omega-3

1645208 tn?1301072177 Fish oils and all oily fish are extremely good for dogs. Omega 3 oils, all-round healthy for dogs and people. Tuna, sardines, salmon, mackerel.....(mind the bones. They can be dangerous of course) The bones in canned fish are ok, they are softer and not only edible but an excellent source of calcium too.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
9214378 tn?1408881584 s a great question, but the answer is going to be a bit complicated, so bare with me. Eggs are normally good for dogs in small quantities. But, they contain good omega-3 fatty acid AND the bad-for-dogs-in-kidney-failure omega-6 fatty acid. The best answer with eggs I have found is to be cautious, because what happened to eggs through mass production and processing over the last 100 years has changed their value completely.
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
Avatar n tn I do both....I have a number of dog food cook books....I have 4 furkids so I usually make recipes like Turkey loafs or turkey patties that go along way...There favorite snack is homemade blueberry muffins. (Also from a cookbook). I make a batch and freeze them..Pull out a few at a time. I eat them, too. They are yummy! :) Made with honey and such with no salt or any of that...I add Icelandic Salmon oil to their food, as it is an omega 3...
Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.
Avatar m tn The vet told me to give her fish oil, omega 3, or make her treats with it. I was wondering if the liquid fish oil you buy for dogs is ok to bake with. I'd like to make some treats, but I don't want to risk making my dog sick but cooking the oil. I also don't know if cooking it will defeat the purpose...if it was reduce the effectiveness of the omega 3s. Has anyone tried this before?

1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
1258062 tn?1299842031 what is the right amount of omega 3 during pregnancy? i got 1000 mg per softgel is that safe?

Avatar m tn Quite a complex topic this but at the same time an interesting one. Omega 3 isn't just one substance, Omega three are fatty acids just like Omega 6 fatty acids found in oils and meat etc. Omega 3 are EPA, DHA, and ALA . Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints.
Avatar n tn There is nothing wrong with an Omega-3 supplement for most dogs. But there are also some who are highly sensitive to anything fatty and can develop pancreatitis. My own advice? See how they go with the water. If you can't get water to stay down, or if symptoms persist, go to the vet a.s.a.p.
Avatar m tn I am taking Nature Made Fish Oil 1200 mg, I take 3 pills a day and it is working perfectly, I can even jog 1.5 miles a day with no problems at all.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
Avatar f tn Agree also to get him on a better food. Try to find a grain free food with Omega 3 in it. Do a gradual transition over a few days mixing old and new food.
Avatar n tn It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar n tn What is the benefit of Omega 3, Omega 6 and omega 9, can u tell me individually ? Do these all Omega 3,6, and 9 help for lowering cholesterol?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar f tn Thank you for response. Omega 3 worked wonderfully for me, even with my occasional Atrial fibrillation. One must, however, get a good brand from a real health food store and take 1 grm 3x's per day - my arrhythmia doctor recommended this. She also said selenium, magnesium, COQ10, calcium, aloe vera soft gels. I use what Dr. Oz recommends - Nordic Naturals - they have a bit of lemon so you don't get that awful after taste of fish oil.
