Do Oxy and Codeine show up the same in a drug test? I have one in a few days and I have a prescription for Tylenol 3 & 4 but I have been taking oxycontin. Thank you for your help!

hey maybe you can tell me what would be good to take for pain I had ADR surgery 4 years ago, since then they have been switching my meds around and I want to stop taking anything with Tylenol in it. They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety. What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough.

I am wondering if there is something besides Tylenol 3 that I can ask for to be prescribed as I have some liver issues and everytime I get a migraine or other aches and pains that are too much for over the counter, I get prescribed T3's, but I am concerned they are making my liver worse. I have fatty liver disease, and I don't drink, and I don't really eat fatty foods (the two most common causes of FLD). I just need something as strong as T3's, but not as hard on liver?

If you want to use the Tylenol 3 to get off the oxycontin so that it is easier to quit the tylenol 3 rather than oxy, then yes that is a better plan and you would also be in less severe withdrawl by doing this.. But you do not want to try and replace that feeling you were getting from the oxy with tylenol 3 because no matter how much you take it will never make you feel as strong as the oxy either..

Have you been addicted to Tylenol 3 with Codeine? Can you please help me out with my addiction such as sharing your tips, stories and so on.I just joined this site and don't know where to begin.I get T3's prescribed 3 per day, 20 every 7 days (wed-wed) but I also get them on the side from someone I lie to.I want to stop, I dont even know how long its been.It just grew out of control and i had enough but cant beat the withdrawl and i am scared cuz I also dont want help from Doctors.

Norco is better than most because it only has 325 of Tylenol Vs. 500 or 650. To my knowledge hydrocodone which is the narcotic agent in Norco (I take it too) does not come in a tablet all on it's own. In order to get rid of the Tylenol you have to move up to the drug oxycodone which is in drugs like Percocet they make oxycodone tabs without Tylenol. Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised?

The oxycontin is the same as percocet but without the Tylenol and will give you longer lasting relief... I would just make sure you take it exactly as directed and you may find it works better for you... its different for everyone...

It is not extended release like the Oxycontin and I like it much better and do not have to worry about toxic Tylenol in the liver. I would ask at your next appointment, they make the immediate release oxycodone in 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, & 30mg. The Oxycontin is very expensive and most insurance companies require prior authorization and just won't pay for it... b/c there is not a generic for it. The oxycodone immediate release tablets are fairly inexpensive compared to the Oxycontin.

I have had 5 spine surgeries. 2x failed micro diskectomy, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1 PLIF, 1x removal of hardwear, L1-L2, L2-L3 fusion. So either way my back hurts constantly, as it should after all that. I have struggled with alcohol abuse, and medication abuse. I have about 6mth's free from drinking, not a problem, i just feel better. Now I am currently taking pain med's, Oxycontin 60mg 1am -1pm, and Oxycontin 40mg 2 @ lunch. I can say it has helped the most with the pain.

Codeine (in the Tylenol 3) could be the culprit. It metabolizes in a complex way into morphine and many other substances. You might ask your PM about that? Could you stop the Tylenol 3 for a month and see if this affects your urinalysis?

I think one is just time released (oxycontin) while the other is regular but you know it is really easy to find this info on the internet -- just google it.

Hello all, I haven't posted for a long time. I was wondering the difference (strenghtwise) between oxy & hydromorphcontin ( long acting). I was on hydromorph last year and switched to oxycontin & oxy IR this spring in an attempt to keep overall dosages down. The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people?

My dr says the only over the counter headache/pain med that is safe is tylenol for the time you are confirmed to be pregnant until delevery.

OxyContin is a time relealse and is usually taken twice a day. Usuallymanother med is given for breakthrough pain. All of these drugs will case physical dependence and in some people can lead to addiction.

5 mg and 10mg. Percocet is oxycodone and tylenol. Oxycontin is oxycodone in a time released pill. They used to make a capsule of 15mg of fast release oxycodone that people called percocet 15's but that was a misnomer. I'm not sure that they still make them here in the US.

Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. I believe it is acetominophine (tylenol) that does damage to the liver only if you drink more than 3 drinks a day. Ask your doc for pain meds that contain nothing but the opiate itself. My ex has bulging discs and he takes alot of oxi's and percocets. He is still in alot of pain daily.

When I tell the doctor, he usually gies me new drugs or suggests a clinic (I am opposed to this because of two other sleep medications that they wanted to help me withbut I did it myself). I am not judging you, I am only 7 days clean off a much harder drug, oxycontin, but what I am trying to say is that years ago tylenol 3 was enough to get me high...... Today I would have to take so many I would just get sick.

t work a full 4-6 hours. If it worked for 3 hours, I would only be in pain for another 3 hours before I can take it again. Anyone who suffers this kind of pain knows how lone 6 hours to wait is compared to 3. I don't know what to do. Somedays are ok, with not so much break through pain, other days are complete hell. But then even on good days I still feel like ****. So you see, I maybe not giving advice, because I am SOL too.
