Avatar n tn what is the difference between Potassium Chloride, Potassium Nitrate and Potassium Citrate?
Avatar m tn Potassium does come in forms as potassium gluconate, aspartate, citrate, hydrochloride, or chloride. Important you do not go over 1500mg daily with potassium supplementation. Potassium should come from your diet and almost all foods have it. Fruits, vegetable, certain meats, and grains have the most amounts.
Avatar n tn I've been told I should increase my electrolyte intake. I've done so but am still having problems. I'm wondering if it's because of the type of electrolytes I've been using, mainly potassium citrate and magnesium citrate. I'm mainly interested in the best electrolytes for neural and brain health and was wondering if someone could suggest me some. I'm kind of interested in magnesium chloride.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the breakdown. I was trying to find malate or citrate at Walmart or somewhere and couldn't find it...not even in CVS or Walgreens. So I called my gyno doc who is the one who just did my bloodwork and starting me on prescrip vitamins for the D deficiency etc and she told me to continue taking Mag Ox. Which is odd because if it's not very soluble, how can my system get what it needs? I was confused about that.
Avatar n tn Water, sugar (sucrose), corn syrup, maltodextrin (corn), calcium caseinate, high-oleic safflower oil, canola oil, soy protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, corn oil, calcium phosphate tribasic, potassium citrate, magnesium phosphate dibasic, natural and artificial flavor, soy lecithin, sodium citrate, magnesium chloride, salt (sodium chloride), carrageenan, choline chloride, potassium chloride, ascorbic acid, ferrous sulfate, alpha-tocopheryl acetate, zinc sulfate, niacinamide, calcium pant
Avatar m tn It also seems to make clear that the type of potassium salt you are taking (chloride, citrate, gluconate, acetate, bicarbonate, etc) does not matter. The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine.
Avatar m tn On the potassium, should I get citrate, bicarbonate, or chloride? And do you know what the 100% RDA is? I'm not sure if it's 20meq or more. Trying to finish up ordering a few more things and I'll be set to go! I've read a lot of people have used the GABA, did you like that? I have it on my list.
Avatar f tn Scary episode of hypomagnesia hypocalcemia and low potassium after thyroidectomy...drs keep saying magnesium and potassium low had nothing to do with thyroidectomy but how is this possible...niw that I got all three levels are back up but wondering every day if they may go back down is pure torture...ever heard of this???
1618806 tn?1304734477 d say just stay away from potassium supplements or salt substitutes like Mrs. Dash and you will probably be ok. If you start having muscle cramps though, it could be a sign that your potassium is too high. If that happens, go to the doctor and they will do bloodwork to test your levels. Hope that helps!
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar n tn Potassium and Calcium and important electrolytes in muscles. Potassium is one of those electrolytes you dont really want to be messed up in your body. High potassium levels can cause heart dysrrhythmias, since your heart is a big muscle, Other signs of hyperkalemia(increased potassium) are nausea vomitting, restlessness, irritability, I am looking in my book right now to make sure i can give you the most accurate information. Chloride there is not much on.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.

Avatar f tn In physiology, the primary ions of electrolytes are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), chloride (Cl−), hydrogen phosphate (HPO42−), and hydrogen carbonate (HCO3−). The electric charge symbols of plus (+) and minus (−) indicate that the substance in question is ionic in nature and has an imbalanced distribution of electrons, the result of chemical dissociation".
Avatar f tn I can eat greasy foods and not get deathly sick! I take a pinch of potassium chloride daily or few times a week. I ordered potassium chloride, (FYI: different kinds of potassium) on Amazon. It is a powder formula, love it because I can’t swallow pills. (FYI: different kinds of potassium when you look to order) I ordered an 8oz bag in January 2020 for around $12.00 & has last me all year. I hope this may help someone!

456906 tn?1208569831 Too much potassium can be bad for anybody...they actually use potassium chloride in HIGH concentration for lethal injection. They use the same thing in IV's in low doses to keep people hydrated in the hospital. Too much of anything can be bad. I think it would be VERY difficult to bring yourself to the point where you had too much potassium.
Avatar m tn I can't find the source of my information but I remember reading that metoprolol is potassium sparing drug - meaning it doesn't cause potassium levels to drop. I don't believe that consuming fruit with a high K diet alone would raise K values to the point of side effects. At the moment I am more interested in the magnesium deficiency/arrhythmia information that I have read about. There seems to be something to that side of the electrolyte balance.
Avatar n tn Foods especially rich in potassium (containing more than 300 milligrams of potassium per serving) are acorn or butternut squash, potatoes (with skin), spinach, bananas, orange juice, avocados, lima beans, cantaloupes, peaches, tomatoes, flounder, salmon, and cod. Some salt substitutes also contain high amounts of potassium. [An extensive listing of potassium levels in foods is available from the USDA as a PDF document at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/SR17/wtrank/sr17a306.pdf.
Avatar n tn Sounds like your potassium level may be low. Low potassium can cause muscle aches and is just as important to your heart health as magnesium or more so. Ask your doctor to test all of your electrolytes, and see if they are in balance. It is hard to get enough potassium in your diet unless you really make an effort to do so. The minimum daily requirement is 3500-4700 mg.
