I have been taking vicodin, lortab, and percocet (not all at once) throughout my pregnancy with the supervision of my Dr. for a very painful neurological disorder. My Dr's have told me that their only concern is that if we cannot get me off these pills (by weaning) by the time that the baby is born that the baby could face withdrawls.
How long have you been seeing this PM?
My thought is to be completely honest with them and bring in your bottle of meds which will show the one extra pill.
There are only two types of UA tests done..One is the quick pee and evaluate in the Dr's office that just shows the presence of opiates and no other substances...So it won't show the difference between Lortab or Percocet in that type.
Vicodin, Hydrocodone, Lortab and percocet are some of the painkillers that are sometimes prescribed during pregnancy. However its best to avoid ANY medication in the first trimester when the baby is still developing. If you find out you are pregnant it would be best to stop taking the painkillers alltogether. At this point it's probably best to continue to use protection until you are free of the pain meds and your doctor has given you the official go ahead.
If u take then as prescribed and your dr. knows I wouldn't worry I am taking lortab for my migraines and it is ok. I also worry about my baby being dependant and think I am going to try to stop a few months before delivery just to make sure but I wouldn't suffer in the meantime. Your dr may adjust your meds.
You want to get off one opiate by taking another one?? Doesnt sound like a real good plan. There are other ways to ease the wd's without taking another opiate.
The difference between Norco and Lortab is the amount of acetiminephen. The Norco only has .325 where as the Lortab has 500 of it. They BOTH have Hydrocodone NEITHER one has ANY codeine!!! It just depends on which one your Doctor orders for you. The Norco has sht MOST Hydrocodone - 10. Whereas the Lortab that you mentioned has 7.5 - Hydrocodone.
Just remember the this is HYDROCODONE and NOT Codeine. :) The reason I know this is because I've been on both of these exact meds.
Norco is the same active ingredient as Vicodin and Lortab (hydrocodone), but the Tylenol (acetaminophen) content is lower at 325mg than the 500mg in Lortab and Vicodin.
Just a quick correction...Percocet is oxycodone with Acetaminophen, and Percodan is Oxycodone with Aspirin, not Tylenol. There are other, less common combinations, like Vicoprofen, which would be Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (Acetaminophen).
Vicodin, Norco, Lortab are all Hydrocodone.
Dilaudid comes both in oral and injectable forms, with doses starting at usually 1 mg.
Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.
As for my question, before yesterday I had been taking lortab and percocet for pain, yesterday I was prescribed an extended release morphine and lortab for breakthrough pain. I took the first tablet this morning and I like I am slow, mentally. Is this normal and will it last while I am on this medication? It is not to the point to where I cannot perform my job or drive, etc., but I feel like I just woke up.
I stopped taking my Subs about 18 days ago. Was down to 1mg am and 1mg pm. Was having a lot of severe back pain, so last week I went to my Doc and he gave me 100 Perc 10's and said to take 1 every 6 hrs for 50 of them, then start taking 1/2 a pill for the rest and I should be fine. Now I know all about the addiction and believe me, I'm not going there again. Plus I almost had to do 60 yrs in prison so that was enough to scare the crap out of me.
He will then prescribe me my Suboxone and my Lortab and Percocet for some many worth so I can use them to start weining myself off of then a little at a time, while also taking the Suboxone once daily...That will kinda stop the withdrawal from the time between doses of the pain pills, which will alllow me to take less of them...
It started with lortab 5mg a few times a day... Then after a few surgeries later I was prescribed to lortab 7.5 and Percocet 7.5 for the pain. I am about 8 weeks out of surgery, and the dr. Is still prescribing me these meds. Tomorrow will be day 2 without anything. I have asked my boyfriend to hide them from me, because I know that I was getting out of control, and could not believe how many prescriptions these dr. Keep giving me.
I am going to quit taking my medication tomorrow, I have been taking lortab and percocet for 2 years now.The first year I was taking lortab until it didnt work anymore,and I was taking 8-9 a day,then I told the dr. that I needed something stronger,so he gave me percocet 10/325.I was fine only taking about 3-4 a day,but it has progressed to about 6-7a day for almost a year now.
Are you ONLY using percocet, or are they using other medications in conjunction with the percocet? I know that my mom is on a whole plethora of drugs to compliment. She takes lortab for the pain, baclofen for the spasms, tizanidine to help her muscles relax, xanax for when the tizanidine doesn't help, and effexor XR (both for depression and the neurological pain relief benefits). There may be one other I'm not remembering as well.
to get at-least lortab or vicoden but he says now that i moved he cant take care of me anymore and no one seems to care. If i live or Die here { seems they want me to Die.} they act like im a druggy and nothing more as if im doing heroin in the street. My husband takes care of me i take care of the home he's a pilot in germany i stayed here he comes to visit me and i go there. But i feel and know that i wont be able to even look nice for him when he comes home.
Percocet is a stronger drug and actually classified as a "C-II" under the DEA. Lortab or Hydrocodone is a "C-III". So, chemically it is stronger. My first bout with narcotics I was addicted to percocet. (after the lortab wouldn't work anymore and i'd had shoulder surgery). Total use was about a year and It was difficult w/d. I went ct when I got off of the percs. My last relapse was on lortab.
