Ortho tri cyclen migraines

Common Questions and Answers about Ortho tri cyclen migraines

ortho-tri-cyclen

I`ve tried Ortho tri-cyclen and it ran my blood pressure up. I also tried Depo provera shot, and it made me feel crazy! I was just wondering if anyone else on here has taken Ortho Micronor, and if so, did you have any side effects? Did you like it? Thanks......
Anna, My GYN swears by Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I'm 22 and nearly all of my close friends (that it is discussed with) take it. I was taking Ortho-Cept and it made me break out more than before i was taking it. I took it for almost 5 years. I have been taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for almost 2 years now and havent broken out more than 3 times! As far as the progestin goes...Ortho-Tri-Cyclen is on of the higher ones, so my GYN says. He prescribed me on that because of it(progestin) helping my migraines.
Yes, I have tried Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Diane35, Estrostep, Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, Yasmin and they did not improve my acne, I actually had cystic acne, mood swings and migraines when I was on those. Yaz was the best one that I found with the least side effects, its just the migraines were unbearable. As for the Accutane, yes I took the recommended dosage. I took Accutane once when I was 19 and once when I was 24.
i am on birth control ortho tri cyclen. because my period is irregular. and i want to know what caused that. i am a virgin i havent had no sex at all. my appetite hasn't changed i breath correctly i only get but cramps when its come time to my period. no abdomen pain at all. my weight is fine i can put on weight and i can lose it if i wanted too. no buring when i pee either. is it because my period about to come on?
o) ). As far as the BC Pills- Ortho Tri-Cyclen has been clinically proven to help with acne but it isn't the best choice for someone with PCOS. Most doctors prescribe Yasmin or a pill with a similar make up. That said- Ortho Tri Cyclen probably will not make your headaches worse and it isn't known to have any common serious side effects so you should be ok in taking it.
Apparently I had been on my old birth control (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) for too long (2 1/2 years), and my doctor ended up switching me to Lo Ovral. Im REALLY hoping that this is gonna fix all the problems that I've been experiencing for most of this year (i.e. spotting, migraines, dramatic decrease in sex drive, mood swings, moodiness, etc.) What are everyone's experiences with this bc? I've never even heard of it before....
I have had to periods but asked my OB/GYN to take me off the Yaz because it also caused breast pain and I developed migraines associated with my period. Prior to then, I had been taken off Ortho-Tri Cyclen Lo due to severe breast pain for about a year. My periods had been regular until 9/07. I had a pelvic u/s which revealed nabothian cysts. Do these cysts have anything to due with amenorrhea? I am currently at 217 pounds and have lost close to 18 pounds.
I used to take Ortho Tri-cyclen after my baby was born in Aug. of `02. It raised my BP like crazy! I also tried a low dosage birth control for a while, not taking BP medicine with it, and my BP was still high. So I wanted to try the BP medicine and birth control together and see what happened. Did your BP stay low while taking birth control medicine and BP medicine at the same time? Thanks...
I still get cysts I haven't been on BC pills and they usually go away with my . Anyway one of them just ruptured and I currently have one that is 5cm. My doctor wants me to stay on BC pills for now. I really prefer not to be on them. Has anyone lived with cysts and got pregnant easily and not been on the pill?
I have been taking Ortho Tri Cyclen since about late Sept. `02, but my nerve problems began before then. What could have caused all of these problems? I was fine before the pregnancy. Thanks.
I started on Ortho Tri Cyclen and had no problem with it but then switched doctors who put me on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo it worked until my face started breaking out in my senior year of high school so I was then put on Yasmin and that was the worst year of my life... I was depressed, suicidal, and going crazy! I went off the pill for about a year... Then I was put on Yaz and started getting the most horrible Migraines, they were almost unbearable and I would spend days in bed.
i had mine taken out and put on ortho tri cyclen and now the mini pill b/c i seem to have a low tolerance for estrogen. my hair was falling out, moody and miserable, gained 45 lbs, horrible acne break outs and migraines with an aura. which...seems to be side affects of the estrogen. go to the er or make an appointment to have it removed. for the pill (i'm HORRIBLE at remembering) set a timer. when it goes off that's when you know to take it.
Nope, not that I have read. I think the difference is actually in the estrogen. From what I have been reading (you ladies inspire me to research a lot of stuff) all the birth control methods with estrogen have elevated blood pressure as as side effect. But i have not seen that with the progesterone based ones (depo-provera & mini-pill) If you are considering either of these, I would do the mini-pill first just to make sure you tolerate it well.
I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen a month ago, it gave me terrible mood swings, which the pill normally used to do when I was on it about 10 years ago. I stopped and had a copper IUD put in. So far it has been wonderful. A little cramping but that has subsided. It is worth it, no hormones, no weight gain or water retention. Best decision I ever made.
I'm not really -on- anything. I take ortho tri cyclen lo but other than that, there's nothing that I take on a daily basis. I do get migraines however (usually about 2 or 3 a month) for which I usually just take advil or excedrin migraine. And I had eaten, which was the first thing I thought might have been a factor, but since I had eaten (a salad and grilled chicken), I figured that wasn't the problem. If my anxiety symptoms are getting worse, what type of doctor should I see?
