Protein in urine and diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Protein in urine and diabetes

protein

Avatar f tn I have diabetes type 2.
Avatar n tn I know someone who developed protein in the urine and kidney problems after being on a medication for diabetes. I don;t recall which one it was. If you are on medication, I would ask your doctor if you should switch to a different one. You know, you can alter or possibly even eliminate your diabetes by staying away from high fructose corn syrup (read all labels) and cutting back on sugars and starches. Take care!
8408613 tn?1414894692 So I went to the hospital the other night and they told me there was 30 mg of protein in my urine. Is that a lot?? I had to do the 24 hour pee test and they are checking me for pre eclampsia.
5889951 tn?1380316047 Protein Excess protein in your urine can be a sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney damage, or certain other disorders. Later in your pregnancy, it can also be a sign of preeclampsia if it's accompanied by high blood pressure. If you have protein in your urine but your blood pressure is normal, your sample will be sent to the lab for a culture to see whether you have a UTI.
1305271 tn?1320984748 Protein in the urine in not a sign of pregnancy but can result in pregnant women who expereince a complication called preeclampsia (does not occur until 2nd-3rd trimester). Protein in your urine could indicate a problem with your kidneys. I do hope you have a follow-up with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Protein in urine discovered on a microalbumin test may often be the earliest sign of diabetic kidney damage. Have you seen a Nephralogist to rule kidney issues or renal pathway infection? Try posting on the Kidney Disease & Disorders & Nutrition forums. Not much more I can help you with since your concern doesn't appear to be about diabetes. Good luck.
9801256 tn?1412729114 Today i had the midwife and she said i had protein in my urine she's sending me to my gp tomorrow for further tests im 25 weeks pregnant what does it mean when you have protein in you're urine? I read that it could be early stages of pre clampsina or diabetes?
Avatar f tn Today I went to the doctor because I have been itching like crazy, but my doctor is straight up with me and he told me that I have protein and glucose in my urine. I have had two uti’s in the past 2 months, I have been itching like crazy, I have been very tired, and my blood pressure is higher for a person of my size. I am 16, 5’7 and I weigh 130 lbs.
Avatar m tn Hello all, went and had a physical the other day, and showed trace amounts of blood, protein and ketones in urine. The doctor told me not to be concerned because this was only trace amounts. However, I was worried so went and seen my PCP, and she did urine and blood work. It showed that I did have blood in my urine(microscopic) and blood showed higher BUN, and creatine. I cant remember if she said anything about my GFR, because it was a blur.
Avatar f tn Thanks Darci3 and Zim90 but r they checking for glucose too meaning diabetes?
Avatar n tn However, for your peace of mind and education, you may want to make an appointment with a nephrologist to learn more about your particular syptoms and also to learn more about diabetes and kidney disease in general. A nephrologist will be able to give you more detailed information about the progression of kidney disease and what symptoms you might be experiencing if you were really in trouble.
Avatar n tn Ketones and proteins in the urine can result from many factors, like excessive exercise, dehydration, high protein diet, kidney problems, and diabetes. Diabetes in the initial stages does not produce glucose in urine. However neither will it bring about ketones and proteins in the urine at an early stage. These are generally the signs of uncontrolled diabetes. You need to check the blood sugar fasting (8-12 hours) and two hours after a proper meal.
Avatar n tn Anyone else have this-it means protein in urine i believe and i have a complex kidney cyst . is this a serious thing.
Avatar n tn Excess protein in the urine is called as proteinuria and usually it is albumin that is lost through urine. Some protein is normal in the urine. A 24 hour estimation of protein loss in urine would be optimal to estimate the level of proteinuria. Conditions which can cause proteinuria are nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, dehydration, collagen vascular diseases, strenuous exercises, diabetes mellitus, infections, multiple myeloma etc.
Avatar f tn I had a really bad kidney infection in January so Im on an antibiotic but I noticed my right kidney has been hurting so I went to the dr today and I had blood in my urine. They said its probably just a kidney stone. Then they did an ultrasound to check on the baby well my placenta has calcium spots on it, which she said is the placenta preparing for labor. Im only 33 weeks, she paused for a long time before saying if it was normal. There was a lot of white spots.
Avatar n tn I had protein in my urine and then found out I had gestational diabetes. Could have some high blood sugar going on.
1315350 tn?1311602951 A couple of weeks ago, I had lab work done which included a urine sample, which showed there was a trace of blood and 30 mg/dl of protein in my urine. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for any insight!
Avatar f tn Did they test your key tones in your urine or through a blood test? If key tones in tour urine is high than it is normally a sign of dehydration. Jist drink lots of fluids.
Avatar m tn And I have protein in my urine and my blood sugars are not that great, either. (further dehydration?

Avatar f tn My daughters test revealed a trace of protein in her urine. We're also looking for any signs of an autoimmune disease. What can cause protein in the urine and what does a "trace" signify?
Avatar n tn OK, so my Dr said my urinalysis came back with trace of ketones and protein in my urine. He said its probably not significant and should check it again another day. Can someone tell me how common or uncommon that is? I hadnt eatin like like 16 hours before hand, except for alittle something maybe 20 minutes before I gave the urine sample. Could this have caused it? I was really worried since I get cloudy urine after eating dairy, and only after dairy.
