It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.

I have been taking prevacid my entire pregnancy. I have ulcers and really bad acid reflux. I called my drs office to make sure it was ok and the nurse saidit was safe. It works wonders for me. I don't get heartburn unless I miss a day. Which I never do because it's so bad. I'm 8 weeks +4 and everything is going fine with baby.

t work, or stops working like in my case, Prevacid is also safe during pregnancy and works like a charm. I had it real bad this last time and Prevacid was all that would help me.

I am not sure what else they can test for since everything else came back normal (ekg, echo, and event monitor) I just want to enjoy the rest of this pregnancy without worrying about these hurting the baby or myself. Ughhh!

My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

Um o cant remember if this is fact bit i do believe it is not ok. But double check. They usually say just drink milk. I forced the acid up n out then drank milk....that usually helped.

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

I had it really bad with this pregnancy and my first... my first everything stopped working so my doctor prescribed me with a very high mg of zantac and this time around my doctor put me on a very high mg of prevacid.. the only thing that ***** about the prevacid is that you gotta take 30 mins before breakfast and it makes you nauseous but it works all day long.. for sure talk to your doctor cause what they can prescribe works 20x better then what you get over the counter..

I have the worst acid reflux. I've had it my whole pregnancy and it *****. Also this after taste after eating ***** too. Did anyone do anything to ease the two?

You can take prisoner of Prevacid during pregnancy. And I have heard it really helps. I just drink glass after glass of milk. Because I don't like meds.

I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Now off hydro 5 days, taking prevacid again. I will deal with acid reflux and take my prevacid..Stress does make it flare up really bad...so just maybe I can get it back under control soon...

After taking Prevacid, I gain my appetite back. The problem is, I have develope new symptoms after taking prevacid for 1 week. I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.

Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
