Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. These symptoms will ware off once you have stopped using the medication. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps.

Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Btw mommynov26 what was the Med that was prescribed to you? I was prescribed Ondansetron ( vomikind 4 mg) but that cuauses headache and worsen the constipation.
No drug is 100% safe in pregnancy but ondansetron (trade name Zofran) is fairly safe. It does cause constipation. I would take it if I had severe morning sickness.
Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too.

I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
And yes Nexium as Pepela suggested is also in the PPI class
I'm 32 weeks right now and I have been taking ondansetron to help with the nausea... And it helps out!!
My bloods for organ function were fine thankfully so Ive been put on ondansetron and discharged. Im really worried as the Doctor told be it is only perscribed if the benefits outway the risks which is the case with HG but after hearing that I wanted to ask you for your experiences please. The HG is worse on this pregnancy but im terrified of harming the baby.
Going to contact the health store and see what they can provide vitamins etc so anything u think of please let me know.
My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water.
I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!
Hi am in my 13th week and is having bad nausea my doctor gave me this Ondansetron tables which helped a lot but am concerned about taking it. Any suggestions on should I take this medicine as it help me to work??
I was on it for 4 days before that specific one stopped working and I ended up in the hospital again.. I'm 19 weeks today and had to take diclectin, ranitadine, and ondansetron up until 16 weeks regularly now it's just if i get stressed.
(For constipation)Try upping your fruit intake and drinking even more water. 6 bottles is very good, but when you're pregnant sometimes your body needs even more. And everyone's limit is different. (For nausea) I had to stop taking my prescribed prenatals and iron supplement and just get over the counter prenatals. Like the fummies or the flinstones. As long as you're eating very healthy it shouldn't make a big difference unless told otherwise by your doctor.
I am not happy with taking drugs while pregnant but I have lost a extrem amount of weight and it has been stressed to me medication and iv fluids are absolutely necessary. So have been taking Ondansetron (Zofran) and another prochlorperazine. I am very scared of what I have heard about these two drugs and my huge question is what medications do you pregnant women out there trust???
