prometrium

440684 tn?1204742363 I took in early pregnany to help get my progestrone levels up but I quit at 11 weeks, I had no side effect but it does make a mess so I'd wear a panty liner with it....
415867 tn?1323365503 Hey ladies! Obviously me and the dh are nervous about this pregnancy as we have been here before and its ended in disaster unfortunately so we are very hesitant. Is it still ok to have intercourse in early pregnancy? I don't know exactly how far along I am as I thought I had my period and to find out it was just bad implantation bleeding. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Prometrium twice a day to supplement a drop in progesterone early in my pregnancy. I am already at 13 weeks, have heard a heartbeat and seen the baby in utero doing well. My doc said that it is safe to discontinue the use of the Prometrium at this time. Just wondering what others' experiences were with progesterone supplementation. I am so nervous to stop supplementing!
231441 tn?1333892766 I too worried in my early pregnancy due to 3 consecutive early miscarriages. I had lots of cramping up until 13 weeks, I also took progesterone. I'm now 23 weeks & all is great. Congratulations & God bless you during this pregnancy.
1610106 tn?1298173845 I wonder if your levels start to decrease before taking the prometrium can a pregnancy still continue? meaning could the prometrium bring the levels up after they go down, or does it always result in MC?
175665 tn?1306459024 Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at 2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week.
Avatar n tn My ob/gyn has put me on Prometrium to help regulate my menstrual cycle. My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels. This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant. I still have not gotten my period, and I am 3 days late.
971074 tn?1362759766 they clearly say preg...no second guessing...you may just be very early in your preg and all the water you drank water downed your HCG levels...ive also heard that docs tests are not as sensitive as ones we buy over the counter...im sure your blood test will come back positive when do you get your results?
Avatar f tn I had my 3rd IUI on 5/7/08. I took Clomid on days 5-9. This morning I was not feeling well (nausea, tired, etc). I am really hoping that I am pregnant but I'm not sure if my "symptoms" are just in my head or real. It seems too early to have pregnancy symptoms but what do you think? Has anyone had symptoms this early on? Could they just be related to Clomis? Any input is very much appreciated. Thanks!
182352 tn?1231183410 hi everyone. i am 5 wks pregnant & my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I DO know that as far as progesterone, you need enough of it to sustain a pregnancy. Especially in early pregnancy..something about until the placenta can fully form and take over providing the progesterone for the baby. Anyways, wished I could've been of more help. Good luck to you!! Take Care!!
Avatar f tn Hi. I am currently 6weeks 5 days pregnant (3rd pregnancy - other 2 ended in miscarriages). We have been having my hcg levels and progesterone levels monitored due to my history with miscarriages. HCG levels were going through the roof for a while with a doubling time of 48 hours. This last hcg test was much lower than I had anticipated due to the others. It had a doubling time of almost 100 hours.
Avatar f tn I took prometrium to help me not MC with my 3rd pregnancy, but only in the begining of the pregnancy, I was later put ona different type of medication to keep me from contracting until 36 weeks. i had a happy healthy little boy who has had no side effect that are apparent (he is now 2). if your concerned call your Dr office even if you don't have an appointment they can discus your concerns witht the medication over the phone or get you in sooner!
1564074 tn?1334490908 m sorry to hear about your low number. They like to see it at least in the double digits in early pregnancy, so hopefully the prometrium will help bring it up. Best of luck with everything!
611020 tn?1290571629 I have been on prometrium every pregnancy (this one included) except my first one. I miscarried 4 times while taking it, and had the bleeding as expected. It won't stop symptoms, I know that from personal experience. Good luck to you!!
290867 tn?1333569278 I had a m/c about 5 months before that, so I believe the Prometrium helped me sustain the pregnancy. Prometrium is a progesteron supplement, the lack of progesterone can lead to m/c, so it is supposed to help with keeping the pregnancy. Like the others said, around the end of the first trimester the placenta takes over and you no longer need the supplments.
1310773 tn?1317095445 But today I got up to let my doggies out, and as I was moving around I felt really dizzy... Is this the prometrium or could it be an early symptom? It really freaked me out, I'm trying not to get my hopes up as usual, but just looking for some hope I guess... Is it too early????
Avatar f tn You should check with your dr. I was on Prometrium (progesterone) from 2dpo and through my 1st trimester, so that shouldn't be a problem. A neg blood test could be mistaken, IF it was done too early. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I have had one miscarriage at 4 months and I fear I am probably having another one with my second pregnancy I have been prescribed Prometrium and I am just wondering if it has done any good to any one etc. Thank you.
628735 tn?1273875777 Yeah, it is kind of ironic that prometrium has that warning when it is such a common supplement in early pregnancy. But don't worry, it's really not an issue. Lots and lots of women are using it through the first trimester. As for when to start taking them, it depends on what it is used for. Some women take it every cycle after ovulation if their levels are too low to sustain a possible pregnancy...or to extend a luteal phase defect.
Avatar f tn ) By all means, if you have been having unprotected sex and expected a period to come, go ahead and take a pregnancy test. Two weeks after you think you ovulated, most pregnancy tests are accurate. But it can take a while for prometrium to work to bring on a period (especially the first time you use it), so that might be what is happening. If you're trying to get pregnant, I hope that is the reason your period didn't come when expected after stopping the prometrium.
Avatar f tn Someone please help/ My obgyn prescribed me with prometrium because there was a possibilty that a hormone in my body was low. The same day he prescribed the meds, he ordered some labs and put me on bed rest and had me schedule a follow up in a week. I got the medicine filled at the pharmacy but wasn't exactly comfortable with taking them because my doctor informed me that prometrium is not fda approved. I decided not to take the medication.
1262373 tn?1281543782 Yes, Prometrium would not force a period.
1328947 tn?1295011446 Anything below 10 is low, so I am assuming yours must have been around there for your doctor to put you on prometrium. My High Risk OB said your body can sustain a pregnancy as long as your progesterone is greater than 5, but he prefers over 10. I know it is hard not to stress but trust that everything will be okay! Good luck!
543791 tn?1216381777 Only 25% of fertilized eggs will result in a healthy pregnancy. If you carry the baby long enough to detect heart rate on ultra sound and then miscarry, then they are a little more concerned and would probably treat it more aggresively. My hemoglobin and ultra sound were normal. They want me to try Prometrium first (progesterone) He said it's very common for women to need progesterone during pregnancy and is the least invasive step.
