Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec dosage for adults

prilosec

Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
Avatar f tn Do not self prescribe and I would suggest you to follow up with a gastroenterologist for a proper diagnosis and for titration of the dosage for you. Take care!
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I keep thinking I need my dosage raised but no one will listen to me. Am I thinking the right way or not? Help! Need your advise.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your quick response. I've been taking prilosec off and on for 7 months (the length of my mysterious illness) BUT I've only been taking it 2x a day faithfully for about a little over a week. I've been trying to eat better Examle. No spicy foods, not eating anyting real solid 3 to 4 hours before sleeping except maybe a popcile. Trying to lose weight and exercise and trying to lay off the caffeine and carbonated bevereges(which is extremly hard for me but Im doing it.
485259 tn?1519047026 But this over the counter liquid, 1 TBS for adults, worked wonders. Did not make me sleeply like other antinausea meds out there. Just posting in case it can help someone else have a better day because it's bad enough to have pain, but the side effects that come with it are just too much some days! But of course, check with your doctor before adding anything, even OTC drugs to your cocktails....
Avatar f tn HPylori hides out in the outlet of the stomach, the first stage of the intestine, then when the good bacteria is killed off, the HPylori flourishes, and causes a large increase in stomach acid, which also inflames the esophagus, this is why you have stomach pain and chest pain when you have a battle with this bacteria, The treatment for this bacteria is two types very strong (Not just one) Anti-biotics and an acid pump prohibitor like prilosec or omeprazole, The anti-biotic dosage can be as hig
Avatar m tn Maybe I need to be on a higher dosage. Thank you very much for your help! I will call my ENT today.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am curious that if my symptoms are "prilosec" related, how soon should they subside after stopping the medication? I have been on the medication for about 4 months and my symptoms have been diarreah the whole time taking the meds and pvc's (palpitations) for the last two months. I've already had a full cardio workup too. Thank you so much. I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet on when my symptoms should subside after stopping prilosec.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar n tn discomfort swallowing, if those symptoms come back, I will definitely go back on two doses per day. My daughter has been on Prilosec/Nexium for years for Reflux. Over the past 9 mos. she has developed a severely distended stomach, stomach pain, chronic gas problems & a small amount of blood in her urine (can be a side effect of Prilosec). Our gastroenterologist asked her, as well, to try one dose of Prilosec per day to see if that improves these symptoms.
Avatar n tn I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. What would be the appropriate dosage range for me if I were to take this medication? I’ve read that it may have negative effects on the heart. I’m considering talking with my PCP about this but am trying to find out on my own first. Would 60 mg/day be too much?
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
2107861 tn?1346470646 There are other long-acting medications that may not cause trouble with your stomach. Do you take anything like Prilosec? I thought my stomach was okay for years ... until it wasn't. The Prilosec has helped me tremendously. The patch (I'm assuming you're talking about the Fentanyl patch?) works well for pain but again, do your own research. I didn't care for it as if I stopped moving for a few seconds, I'd nod off ... not good when you have kids.
Avatar f tn Oh, my, MB, THIS is where you belong! For sure, for sure! For one thing so many of us already know you. For another, Autoimmune Encephalitis is the closest mimic to MS that is known. So we here are going through very much what you are going through. We already have 2 others here as permanent members who have been diagnosed with ADEM (Acute Disseminated EncephaloMyelitis). Santana is one and I can't remember right off the other. So we talk about it all the time.
Avatar f tn Been on Synthroid for many years and Prilosec for over 3 years I think. I was also told to take the Synthroid in the am and Prilosec in pm. I had not considered Prilosec as a possible reason, but I had noticed that my temp. had gone down and I felt the need for more thyroid. When I understood the need to check free T3 and the doctor checked it, I found that I was not converting T4 to T3 very well. So starting 4 days ago, I was switched to a T4/T3 type of med.---Armour thyroid.
Avatar n tn my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..
Avatar n tn My first thought was it was my Levoxyl, but I have been taking it for nearly 5 years (thyroidectomy for cancer), and taking that particular pill (88mcg) for over a year. My dosage had been increased slightly four weeks earlier by alternating the 88 mcg every other day with a 100 mcg. The rash faded, but returns nearly every morning and usually fades after about an hour.
Avatar f tn Pylori), a diet high in protein or a medication. In the infection senario, a PPI, i.e. Prilosec and something for the infection is prescribed. Best person to sort this out would be the GI Specialist. If you are in the USA, Prilosec is available OTC, however, I am not sure about the strength/dosage available or cost.
Avatar m tn I have had this for 2 months now. I have taken Prilosec and Pecid Complete and even Benedryl thinking it might be an allergic reaction, but nothing helps. Please can you give me something to go on.

Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar m tn ve been taking PRILOSEC OTC (non-prescription) for quite awhile, after years on the original prescription brand Prilosec. With my current insurance I can save money by getting generic prescription omeprazole. Now, in the past I wouldn't have been as concerned about it. Back before losing weight improved my *symptomatic" acid reflux, I would have just thought, "well, if you don't have an increase in heartburn, the generic rx is working just as well as Prilosec OTC.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
