prometrium dosage pregnancy

Ok, so just got my prescription filled for progesterone supplements. This time it's a higher dosage...200mg X3, and it's the first time they have been prescribed to me in the form of vaginal suppositories. I have taken them orally in the past (as per my OB), but my RE prefers them vaginally, mainly due to side effects like being tired. And because this is a higher dosage then I've taken before, she's thinks this will be easier for me.

I am 6w4d pregnant... third pregnancy after two m/c's in the first trimesters... and I am concerned about my progesterone levels. My initial labs showed a progesterone level of 15.5, and my hcg more than doubled. My OB prescribed Prometrium 200mg, saying he wanted the progesterone level >20. My concern is his refusal to check my progesterone level after taking the Prometrium.

Is the dr going to test you every other day to see if the progesterone levels increase so they will know if they should increase the dosage or if it is fine at the dosage they have you on? I take prometrium when I get pregnant and have found that it has a great effect on helping the progesterone levels.

In all honesty, pounding heart and trouble sleeping are more typically symptoms of anxiety. Prometrium side effects are more likely to mimic pregnancy symptoms such as being very sleepy, sore breasts, etc. Abdominal ultrasound is fine at about 6 weeks usually. It can depend on the skill of the tech and the quality of the equipment. Transvaginal is safe. The spotting you hear about afterwards is typically due to cervix irritation which is very soft right now. It doesn't harm the baby.

t know should I find another doctor....Would it be OK to come off Prometrium all of a sudden and I should reduce my dosage to once a day...Please help..so confused...

When I found out my HCG level on the 3rd, I was told to up the dosage of prometrium from 100mg to 200mg. When my HCG level dropped, I was told to stop the prometrium due to the impending miscarriage. I go for an ultrasound on the 8th, but, at this point, I am in the process of having a miscarriage. I passed some tissue earlier this afternoon and have had the spotting turn to bleeding, which has been pretty consistent. I am pretty much just numb at this point....

Very quickly, since I went off the pill in August 2007, I suffered a m/c in December. On 4/14 AF came on time (for the first time might I add) so I figured maybe my cycle will be regular. Well it was from 4/14-4/18 and pretty much consisted of heavy spotting and barely any cramping (unusual for me).

I take prometrium for 10 days Iinto the 2nd day I have headaches ,,this morning I took them 400 mg I was like a druggie or drunk I couldnt funtion I didnt know what my computer was ,, my daughter thought I was drinking ..I dont drink lol .. why is this happening to me , my second month on them ,, headaches last time but not the slurring or confusion ..I had a choice to take 1 each day for 30 days or 2 for 10 ..

I have been taking a vaginal dose of prometrium at night before bed now for about a week . t cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium.It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy.

I was on prometrium with my last pregnancy, and although the pregnancy didn't work out, it had nothing to do with prometrium. There are so many women on here who took it during pregnancy to have all turn out just fine. Its a pretty common thing to give us "older" expecting moms. I already have a prescription for it as I am to start taking it again as soon as I get another positve pregnancy test. As far as I know its perfectly safe to take during pregnancy.

I think that if your body was having trouble sustaining this pregnancy the prometrium would help, but sometimes things like that wont help if your body senses something wrong with the embryo and stops on its own. With every question there are so many different answers, its so hard for everything to be so indefinite. I am currently 5 and a half weeks pregnant and I am personally choosing to wait until I'm 8-9 weeks to go to the doctors for this specific reason.

Yes lot of women with progesterone take prometrium during pregnancy! I myself took progesterone injections but its about the same thing. Ive read lots of posts where people were taking glucophage also and it seems to be helpful.

ve heard that when you are pregnant, your blood vessels dilate and I wonder if my headache is related to prometrium or possible pregnancy. When I first started prometrium, I was exhausted, but I got over that in 2 days. Since then, I've had no side effects except for these headaches. Has anyone experienced this before?

My only symptoms of the endo are extreme lower back pain and cramps when I ovulate. Ten days ago I had a frozen embryo transfer, and am on my two week wait until my blood pregnancy test. (3 sleeps left) The last two nights asleep, I have been awakened by the same kind of ovulation pains & cramps. I am certain that there is no way I could be ovulating right now, and am wondering if maybe it might be my endometriosis that is acting up because of the estrogen and prometrium I am taking.

Hi, I was take Prometrium for the first 10 weeks of my pregnancy and now im not on it i havent had another check up since i stopped taking it. I was just wondering if anyone else had to take it and how it went after the doctor took them off of it??

Studies in humans cannot rule out the possibility of harm. Therefore, Prometrium capsules should be used during pregnancy only if indicated.

When I put patients on prometrium, I recommend a pregnancy test on day 32 or 33, and if the test is negative I suggest stopping the prometrium since the long periods can be a bit misleading.
