgam fillings, crowns, posts or root filled teeth. I had exactly the same symptoms after having implants placed, and had what is called a galvansitic reaction where the combination of metals in your mouth set up a battery effect in your mouth which cause an electrical charge, which in addition can cause the amalgam to leak. I have now had the implants removed and all metal replaced with ceramic and the symptoms are gone.
Avatar m tn It feels like a taught metal cord has been snapped, like a thick base guitar string but the sound does not linger. Its a metallic sound and I can almost feel it when it happens. I never suffered any trauma to by head or ears. I have seen my GP, neurosurgeon, ENT and there appears to be no structural damage. No brain tumor. Nothing that shows up on imaging. I always forget to ask the neuro and plan on doing so next wee.
Avatar m tn m allergic to the triamcinolone right? But ya know, she had the nerve to tell me I may have been allergic to the needle! The metal! What?? So I just want to know how serious this is. This one website says that hives are a serious side effect for which I should seek emergency medical help. But right now I'm just taking some benedryl and hoping it goes away like last time (and I think it is...) But how serious is an allergic reaction to triamcinolone?
Avatar f tn hi im deathly allergic to metal pericings. it takes about 2 weeks to get into my blood stream and attack my heart (heart attack). tried it twice in my life. i'm wondering if it's just the nickel or if it's all metal. i have my silicone implant nov 4th and i'm trying to find out where i can get an allergy test. thanks so much.
Avatar m tn And according to studies done, the MELISA Test is reproducible, sensitive, specific, and reliable for detecting metal sensitivity in metal-sensitive patients. So, consult your doctor and have the test done. Regards.
Avatar m tn I have itchy and burning lichen planus on my arms and lower legs that I suspect is a systemic reaction to some nickel crowns placed by a very dishonest dentist who promised noble metal. If you have a metal sensitivity, it would be best to get Lava crowns that are metal free special porcelain that is as strong as steel.
Avatar m tn It is important you know that most orthopedic metal implants are metal alloys, containing more than one type of metal. In addition to the titanium which is present as the base metal, there are other metals that are present in smaller quantities, such as nickel, aluminium which could be present. About 10-15%of people are allergic to nickel, which could be present in the orthopedic implants.
Avatar f tn s in the body is also releasing the metal through reaction with her body. The tast is mixing the metal mixing with the iron in her blood and yes it's depressive and creates anxiety. The fact they took her to the psych ward is totally out of order. Take the metal out and replace with another product if you have to. Something that doesn't react with her body and aura. Mentally and emotionally there will be work to do. Maybe seek some kind of healing therapy.
Avatar m tn The implanted metal alloys release metallic ions into the body especially in those devices with metal-on-metal articulating surfaces. The long-term effect of these ions on the spine is currently unknown. Since it is causing lot of discomfort in you it may need removal. I will advise you to take a second opinion from a spinal surgeon and once it is confirmed that these metal ions are causing these symptoms it is best to discuss it with the surgeon.
Avatar f tn ve met a patient with a gold allergy, some metal allergies though such as nickel. Are you replacing the crown with a non-metal based crown?
Avatar f tn If your body were rejecting the metal you would have noticed inflammation and other problems long ago. The screws may not be metal at all, but titanium or cobalt crome. Were this going to present complications you would notice them shortly after surgery and your surgeon would have picked up on it also. Good question. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have bipolar 1 with psychotic features. Is there any anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight? I am on risperdal consta 25 mg, and I have gained 35 pounds in 10 months. I am not on any other medication, and yet I keep on gaining weight. Does all the anti psychotic make you gain weight? Is there any anti psychotic that doesn't make you gain weight?
Avatar m tn well i am not pregnant and have never had any reaction to the metal in my mouthful of fillings. i am not too worried about it. metal fillings last longer and are cheaper and seem to have and adverse reaction only in SOME people. i think this will scare a lot of people into replacing their metal fillings which will make dentists a lot of money but i read somewhere that removing all your metal fillings at once will cause more mercury exposure than living with them.
