Avatar f tn All of these food additives worsen brain excitation and have been shown to specifically target the amygdala nucleus a set of neurons in the brain’s temporal lobe. They are key to the processing of emotions. Increase your vegetable intake to at least 5 servings a day. Reduce your intake of fats especially saturated fats and omega-6 fats Magnesium is the body’s natural calmative agent.
Avatar m tn Expression of one of these proteins (2’5’ oligo A synthase) results in activation of the second of these proteins (a ribonuclease) which can break down mRNA, and expression of the third protein (a protein kinase) results in inhibition of the initiation step of protein synthesis. These activities target viral protein synthesis, but also result in inhibition of host protein synthesis.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Had every test known to mankind. All negative except the protein synthesis with electrofusion, they are doing a bone marrow check in weds. Everything else was fine.. Full blood and smear done. Any ideas? Feel like rap all the time. Terrible back pain, ear ringing.
Avatar m tn Not everyone who is on or who has taken Flomax develops IFIS (intraoperative floppy iris syndrome), but it occurs with the fluid currents in the eye during the emulsification of the cataract nucleus, or the irrigation-aspiration of the cortex. Fortunately, we have good ways of dealing with IFIS, such as intraocular epinephrine, viscoelastics, and the Malyugin Ring pupil expander.
Avatar n tn Why was it suggested? Who suggested it to you? This supplement seems like it's designed for bodybuilders. It's not regulated by the FDA, so a pharmacist may not have information on contraindications. Still, a call to your Copaxone pharmacy as well as your PCP are in order.
Avatar m tn Since some of the assembled cores are shuttled back into the nucleus, strongly reducing these dna containing cores will slowly reduce the cccDNA amount in the nucleus. This is only a moderate effect, thus the hbsag reduction under antivirals is quite modest. Furthermore and quite importantly antivirals will have zero effect on hbsag produced from integrated hbv dna.
Avatar m tn Inhibiting the virus X protein This work raises the possibility of developing new therapeutic agents that target the X protein and prevent the virus escaping from liver cell defences. «Understanding this mechanism provides new therapeutic possibilities. Research continues to apply this fundamental discovery to the development of innovative drugs that could inhibit the X protein» highlights Dr. Simon Fletcher, from Gilead Sciences, Inc.
Avatar m tn and it makes Protein synthesis inhibitor antibiotics i mean is this medicine affected my body and the Hiv virus couldnt produce itself by using trna with replication and my Elisa test couldnt catch it... Can it be like that and effect my body??? Thank you so much lovely people...
Avatar f tn The fluid is predominantly in my left leg with just a little in the right. You can press dents in my ankles and chins. My calves are tight quite often to the point they ache when I walk. Some days are worse than others. I finally decided to visit a doctor yesterday and all she did was some blood work to determine if it was due to a thyroid problem or diabetes. The lab work came back perfectly normal.
Avatar n tn 2) there is fluid back up from the liver or large blood vessels into the peritoneal cavity -- known as portal hypertension; 3) low protein state in the body; and 4) miscellaneous.
Avatar f tn Moderate right sided l5/s1 paracentral disc protrusion impinging upon the theca sac and in intimate contact with the descending right s1 nerve root. The is a small annular tear. 2. (CT) There is minor split cord L2 through L4 2.1 (MRI) There is minimal l4/5 annular bulge. My doctor has asked me to take EPDIURAL Injection at l5/s1. Still i feel pain. I would like to request you please answer me the following questions. 1. How serious is this ? 2.
Avatar f tn Dear bonbon, I found the following upon a quick search on the web. As noted in the following articles the caudate is near the front of the brain and gliosis is means injury to brain where a lesion has formed after the injury. I hope the following articles will explain it in more detail for you. I do not know what significance it has to MS. "The caudate nucleus plays an important role in the brain of many animals including humans.
Avatar n tn First, platelets go to the area, and release several substances including one particular substance called thromboxane, and other clotting factors are recruited to the area, a clot then a scab eventually forms. This process occurs everywhere in the body to stop a bleed. NSAIDs like ibuprofen and vioxx inhibit the formation of some of the molecules involved in the clotting cascade, so that when bleeding occurs, the body's normal response to the bleeding is impaired.
