ABSTRACT BODY: BACKGROUND: HBsAg mediated suppression of the immune system and permits the chronicity of HBV infection. NAPs inhibit HBsAg release from infected hepatocytes. The first generation NAP, REP 9AC, rapidly cleared serum HBsAg in infected patients and allowed recovery of durable immunological control over HBV infection.
