Lyme is notorious for causing adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues. I have some symptoms of hypothyroidism that were induced by using oxycodone (i.e. cold hands and feet, cold intolerance, dry skin, loss of hair (scalp, eye brows, and body hair). I've been losing my hair since I was 19, which is when I believe I was first infected...and it's becoming very noticable a frustrating.
6 cats in a household is fine! You are giving all these cats a home, which is much better than the alternative.
This type of hair loss is most commonly due to behavioral barbarism, food or environmental allergies, or, mites or fungal skin infections, such as ringworm. If it was due to an a fungal or mite infection other cats in your household would probably be exhibiting symptoms.
Please take him to the vet for evaluation. The vet can perform a skin scraping and other diagnostic tests.
8 months later it suddenly began falling out very rapidly and 3 weeks later I lost 75% of my hair. I shaved my head and here it is now 3 months after shaving my head and the hair has not grown back also I have now lost every hair on my body including eyebrows and lashes the last to go. I did 3 months with a pulsed does of prednisolone 300mg per dose once a month, No change. Nothing has worked.
For the last few months, my cat has developed scabs underneath her fur all the way down her spine and on her head. I'm 21M and about 15 days ago, my left eye got red. As I had experienced this before and it usually went away with use of artificial tears, I started using it but unlike other times, it didn't improve. So we went to an oculoplastic surgeon and he prescribed Dexamethasone, Ciprofloxacin, and Cholamphenicol drops alongside artificial tear. However, he also ordered Orbital CT and TFT.
At first this seemed to help but after she came off of the prednisolone she started to lose hair again and the flakes started again. My vet then advised me to give her a constant dose of the prednisolone i.e 1 tablet every other day. This did not work.The yellow flakes are now all over her body and she scratches all night. She also has problems shaking her head because the ear seems to be paining her.
The doctor has prescribed two types of eye drops to be administered 4 times a day. They are ketorolac tromethamine and prednisolone acetate. Will my vision recover or is this just stopping further loss? I use to have better than 20/20 and am praying I will get it back.

After about a week, Doc put me on a 10 day prednisone regime. 50 mg for two days, followed by 40 mg for two days, until I had two days of 10 mg. After about 3 days, I had no irritation or hair loss. I visited my general physician and he advised me to stop the prednisone at this time. I did.
Easy bruising can occur when the blood vessels are weakened by diseases like scurvy, aging, certain medications such as aspirin, prednisone and prednisolone, or due to absent or deficient blood-clotting elements. I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?
My Mother responded really well to the prednisolone and has not coughed since she has completed the course last Friday (7th November 2008). The only draw-back to the Prednisolone has been that she has experienced steroid induced diabetes which has now reverted. She has also continued with her inhalers and feels more relief from them now.
Prior to commencing on the prednisolone my Mother was sent for a much needed Chest X Ray.
I took an HIV 1/2 third generation antibody test at a clinic just 12 days after I stopped taking the Prednisolone (corticosteroid) medication, my results for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies came back negative. Taking note that at that time I also still was on my Loratadine medication for another two days.
The negative HIV 1/2 third generation antibody test result was taken 30 weeks after possible exposure which was already past the window period of 6 months.
Our cat WILL NOT stop licking himself. Ripping out his hair and creating huge red sores. We've got him on prednisolone from the vet, had an allergy shot, sprayed hydrogen peroxide, no chew, and even tried wrapping the wound but he still manages to lick and lick and lick. Is there a nasty tasting home remedy we can make to spray on him to get him to stop.
Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. The main problem at the moment is just the burning face and neck, specially cheeks just under my eyes and under the chin. The burning once goes from one cheek to another or to the neck or everywhere at the same time. Is it normal in such cases? Thank you.
hi - i've had dry eyes for one year, the initial symptoms were just dry eyes, this increased to mucins, then itching, redness, tearing. i've been to so many consultant opthalmologists. i'm now 29, female, nothing is helping. my current diagnosis is ocular allergies or rosacea. i have no skin symptoms, but have noticed a red nose. anyway, all of the doctors say there are no signs of blepharitis. I am on a tetracycline antibiotic for acne - for several years.
I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,
Check your thyroid levels
That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )
You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
