Pantoprazole sod side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Pantoprazole sod side effects

protonix

Avatar f tn I called the Drs office today and he said these symptoms could not be from the med. I did research possible side effects a couple of days ago and these can indeed be side effects. Now, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping he would recommend another med to try because on top of the stomach pain I'm having the bladder pain, tiredness and weakness. I guess my question is this. Has anyone had these side effects and if so did they go away?
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar f tn i am 38 years old now , i developed gerd in my twenties i have been on ppi for like 10 years and they completely controlled my symptoms all this period i was on pantoprazole 40 mg daily and every time i try to dc for a month or two the gerd settles in and heart burn starts in episodes about 2-4 times daily so i eventually returned to ppi , every while i try to lower the dose to 20 mg for a period till i get the feeling of a slight discomfort so i return to the 40 mg dose again i tried h2
Avatar f tn but he prescribed a medication named pantoprazole sod 40 mg. Girl every since I started it I have had no heartburn at all, not even that gassy bloated feeling I also had...so talk to your Dr about the medication and see what he says. Best wishes.
1210142 tn?1266077031 No assimilation of Calcium, Vitamin Bs, Magnesium (which can affect your heart), increased broken hips... In summary, I would not worry for the interaction with Plavix, since probably you no longer need it, I would be very worry for taking them without a clear diagnostic or reason. If you have got a gastroscopy and they did not see the reason of your pain, chances are that you will get nothing from PPIs. If you have not got the gastroscopy, I would get it before going on PPIs for life.
17338875 tn?1455776702 The brain zaps started a few days ago and they've become more and more frequent. I had quite a few of them today. They make me feel dizzy at times. This list may help explain question one and it'll pretty much explain question two. I must add that I have diabetes type 1. I'll list all my medications. Yes, both my doctor and psychologist know what I'm on, I've been on my meds from the doc longer. I feel a lot of side effects from the medications I'm on too.
Avatar n tn A. Lot of complaints on various forums with same complaint of back, neck and pain in lower extremities. A large study out of Sweden expressed concern that suddenly stopping these type of med can cause acid rebound in some . This is exactly what brought my flare up. I was taking omepazole occasionally for a few days but noticed on those days my asthma improved because I was producing less mucus. When I mentioned thus to my Dr. He suggested I take omepazole daily which I did for 2 months.
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with SOD a week or so ago. I have been scheduled to have a procedure and a stint placed in the oddi I believe. This diagnosis was made after a year and a half of suffering through horrible attacks of pain, nausea and uncontrollable vomiting. My gallbladder was removed last spring, an exploratory surgery done in October 2007 and another one in March 2008. I am in constant pain, and have had to take pain medications just to get through the days at work.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. The meds u r asking about also known as protonix used for acid reflux and GERD.....will have side effects on some individuals. To know or understand what long term use could cause symptoms wise, ask ur pharmacist or dr. Since we all respond to meds differently it is very diff to say what long term use might do to u.....
Avatar m tn I was on the Hep C therapy, for a little over three months. The side effects were so bad (me personaly) that the doctor took me off them, I did come down to non detectable virus load. I have been off the MEDS, in 2 days, I will be off them for 4 weeks. I was told that it was 4 weeks to be off them and two weeks to get back to were I was before the MEDS. The effects are getting a little better, but they are still strong.
Avatar f tn Feels like under right rib cage fills up then feels like really full then there is pain around the side rib cage and back, that pain feels like a burning pain. it only goes away lying down when i sit or stand it hurts really bad been on couch for six weeks had 2 days out of a month that were ok that i could get up and walk around and sit at dinner table could this be SOD? or any other ideas?
Avatar f tn I got severe muscle cramps as side effects from that and went back to the urgent care and they gave me zantac instead. Still the same dosis of 2 /day. It all started end of June 2015. The dr eho prescribed zantac also mentioned it could come from the gallbladder but there would be no test to confirm that now (super weird reading all about it now). In September 2015 I had an egd done and the dr confirmed the gastritis. I had no ulcers and no bacterial infection.
