Avatar m tn Table 3, Table 4, Table 5, and Table 6 provide guidelines for dose modifications and discontinuation of PEGASYS/COPEGUS based on laboratory abnormalities, patient’s depression status, and cardiac status. Adult Patients When dose modification of PEGASYS is required for adverse reactions (clinical and/or laboratory), initial dose reduction to 135 mcg (which is 0.75 mL for the vials or adjustment to the corresponding graduation mark for the prefilled syringes) is recommended.
2030686 tn?1351688548 ve gotten pretty good at recognizing the difference between normal blues and serious depression. The depression I experienced on Interferon was very bad. It got so bad that I ended up taking Paxil, as well as seeing a therapist who classified my depression as "clinical". Clinical depression "is a mental disorder characterized by episodes of all-encompassing low mood accompanied by low self-esteem and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities...
Avatar f tn s the more serious side effects, extreme anemia, fatigue, depression, neutropenia and cytopenia that cause people to discontinue tx. They may not be able to work while having those types of medical issues. I'm happy cb867 that you are are feeling so well on it. http://www.liverfoundation.org/education/info/hepatitisc/ "These drugs have some potentially serious side effects. Most people being treated with interferon have flu-like symptoms early on.
3867523 tn?1348949685 being "irritable " and being diagnosed with "clinical depression (,either from a possible side effect of the treatment drugs) or not are two completely different issues. Not everyone has issues with depression when on HCV treatment. Actually the majority, especially someone that doesn't seem to have problems with clinical depression in the past.
895634 tn?1283989210 Needed to stop very early before EVR determination because I could not tolerate pulmonary side effects and depression related to Interferon. Am pretreating with Lexapro to mitigate depression, but worried about the uncontrollable coughing (to the point of throwing up) and other assorted sides. Does Infergen have a better side effect profile? Is it as efficacious as Pegasys? Your input is greatly appreciated.
2011699 tn?1328933353 told I was in aperiod where I would benefit treatment RIGHT AWAY,verses waiting~UNTIL I brought up the fact I was concerned about my depression issues and how severe my depression was off meds~Than the Dr. did a complete 180 and told me I should wait 3 months!!? Than do a biopsy and see where I a at....~" There are some things you need to get straightened out before even discussing stategies for dealing with interferon induced depression.
Avatar f tn i have read patient reviews regarding pegasys and some have very scary experiences like sometimes temporary blindness, others feel a great depression and attempts suicide, some cant even walk. i am scared and worried about this sideeffects. i would not want to be hbv-free but with new complications in later life.
678069 tn?1254422777 I am about to start treatment with Pegasys and Copegus, and I was wondering one thing....Does anyone know what percentage of people on this treatment experience hair loss? Ive read a lot and hair loss seems to be a pretty common side effect. But just how common is what Im wondering. I believe I can handle the other stuff (Flu-like symptoms, depression, etc). Its the hair loss thing that really has me worried. Oddly enough, I have shaved my head since I was 12.
Avatar m tn 2 Neuropsychiatric Life-threatening or fatal neuropsychiatric reactions may manifest in all patients receiving therapy with PEGASYS and include suicide, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, depression, relapse of drug addiction, and drug overdose. These reactions may occur in patients with and without previous psychiatric illness. PEGASYS should be used with extreme caution in all patients who report a history of depression.
1576889 tn?1299727476 Subsequent injections aren’t usually quite so dramatic, although over time you’ll probably become fatigued and anxiety/depression can also be an issue. I see you’re cirrhotic; did the doctor discuss over the counter pain meds with you? If it’s okay with the doctor, you might take a couple of Tylenol (acetaminophen) before the interferon injection to help with pain and fever.
476246 tn?1418870914 49% of patients using Pegintron achieved SVR, compared to only 36% of patients using Pegasys. Differences between the 2 drugs for genos 2 and 3 weren't very remarkable. (Note SVR = Sustained Viral Response = absence of detectable HCV RNA 6 months after end of tx).
Avatar f tn Take an antiviral for the rest of my life or I can give Pegasys a try. 8% success rate for eAg-neg. He said for an otherwise healthy young patient like me, the side effects might not be bad. I can stop anytime I want without consequences. It will likely fail. At that time, we can take up on antivirals. I don't know if 8% is worth a year of trouble. My main concern is the CNS effects of interferon. I have 2 very young children (a kindergartener and a 10-month-old) to take care of.
317787 tn?1473358451 The only comment I would have is that my husband has taken Peg-intron, Infergen and Pegasys and Peg-intron had more harsh SX than the other two, at least for him. His depression and personality changes were much more pronounced with Peg-intron. It made for a really bad time for our whole family. Nothing with these drugs seems to hold true for everyone, but that was our experience.
Avatar m tn we have experienc from a guy on interferon+alinia 1g a day and his response was a bomb when he added alinia to interferon, before alinia interferon was a failure and about to stop too bad the doctor thought it was interferon to make the huge hbvdna drop in weeks from 8-9logs and hbeag drop to close sercovertion and put the guy on the highest interferon dose, this made severe depression sides and guy stopped all meds...
Avatar m tn i go in fot the Education class on the 11th of next month and start the treatment on the 19th. im already taking the Lexapro drug for Depression. Needless to say im a bit nevious about all this but the alternitive looks worse.
Avatar f tn My sister has gone through the treatment (53 weeks) of Pegasys and co-pegasys. She has been non-detectable since the 12 week viral load test. She has stopped the treatment on November 29, 2008 because of low blood work and that she had been taking epogen (60,000 units) per week. Now that she has stopped the pegasys and the co-pegasys she is experiencing severe muscle spasms in her back and left side. She had been anemic for nearly 6 months. Her muscles are now starting to swell in her hands.
Avatar f tn Another thing is if you are prone to depression to make sure you have someone that will keep you in check and knows the symptoms of depression. They can get confused with fatigue but it's something you want to be aware of. I love that they have the pro-click Pegasys now....pain and stress free shot. Not like the Procrit...ouch that medicine is thick as syrup and hurts going in! Thanks for allowing me to join up!
Avatar f tn How long is this medication safe under NO refrigeration. We went through "Ike" down here and really getting conflicting stories as to how long it is good, as it was in and out of coolers and the Fema never brought any ice so it was NOT REFRIGERATED.
Avatar f tn For me it has been a wild and crazy roller coaster ride, at times i feel that i should of left well enough alone, but i had severe pain on my right side under ribs, and i had extreme fatigue (no matter how much sleep i got) and i thought i had some sort of arthritus and could hardly make it up my stairs actually had all kinds of joint and bone pains, rhematologist is how i found out i had hcv.
Avatar f tn Has anybody out there been treated with COPEGUS and PEGASYS? I saw a gastroentoligist today and he has ordered all sorts of blood work, but says if I start treatment this is what he would give me. I asked about the new VERTEX drug coming out next year and he said it probably wouldent be out that soon.
Avatar m tn The nurse gave me the Pegasys injection intramuscular in my arm instead of subcutaneous? Will that have any effect on the course of treatment? Does it have the same efficacy?will I still benefit from the injection in the same intended way?
