1258062 tn?1299842031 what is the right amount of omega 3 during pregnancy? i got 1000 mg per softgel is that safe?
Avatar f tn Please don't misunderstand me. I am not advocating for not taking any multivitamins; I'm just saying that for specific vitamins and minerals, there are food alternatives that are better - if you incorporate them into your daily diet. I actually take Centrum and a folic acid supplement daily since they give me most of the vitamins that I need and don't cost much, but was spending alot of money on prenatal Omega-3 pills. The flax seed is an alternative to Omega-3 only.
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
1655526 tn?1330655629 So im not crazy after all.. I have told doctors and other people that fish and omega 3 bother my arrthymia. Noone believed me but I know what happens and it isnt pretty. I stay away from it. I did find an article once that said its good for the heart but people with arrythmias it can make them go into life threating ones.
1645208 tn?1301072177 Yes, you can give fish oil caps. Salmon oil caps at Costco. Omega 3 caps daily. Canned sardines packed in oil. Actually, quite a few people are starting to add coconut oil with good results. Avatar m tn t just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding.
Avatar m tn This small study suggests it helps and there are any health benefts to getting sufficient Omega- 3 in diet Omega 3 study
Avatar f tn s highly recommend it, there are numerous studies that talk aboutthe benefits of Omega 3 and very few that talk about risks associated with pregnancy. I am 5 months pregnant and my baby is very healthy so far. The risks associated are from fish oil that comes from contaminated fish. You should look for supplements that are "distilled" from contaminants.
773801 tn?1244520679 The doctor will tell you to take prenatal vitamins and DHA which is Omega 3 which promotes healthy brain development and eyes and nervous system. What they fail to tell you that if you are taking these daily that you need to stop taking them at the end of your pregnancy because it prevents you from going into labor. Omega 3 are used to help prevent preterm labor, PMS menstral cramps in non pregnant women and relieve joint and prevent inflammation.
Avatar m tn I am taking Nature Made Fish Oil 1200 mg, I take 3 pills a day and it is working perfectly, I can even jog 1.5 miles a day with no problems at all.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn I take my prenatal pill one times a day. And It has everything I need But No omega 3 an I heard to take it 2nd or 3rd trimester. Just don't remember what was said.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn ok im an anorexic and i am currently taking zinc, potassium, calcium , magnesium, omega 3 and vitamin c d. I am about to start taking kelp pills, and was wondering what the risk or dangers would be to me. And are there any side effects to just taking them on thier own? 657586 tn?1224587947 Fish is great brain food (Omega 3 essental fatty acid) for you and the baby and I would just make sure its cooked. I am avoiding raw despite pregnant women eating it in japan I am just being careful and having cooked fish once or twice a week.
Avatar f tn I haven't taken omega 3 all pregnancy and I'm 20.1 weeks is that bad...am I a bad mom. Or you think since I'm on prenatal pills it's okay?
Avatar m tn 2 days ago I bought an over the counter Omega 3 and 6 with evening primrose oil. I took a total of 3 pills since I bought them and read somewhere that evening primrose oil causes complications in early pregnancy. Can this potentially mean my baby is in danger or I could have a miscarriage?
Avatar n tn I haven't heard anything about fish pills. In my pregnancy journal book it lists a million vitamins to take and they're all in my prenatal vitamin. The only thing that is low in the prenatal is calcium. So, I take my prenatal, calcium, and vitamin C. Hope that helps!
