I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

Hi i am on 40mg of Omeprazole for acid reflux. Has anyone here had side effects from it like loose stools? For the past two weeks or so my bowel movements have been rather odd...loose in the morning but ok towards the end of the day...no blood, but causing soreness around my anus afterwards....

Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?

If so can you tell me if you are having side effects from them? I currently take one 20mg Prilosec tablet and they seem to make me dizzy and light headed. I also notice pain in my lower abdomin.

There are a lot of side-effects when PPIs are taken. Constipation and diarrhea can be two of them.

m not really sure of the side effects of Omeprazole (Prilosec). But I do know you might be able to find some info on it in the Health Pages Tab. Were you tested for Thyroid problems? And I'm not talking about them just pulling a TSH value on you. You would need FreeT3 and FreeT4 values for it to be sufficient info to see if you have a Thyroid issue. The fatigue, light headedness, nausea, and heart burn/ GERD are all symptoms of Thyroid issues.

I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.

m wondering if the medications for gerd and acid reflux can cause high bloodpreasure and palpatations. i suffered with acid reflux for years and then i got on some prilosec and my symptoms went away but i started getting bad head aches and it felt like my heart was skipping so i went to the doc and he said i had high blood preasure but my colesteral was good. I then changed my diet and wheened myself off the prilosec and all the symptoms went away.

Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me. I'm just wondering what else I can do to alleviate my water brash symptoms.