335728 tn?1331414412 A further lesion is seen adjacent to the trigone of the occipital horn of the lateral ventricle on the right side. This appears to be in the area of the optic radiation. The lesion which appeared on the CT scan as a lacunar infarct of the lentiform nucleus most likely represents a dilated perivascular space. No temporal lobe lesions are seen. IMPRESSION: Multiple small lesions of high signal intensity are seen in the periventricular white matter.
Avatar f tn (Other forms are (IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD) In one test they measure the overall amount of antibodies of all kinds that are currently being produced in the CSF. This calculation gives the rate of IgG Synthesis. In times of very active immune activity in the Central Nervous System the IgG Synthesis rate will be elevated, but if the immune activity (also referred to as immune inflammation) settles down, the Synthesis Rate will also drop.
3065110 tn?1340704878 kidney issues and valve issues in the veins and arteries not working properly, age along with systemic slowing down......it may not be an issue with your heart at all. I would think a second opinion would be called for if your doctor is ignoring this, however. You said you have cut back your salt, in what way have you done this?
Avatar f tn yet, but I have higher than normal albumin, and higher than normal IgG synthesis rate... that, plus the MRIs, plus the symptoms.... might equal a diagnosis when I go back to the neuro doc on the 26th.... I don't comment much, but I really appreciate all the info here... it helps tremendously!
Avatar f tn it has been identified as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions involving energy metabolism and protein and nucleic acid synthesis. Magnesium can help prevent and treat migraine and cluster headaches Magnesium is far safer, cheaper, and often more effective than many expensive drugs with side-effect prescribe to migraine sufferers. Diarrhea is one side effect of magnesium intake.
Avatar m tn Start taking more proteins in your diet from natural sources. At the same time decreased the weight you lift regularly. Yes I mean decrease the weight, not increase. This is supposed to help by adding more muscle mass and at the same time maintaining the tone of the body. You can try this for 2 to 3 months to see the results. Also do not do weight training more than 3 to 4 days a week. Good luck.
Avatar f tn The type of oligoclonal bands is constant for each MS patient throughout the course of the disease. Oligoclonal bands occur in the CSF only (not in the serum). These quantitative and qualitative CSF changes indicate that in MS, there is intrathecal immunoglobulin production. In addition, the CSF in MS often contains myelin fragments and myelin basic protein (MBP). MBP can be detected by radioimmunoassay. MBP is not specific for MS.
Avatar m tn In a situation like that, sudden onset of double vision IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ANGIOPLASTY the problem is usually related to the angioplasty and represents an emboli to the brain/brainstem causing damage to the 6th cranial nerve nucleus. It would be helpful to have an ophthalmologist look at the retina looking for other emboli and also doing a visual field to see if there is field damage. Both are common in strokes following internal or external vascular surgery.
1373852 tn?1307843048 When evaluating oligoclonal bands in the CSF, you must also look at the oligoclonal bands (OCBs) in the serum (i.e,. part of the blood) to ensure that the OCBs in the CSF were not passively transferred from the serum. OCBs are markers of immunological processes such as multiple sclerosis. In your history, it would be important to compare the serum to the CSF given the encephalitis/infections. If you have not done so, you should follow up with a neurologist to further evaluate.
Avatar f tn Hello dr, Why I asked this question is ..........recently in my dept, i got an instruction to report protein in urine as trace even if the protein strip shows 'Nil'..... and urine microscopy shows even 10-12 pus cells........ now i want to know whether it is true ...... in all mild urinary infections renal involvement is there?...........or proteinuria occurs...... i hav done heat and acetic acid method to confirm it..........but didnt find anything............please help...
Avatar f tn The study, appearing in The Journal of Neuroscience, showed that when rats taking large doses of cocaine are withdrawn from the drug, the production of GLT1 in the nucleus accumbens, a region of the brain implicated in motivation, begins to decrease. But if the rats receive ceftriaxone, an antibiotic used to treat meningitis, GLT1 production increases during the withdrawal period and decreases cocaine craving.
