He didn't ask me about my history of anxiety and diet changes and at that time and I didn't feel it was important enough to tell him) He put me on Omeprazole 20 mg once a day. Blood work all came negative. H. Pylori -ve. After around 15 days on Omeprazole now, the burping has definitely reduced (only just before food and immediately after), but now I feel a lump in my throat sometimes, followed by a mild burning sensation in chest (highest when hungry). I also have a cough when I talk.

Hi Bailey, Zegrid is Omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate can change the way your body absorbs or eliminates certain other drugs. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.Notice this states it may affect herbal products absorbtion, so the herbal coffee subsitute may not do all it claims....
Did you take any sodium bicarbonate product and did it help? If you have to much acid this usually temporarily helps. If over the counter Prilosec helps then its most likely high acid levels. Low acid can also cause reflux/gerd from improper digestion. In this Prilosec and other Proton Pump Inhibitors (a class of acid reducing drugs) do not work and might cause more digestive problems. Then, a good brand of digestive enzymes from a local health food / vitamin store usually helps.
He immediately switched me to a new med - omeprazole, 40 mg with sodium bicarbonate. He said the inability to breathe is an asthma attack. The stomach acid seaps into my lungs, inflaming the bronchils and waking me up. He's going to do an egd next week to see what's going on inside. Why does my breathing become normal? What causes the bronchils to shrink relatively quickly? I would think they would stay inflamed and I would pass out and die.
He says it's a great medicine for adults- except for adults with sodium problems. He also doesn't recommend that much sodium for babies and says they need a higher fluid intake for their kidneys to flush the sodium. I am reading up a bit on it though, through the Marci website to learn more about it.
I do not wish to live on omeprazole but don't want stomach attacks to return where the pain is sharp and prohibits me from standing. Any thoughts on why I may overproduce stomach acid or what may be going on? Thx!
He gave me like 20 bottles of sample Zegerid 40mg/1100mg omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate capsules. Took these for about 2 weeks and they did not help much at all. I rarely brought acid up my throat but I do on several occasions have food brought up. When I would go to sleep feeling sick I would always wake up the next day better until I ate. Then I would either get sick or not. This is the norm now. Any ideas on what might be effecting me?
It works by chemical reaction of neutralization (PH) of acids, any acid. Instant relief, but short term. Alka Seltzer is mainly Sodium Bicarbonate and Asprin. There is only one PPI that also has some sodium bicarbonate in it, Zegerid.
I believe its not just down to allergies. I am taking omeprazole for the acid reflux and I have no acid that I know about although I do regurgitate food randomly. Could the acid have effected my throat and airway? I am 33 yr old male. I was diagnosed with ME/Chronic fatigue syndrome in 2001(11 years ago). It has caused me many problems. Could this be effecting me now too? What do I do?

S. (esomeprazole, dexlansoprazole [DEXILANT], omeprazole, omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate [ZEGERID], lansoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole and naproxen [VIMOVO]; PRILOSEC OTC, ZEGERID OTC, PREVACID 24-HR; and all other generic counterparts).
I just read about it here on the Forum and began taking a Zegerid (omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate) in the mornings. I did that for a couple of weeks and the problem just kind of resolved itself. I guess it had a lot to do with the kinds of fats I was eating, my routine and a few other things - in addition to the Incivek, of course.
Nothing that really burns, it just feels like I'm bringing some liquid up when I belch. - Weakness and fatigue, especially in the head and legs. - Palpitations and a feeling of not getting enough air. Tends to happen more at night or when sitting down. Gaviscon Advance temporarily relieves these symptoms but not entirely. Omeprazole and lifestyle changes do nothing. Lansoprazole sometimes made me worse.
Prescription PPIs include Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium), Dexilant (dexlansoprazole), Prilosec (omeprazole), Zegerid (omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate), Prevacid (lansoprazole), Protonix (pantoprazole sodium), AcipHex (rabeprazole sodium), and Vimovo (a prescription combination drug product that contains a PPI (esomeprazole magnesium and naproxen).
) Only caution is that because it contains sodium bicarbonate, anyone on a low sodium diet should factor in whatever sodium is contained in Zegerid to their daily allowance, although I believe their web site says it has less sodium than in a serving of corn flakes. Come to think of it, maybe I should pop one now since I chased down the cheeseburger with two cups of coffee, a real GERD (reflux) no-no.
) Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) test... The following steps help to determine your stomach's acidity: 1. Perform this test first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (before eating or drinking) 2. Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of baking soda into an 8 oz glass of cold water 3. Drink the solution and start timing 4. Record the time until you first burp up gas 5.
Thinking is just a chronic sinusitis I tried everything, from salt and bicarbonate sodium, oregano oil, coktail of antibiotics,I tried to strength the immune system, diet with no sugar,no carbohydrate,no gluten,no junk food, but nothing worked. All the nasal spray, peroxide 3% everything you name it, I tried. And now I find the true. But I have some good news for you as well,I find a cure for it,cheap no invasive,is called blue light therapy with blue light led 470nm.
I think I/we can guess or prognose just as well or better than they can at times particularly if we know something about health and or ourselves and our own health. Never be afraid to speak up because I feel strongly that digestive tract problems are real and translate into other real nasty symptoms like this. Fortunately we can prevent much of this & need to prevent it from happening.
I am experiencing all of the same symptoms. As soon as the "knot" feeling under my left rib cage starts I have a full blown anxiety attack. I also can feel something moving under there (most likely the gas). I am also experiencing the diffuculty burping and back pain. I agree with one of the other postings that when our bodies become imploded from the gas, it must trigger adreneline. At this point I am at a loss.
106) There are no known methods for reducing the body burden of h2s, although reducing the intake of sulfhydryl-containing amino acides has been shown to reduce endogenous production. Amyl and sodium nitrates have been used as antidotes for h2s. Oxygen treatment, which may result in non-enzymatic oxidation of cytochrome oxidase, may also be used in the treatment of h2s poisening. -The MDs studying h2s (p.107/108)(maybe we should contact them? He may be fine for a day a week or a month, and then all the sudden he says he feels like he's weak and dizzy and feels like someone is poking his heart with a needle, his arm near his arm pit with hurt. He burps alot and it releaves some of the discomfort. Various other things as well. Generally he said he gets a "funny" feeling throughout his body. We went to the doctor years ago for it, and all they told us was it was because he had a fever of 98.9,(fever?)!!
Thanks to Duchess47, Wepst and JDanMan for your comments and suggestions. I will seriously look into all of your suggestions and hope that it's just some seasonal allergy thing. Thanks again.