Avatar n tn Since that attack I have been plagued with continuous upper abdomal discomfort, gurgling, wind and pain on both right and left side immediately under the breast. I even have shap chest pain. I wonder if I suffer from SOD and if so does anyone else have these symptoms. They often resemble symptoms of hiatus hernia, indigestion and heartburn.
Avatar n tn I am still waiting for biopsy results. My doc asked me to try Zantac, Prilosec, Pantoprazole Sod but nothing gave me even the slightest relief. I also tried baking soda, apple cider vinegar, TUMS but they didn't help either. I don't know what to do. I don't know why my doc thinks it is acid reflux. Other than chest tightness and pressure in the head I do not have other typical symptoms of acid reflux.
Avatar n tn I am being weaned from pantoprazole with ranitidine. It seems that now that we have reached the pantoprazole every third day stage, I am getting weekly bouts of diarrhea, especially if I drink more than one cup of coffee. Is this a side effect? The diarrhea wakes me at night.
Avatar f tn Are you working with a doc who is very familiar with SOD? The only way to definitvely to diagnose SOD is via an ERCP with manometry.
Avatar n tn I don't know anything about about the side effects of having a duct enlarged, but your attacks sure sound very similiar to mine. Below is post I entered last week looking for help....it sounds like you may also have SOD. I have been having what I call "attacks" for the last year and a half. The best way for me to explain it is that it feels exactly like when I had gallstones. However, my gall bladder was removed in August 2003.
Avatar n tn It has Lidocaine in it. Also, I am on Elavil, which has its own side effects of weight gain, which I am keeping under control just trying to watch what I eat. Anyway, the pain with the SOD is absolutely the worst pain I have ever experienced in my lifetime, it is right up there with severe labor pains, probably worse than that. I had one last night and the pain was so bad that I broke out in a cold sweat and almost fainted. God only knows what people with this go through.
Avatar f tn Can severe stress be a trigger for SOD episodes? My husband recently had a heart attack and while attending to him I had to be hospitalized for a severe attack of Sphyncter of Oddi spasms. Had a stent inserted about 10 years ago for this problem and had not had any further attacks until the last one. I know from experience that alcohol, certain oral pain medications (vicodin) will trigger these spasms but had never had one triggered by sudden stress.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I was in your shoes. My doctor prescribed me Zantac and it works wonders! I take it in the morning and just a bit before bed. I had the same issues as you... EVERYTHING gave me heartburn and then acid reflux decided to add to it. Milk didn't work for me, Tums stopped working, and sitting up didn't do squat. It seriously was unbearable. Ask your Dr. If they can get you it instead... I haven't had any side effects.
Avatar f tn m confused -- lots of people on these meds still have acid reflux, and common side effects of antidepressants are digestive problems and headaches, so it isn't what I'd choose to fight them. Panic attacks are a different story, and those take time for the medication to work, but again, if that's not what you're having the problem with and the medication is affecting you so adversely, perhaps you should explore alternatives.
Avatar n tn I have been doing a lot of research on SOD, because it most closely matches my symptoms. In 2004 I had my gallbladder removed and within a year started having the same symptoms (my liver felt like it was stuck to my ribs). Pain in my upper right abdominal. Seems to come and go.
Avatar n tn However, I discussed this with my doc and she said due to the fact that the HIDA scan revealed an issue with the gall bladder it is not SOD as SOD is diagnosed when all tests come back normal and my HIDA scan did not. I have had many docs tell me many and very different diagnosis so any ideas, suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
Avatar f tn To: candieflossie Are you still pain free after taking the calcium channel blockers? Do you experience any bad side effects from it? I hope you're doing well. I'm so worrried, and scared to have an ercp since it seems most people get pancreatitis and then only get temporary if not, no relief from sphincterotmies, stents, balloons etc. What kind of diet do you follow?
Avatar f tn I need info. Had endoscopy (esophageal stricture) 2/05, GB removed 9/07 and still have the same pain as before either. Does not seem to be affected by food. Never have naseau, vomiting, or diarrhea. The pain starts urq abdomen and center and goes up into my jaw on right side (feels like teeth are hurting). Have this pain an average of 5 times per month. On scale of 1 to 10 its a 12! Lasts for several hours. I have to keep walking when its hurting. Take Levbid, Prilosec.
