ondansetron for stomach flu

Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.

Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.

And yes Nexium as Pepela suggested is also in the PPI class

I have been taking Cymbalta now for 8 days. I have had very little side effects.Tonight, about 45 minutes ago, I felt like someone was taking my stomach and intestines and twisting them in a knot and then I became nauseated. I took a Prilosec and some Gas X. I ate the same thing the rest of the family ate for supper and they are fine. I have 2 questions. Could this be related to the Cymbalta? I absolutely have a phobia to throwing up. My mom has Ondansetron that she takes when she is nauseated.

Yes I took this while tx for stomach issues. Maybe I will try it. Yes still feel beat up 1/3< of the time. Haven't said anything about lingering sx. It would seem they become so persistent I forget about the 48 weeks. Which is easy to do. Hard to believe I am 24 months post tx. That said, my mind is starting to accept the idea it is just age, wear and tear. Just coincidentally just became so obvious during tx.

Hi there, Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. Best to call your doctor vomiting and diohrea vcan cause dehydration and all the heaving sqeezes your belly not going to be good for baby.

It is unusual for a stomach virus to cause such a high fever. I would be concerned for a bacterial infection which can be more serious. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

I think I caught the stomach flu from my nephew and my moms helper. I am about to be 36 weeks, so is there anything I can do for it, or do I just have to wait it out? My 2 yr old son has just vomitted for the 3rd time since I've been home (12am) and 1 more time before that. He pukes and doesn't have a problem passing right back out. If it only lasted a couple hours and not several days it was food poisoning...most people get it without even knowing it because they automatically label it as "stomach flu" if your doctor said 2 go if it doesn't go away I wouldn't worry about it if it's finally over with...

I take ondansetron. It is a nausea and vomiting that is okay for pregnant woman. I am 21 weeks and have been taking it since 15 weeks. I would ask your doctor about giving them to you. They work so good for me! I have had terrible nausea and vomiting also and know how much that *****! Make sure and keep drinking water, no matter what!

You say "I have a 7 month baby and has the stomach flu." Do you mean you have the flu or the baby has the flu? If the latter, go with the advice from margy. If the former, feed the baby as usual, keeping yourself as hydrated as possible. (Stomach flu doesn't transmit in breast milk.