Hey I am not sure about this kind of birth control pill but when I was taking ortho tri cyclen when I was younger I had to go off of it for a bit just so I could lose some of the weight that it made me put on =( It was totally terrible and I am with you, the only other form of birth control that I have ever used is the nuva ring. I would never use any form of birth control pill and I definitely plan to go back to the ring when I am done with this pregnancy.
Yasmin®, Demulen® 1/50, Othro-Tri Cyclen®, Ortho-Cyclen®, Yasmin®, Brevicon®, Modicon®, Necon®, Ortho Evra®, Mircette® Best cleansers: the neutrogena bar for acne with salicylic acid and plain baking soda for a scrub in the shower. The best toner is Clinique level 2 or 3, and there are good reviews on the home microdermabrasian kits at the stores. Just make sure your skin can tolerate all the dryness.
I too had mood and anxiety issues with a new BC, Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I'm a healthy 31yo, have tried Ortho Tri Cyclen (seemed to cause weight gain and higher appetite) and Yasmin (caused crazy recurring yeast infections) in the past. Two months ago, I decided to start using BC again after only using condoms, and my OB prescribed Ortho Tricyclen Lo. After first few weeks, I started noticing that I was tired all the time -- even when I was getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night -- and moody.
I have the Implanon implant which apparently does not protect against ovarian cysts, so I was going to wait til Dec to get that removed from my arm and go back on the ortho tri cyclen (and pray for no migraines this time), but if I still can't walk more then 15 feet before I'm in pain again then yea, I'm calling tomorrow to get another appt. I've never had back pain like this associated with it and my last one they said was 7cm so...
Then I noticed a decrease in sex drive, and a few other things that i feel may have been associated, but I'm not sure. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for about 7 years before - and decided to go back on it this past Sunday. Also - by switching I'm saving about $500 a year! My health insurance didn't cover Seasonale but it does cover Ortho - SO, i'm taking Ortho like Seasonale, and paying for the extra packs! Hopefully it will work out.. we'll see..
Acne is caused when androgens (male hormones found in both male and female bodies) stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands. Certain contraceptive pills (Yaz, Diane35 and Ortho Tri-Cyclen) block the action of androgens are are prescribed to control acne as well as provide birth control. If you cannot take the pill due to migraines ask your doctor for a gel called Differin. This is a topical synthetic retinoid which counteracts the abnormal skin processes invloved in acne. Eloise.
Hi all! Does anyone know if birth control pills such as Ortho Tri-cyclen can contribute to neurological problems? I `ve had neurological problems for 8 1/s mos. now which started after my daughter was born. I started taking b-control shortly after that. But I recently stopped taking it do to high blood pressure. Since I`ve stopped, many of my problems have improved. Any other women have any problems like this?
Immediately when starting Yaz I stopped bleeding. I peed for like 4 days straight and lost all the water weight. I also get migraines with my period, and Yaz hasnt seemed to help them at all. The first 3 weeks I had horrid migraine. The most noticable change though is that I am extremely emotional. I got angry for the first time in maybe 2 years? I never feel anger. I'm a buddhist very calm loving and patient... Since taking Yaz I feel like a crazy person.
I was off of birth control for a few months, and got Tri-Nessa when I went back on it (generic for Ortho Tri Cyclen). I don't always experience bleeding with penetration, in fact that itself is pretty rare. With clitoral orgasm, I bleed. Hopefully this isn't "too much information", but yesterday, all I did was THINK about sex, get excited--no orgasm, no stimulation of any kind, and I'm bleeding a few hours later.
I started taking Yasmin for 6 months ( I quit taking Yasmin in March) after taking Ortho Novum for 14 years. I noticed that I was gaining water weight like crazy (my arms, my legs, my abs-I have a six pack normally) I work out 5 to 6 days a week (35 minutes of serious cardio-step mill, jump rope, running, etc.)Does anyone on this message board lift weights pretty seriously and have noticed that they have gained water weight since stopping the pill? Thanks!
they have this new product called refresh, you can use it after sex and it helps cause I was on orthro tri cyclen lo, and I seemed to have the same problem cause we had sex sometimes 4 times a day and the best thing to do is take a shower and wash up really good.
I just read over a few more comment strings and thought it might be helpful to post my history as well. Gain detergent Ortho Evera birth control I do have a history of exema and alergies no pets and I live in a fairly dry climate As I mentioned before my Dr. did test me for herpes and my results came back negative. I wear thongs, or at least I did before this problem. No real history with yeast infections or any other infections... in fact I've never even had chicken pox.
For about a year and a half it was only when I lay down at night, but as of late, I can hear and feel it randomly during the day too. I have a history of migraines and severe headaches and thought maybe they were connected, but that is not the case. I have worked in the medical field for 11 years and have never heard of this symptom from patients. I am actually embarrassed to talk to a doctor about this because I am afraid they will look at me like I am crazy. Any suggestions?
I've only been with 2 partners in my life; current partner for 6 years. Started with Ortho Tri-Cylcen, switched to OrthoTri-Cyclen Lo, and this year switched to Tri-Sprintec (generic of Ortho Lo). I've really only noticed this issue since I started Tri-Sprintec. I'm wondering if it is to blame. I'm seeing my doctor for my yearly PAP on December 23rd and I will post my findings then.
