1190847 tn?1287363025 They both told me that I probably have a sex hormone imbalance. So, I looked this up on the internet and found out that low estrogen levels can trigger psychosis in people who are predisposed to schizophrenia. One of my sisters has major depressive disorder, and another has rapid cycling type II bipolar. The three of us have different fathers. So, a week before I start my period I self-mutilate, have crying fits, tics, delusions, suicidal thoughts, and paranoia.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to have sex when you got out off a hospital for hormone imbalance about 8 day and they put you on birth control or do you wait
Avatar n tn If you have a hormone imbalance, can it make your birth control less effective? I haven't been able to find much info on this but I suspect I have a hormonal imbalance due to the pill so I was wondering if that could mean the pill would be less effective against pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period. I also suffer from inability to sleep, mood swings cyclical depression, facial hair, hot flushes as well as cold and irregular periods, I am now having 2 periods a month, one really light and short and one a week later that is pretty severe....
Avatar n tn HE SAID THAT I HAD A HORMONE IMBALANCE DUE TO STRESS........HE SAID THAT HE WAS POSITIVE OF THIS AND GAVE ME PROGESTERONE TO TAKE FOR FIVE DAYS........HE WAS RIGHT........EVERYTHING IS BACK ON TRACK AND I WAS CALM AFTER THAT.........WELL, MY DOCTOR WHO DID THE BLOOD WORK AND URINE TEST BEFORE THE OBGYN VISIT AND HORMONES, HAD HER RECEPTIONIST CALL ME AND SAY THAT MY BLOOD SUGAR WAS A LITTLE HIGH AND THAT THE DR. Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
1134902 tn?1296066144 anywho my question is...could this be caused by a hormone imbalance brought on by my intense workout? even tho Im only spotting, Im still cramping. My family doc is booked up until the new year, so I can't see her anytime soon.
Avatar f tn m asking is that do any of you think that these symptoms could be caused by extreme hormone imbalance? No one has ever tested my hormones before. I find it weird that they all started almost a month to the day I quit birth control. Also, my period was never regular when I was younger, I matured late and would sometimes go 6 months without getting my period. I was also anorexic during high school which didn't help. But I am no longer and eat very healthy.
1458302 tn?1285620642 My mother in law has been on levothyroxine for 26 years and decided to quit taking it in May without telling anyone. I guess she was tired of being unable to lose weight and has been trying to give her life a whollistic makeover of a sort. Four months went by without notable side effects (meaning, I didn't notice anything), but then she suddenly seems to have had a psychotic episode that has been ongoing for over a week now.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar n tn Brain MRI Twice Cleared And still comes n goes along with bending down worsening or now latest episode migraines and sound sensitivity. Psych says schizophrenic psychotic meds i dont agree. Im an associate level mental health major and criteria isn't a match at all. MD claims its depression my brain blood tests say im depressed. I laugh i feel fine blood test say imbalance depressed.
Avatar f tn 1st, having an initial psychotic episode at 38 is unusual, so it is probably not something squarely in the "psychotic family" of conditions. It is possible (although unlikely) to have an initial manic episode after having previous depressive episodes. There is information that link paranoid/delusional thinking with menstruation, especially with a history of intense PMS (it is sometimes referred to as premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD).
1256303 tn?1291752568 For schizoaffective, you have to have the psychosis part (the part A criterion for schizophrenia) for at least 2 weeks without being in the middle of a mood episode. If you only ever have psychosis while in a mood episode, then it's probably bipolar with psychotic features. But it doesn't really matter from a treatment standpoint; you'll need an antipsychotic and maybe lithium/an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer as well to control the bipolar and the psychosis either way.
Avatar m tn Let's say i suffer from psychotic depression.I read it is treat with a combination of antipsychotic and triciyclic antidepressants.
1352638 tn?1277025232 It might be a good idea, then, they can also run some blood work on you to rule out anything organic that could be causing your trouble, such as hyper thyroid, blood sugar imbalance, and hormone instability. Believe it or not, certain food allergies can cause your exact symptoms. When you are really noticing them, try to remember what you ate, write it down, then, if you have another rather bad episode, write down what you have eaten and start comparing notes.
Avatar f tn Well, hormones are wacky so never say never but it is more likely a rapid weight gain. 20 pounds in 90 days is a lot very quickly. I would up the exercise and try to soothe yourself some way orally so you don't eat (gum, chew on straws, etc.). Congrats on being smoke free! AWESOME!!! That's not easy to do so good for you!
