pacemaker

Avatar f tn Kathy Hansen went online to research treatments and found the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where doctors could insert a pacemaker into her stomach. The pacemaker acts similarly to a heart pacemaker, sending signals that cause the stomach muscles to contract at the right times so that Gentrie could eat. Avatar n tn t recall anyone who said they had problems other that a sore spot on the chest, but almost all people with pacemaker insertions report greater energy and a better quality of life. I also have a pacemaker, and am feeling great. I would proceed with great confidence and pass that on to your Grandmother. She will sail through this and feel much better, and she will undoubtedly get through the procedure better with your support.
Avatar n tn It is necessary to consult a cardiologist immediately for a temporary pace maker, to support the heart rate while he changes the pacemaker. Hope this helps. Best.

Avatar f tn j have a pacemaker which i want removed how do i go about this since i have had the pacemaker i have has depression very badlt regards cgristina
Avatar f tn I have had numerous surgeries including the Fontan in 1987 with a revision of the Fontan in 2006, where at that time I also had a Medtronic Enrhythym Pacemaker install. 3 weeks ago I had a Pacemaker replacement due to the fact my battery on my Pacemaker was running low. The new Pacemaker installed is a Medtronic Adapta. Since the new pacemaker my Heart beat has been all over the place. My 1st Enrhythym was paced at 80 bpm, and it pretty much stayed like that for 5.
3110611 tn?1368485035 I had a pacemaker put in on June 27th. I had a weigkieback 2 rythum. My heart beat between 30 at night to 45 BPM. Directly after the operastion I noticed that I felt stronger and could breath easier. For the last week I've been tired. Today I am very tired. My blood pressure today was 120/77 and my pulse was 83. Is there any reason I should feel tired from the operation?
Avatar f tn I had heart problems all last year, but my sister was dying from cancer and that came first. Then me. I had a pacemaker put in March 9,2016. I have been getting more and more depressed. Can hardly get myself to leave the house anymore. I have made an appt. with my GP for July 12th. I know I am depressed but what really is causing it my sister or the pacemaker or maybe both. I am tearful just writing this. What can I do for myself to get back to being me active, busy woman?
Avatar f tn I'd ask him why not just put in the pacemaker and skip the rest. I just put a question on the forum myself about something similar. I have no problem with getting a pacemaker. I really can't see messing with ablation which may or may not work when I know a pacemaker will work and stop messing around with tests. Maybe pacemakers are as good as I think they are, but my mother lived a very long life because of one. She sure felt better too.
Avatar n tn Doctors tell us heart arrythmia may be cause - EKG confirms that her heart slows/stops. Pacemaker is recommended. Our issue is that she is very frail and weakened - unable to support herself or walk even with walker. She states "I am ready to go." Will pacemaker help her do better in rehab and maybe go back to her ACLF (independent apartment) or at least assisted living? Is she likley to regain function lost due to recent fall?
Avatar m tn I will guess that she needs more attention by the pacemaker support organization to be sure it is operating at the needed points. This may correct the problems you describe.
Avatar f tn I am 25 years old. I have a a pacemaker for 24 years. My current pacemaker is located on my left side just below my rib cage. I want children. I am afraid that the placement of it will become an issue if I am pregnant. I am on day 37 of my cycle, it usually is an average of 30 days long. Although this past 2 years have been very unusal for my cycle. In the begining of last year I used to get period and then bleed again 2 weeks after I got it. This happened until Sept.
Avatar n tn Doctors decided to wait until she showed definite signs of necessity for the pacemaker. She was diagnosed almost three years ago and still has not had a pacemaker put it because she is dealing with the heartblock okay at this time. I can tell you that she appears as normal as the next child and plays very hard. She runs circles around her older brother and is a lively, extremely active little girl. My friend found a support group online for pediatric heartblock....
Avatar f tn I think it would be a great way to meet other parents that are in similar situations. I am hoping that we can support each other. Some children do not fit into normal play groups. Am I crazy to think this would work?
Avatar m tn I have had a pacemaker for the last twelve years and have been told I don't really need it any longer. I would like to have it removed but would rather not go through the complicated procedure of having the wires removed. Is there any reason I can not just have the device removed? I have been told that if I got an infection in the pocket where the device is in having the wires in could cause the infection to spread. Also with the wires still in could I do an MRI is needed? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Dementia has increased over last 4 years, advance directive states no life support. Does one replace the difibrillator pacemaker in a atrial fib patient who no longer wants to be "hit" but die in peace. How long does the battery last when it is on replacemet mode?
Avatar n tn I had a pacemaker put in 1979 after my daughter was born in 2004 they took it out now it is 2008 a ekg showed I have abnormal t waves could it be because I do not have a pacemaker anymore
272338 tn?1252280404 This is a womens magazine with a large section devoted to womens health. So I sat down and sent an e-mail to the editor explaining that I would not be renewing my subscription and why. Though small, it is still a step. I ask that all of you that recieve womens magazines take a close look at the Sept issue and if there is no mention of ovarian cancer, take that one small step. Send an e-mail to the editor and ask that your subscription be cancelled and explain why.
Avatar f tn I recently had a pacemaker implanted and I'm concerned whether it is safe or not to continue using our Ionic Pro ionic air purifier in the same room?
Avatar f tn Anyway, when he was a new author his agent got him an interview with an editor where King was presenting his manuscript. The editor liked it a lot and was attempting to charm Steve with a lot of freindly chit-chat. Poor Steve was terrified, and got that dry mouth can't talk response. All he could do, finally, was get up and squeak, "Me go now," to the editor and high tail it outta there.
Avatar f tn Ran into an article in the Journal for the American Academy of Family Practitioners published this month, telling doctors that Levothyroxine is the ONLY valid treatment for hypo and to trust the TSH. I called the Academy and was transferred to the editor of the Journal and advised him of the more current articles (that I published here) conducted and published in Europe and now published by the NIH.

317787 tn?1473358451 Not real good behavior coming from chief medical editor, she should know better.
Avatar n tn When it was decided to remove life support, breathing tube and heart medicine, the doctors said that the pacemaker would not have any affect. She passed after 5 minutes of removing the breathing tube and blood pressure medicine without the pacemaker being turned off. To have CHF for 20 years is remarkable. I thought 12 years was the maximum survival rate after being diagnosed with CHF.
Avatar n tn If she is indeed pacemaker dependent, and she has had a pacemaker for this long then most likely once the battery is fully depleted then she will no longer have a stable ventricular escape rhythm. She may pass away from asystole in a few minutes, hours or days, one is unable to predict exactly when it will occur. If she is lucid and competent then she should be able to make the decision not to undergo the device change-out procedure.
