prednisone side effects hair loss

I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!

It appears that complaints about hair loss are near the top of the list of side effects reported with extended prednisone use..... Something about it changes the hormone levels. the good news is it seems it is not a permanent problem - the hair recovers after the prednisone is stopped. I'm no medical expert, so as always please consult your doctor and make sure what is causing your problems.

My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?

Ever since 2007 that I have been having the thyroid issues and took the prednisone and PROPYLTHIOURACIL my left side of face is swollen - cheek and undereye bag. I am also growing a lot of coarse hair on my chin and my cholesterol - triglycerides are high. I gained some weight and have a hair loss. I wanted to find if taking the prednisone and propylthiouracil could be cause of all these? I took the medicines couple of weeks longer than I should have.

My vet is having me increase her prednisone. My concern is that the hair loss, itching, etc. is a result of these 2 medications being taking for 3 years now and that this is the start of something else caused by these 2 medications. Any thoughts/ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.

It could be that you have not reached your optimal level. I am thinking of the frees. When I was on the upper range for both frees my hair stopped falling, before that, never. It would be useful if you post your test results. Some members here like to see the numbers to have a better idea.

How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.

I have UC and have been on remicade and prednisone. After being on prednisone for a few months, my hair started falling out and thinning. I had really this hair that I always hated, and now its so thin its gross, to me, at least. Most people cant even tell because they don't know what I looked like before. I have been told by multiple drs that after I am off the prednisone, the effects should reverse itself. Unfortunately, I do not know any other way to get your hair to grow back.

t like the side effects of the Imuran, I am losing my hair for one, but I know the side effects of methotrexate are probably pretty rough too. I see the new breast surgeon this coming Wednesday to get another opinion, but I think it's time for me to step in as the patient and get myself off some of these meds and demand he switch me. I've never heard of hair loss as a side effect of Percocet, but if your friend is on any steroid for inflammation from her broken neck, it's possible the steroid could be at least a contributing factor to the hair loss. Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.

Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....

I also kept my hair with Gemzar. But I do have to admit that it was a hard chemo for me. I was also on the 3 week on and 1 week off schedule. Keep in mind, as Gail said, chemo affects all of us differently. But after my treatments, I had about 2 hours before it started to hit me. I never experienced nausea or vomiting, but I felt really bad for about 3 days. The upside was that after I was on it for awhile, the side effects gradually started to ease up.

She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica?She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?

s muzzle. Prednisone does work great, but the side effects can be very bad-diabetes and a suppressed immune system which will make kitty more vulnerable to infections. I personally use an INHALED steroid which are much less likely to cause those problems-I'm not sure if these are available to cats or not. I'd definitely ask the vet about that-it would control your kitty's symptoms and make him/her a much happier kitty!

Hi I am on day 4 of a prednisone taper for sudden low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I am concerned about side hearing loss, and side effects of medication. I thought prednisone increased energy, I am exhausted. My tinnitus keeps changing ears and volumes. Has anyone else experienced this and what other side effects have you experienced after 3 weeks on this stuff?

Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.

s merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
