I will quote something I found on the internet: "Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and the other quinolone antibiotics (ofloxacin, etc) are contraindicated in pregnancy for theoretical reasons because of their effects on ADOLESCENT dogs' cartilage (i.e., joint problems). There has never been an adverse effect on HUMANS like this, to my knowledge, and no problems in pregnancy that I am aware of. We still advise against their use in pregnancy, but only for theoretical reasons.
As a fluoroquinolone, it is in the same class of agents as ciprofloxacin, enoxacin, levofloxacin, lomefloxacin, norfloxacin, and ofloxacin. Nalidixic acid is also a quinolone drug. Reproduction studies, conducted in male and female rats, found no evidence of impaired fertility or reproductive performance at oral doses approximately 15 times the maximum human dose on a mg/m2 basis (MHD) (1).
Other antibiotics used for the treatment of tuberculosis that should be avoided in pregnancy are amikacin, kanamycin, clofazimine cycloserine, capreomycin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, sparfloxacin, and ethionamide. Myrin-p forte 3 which your friend is taking contains pyrazinamide. It would be better if she takes only Ethambutol, Rifampicin, Isoniazid. She should discuss this with her treating doctor. Take care!
After taking Tosufloxacin for 2-3 days, i start to have some pain in my back, and i consulted another urologist who has put me again on ofloxacin for 7-10 days. I read on the internet that Ofloxacin can deal with Chlamidyia and other STDs. Is it correct ?
The reactivity of 13 quinolones (levofloxacin, ofloxacin, pefloxacin, enoxacin, moxifloxacin, gatifloxacin, trovafloxacin, sparfloxacin, lomefloxacin, ciprofloxacin, clinafloxacin, norfloxacin, and nalidixic acid) was tested in 5 commercial opiate screening assays from September 1998 to March 1999. In 6 healthy volunteers, we confirmed the cross-reactivity of levofloxacin or ofloxacin with these opiate screening assays.
To come back to your problem ask your doctor for ciprofloxacin prescription and try to drink if possible pure Cranberry juice it will also help. Hope I was of some help? Take care.

Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the nerves that send information to and from the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body. Damage interrupts this connection, and the symptoms depend on which nerves are affected. In general, the symptoms are in the arms and legs and include numbness, tingling, burning, or shooting pain. Peripheral neuropathy has been listed as a side effect of fluoroquinolones since 2004.

Avelox (moxifloxacin) Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Factive (gemifloxacin), Floxin (ofloxacin), Levaquin (levofloxacin), Noroxin (norfloxacin), and Tequin (gatifloxacin). If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs.
One thing that worries me, I read in some websites, Ofloxacin will mask Syphilis test or symptoms. And I think, Inoflox is Ofloxacin? How about Amoxicilin and Zinnat? My concern is all these antibiotics might mask the Syphilis infection, if I was infected from the exposure causing false negative in the test. Need your advice on this, doctor. What should I do next?
This problem started from July'09 and attacked once and twice each month. Senitive bacterias are IMEPENEM, CIPROFLOXACIN, OFLOXACIN, GENTAMICIN, PIPERACILLIN, TAZOBACTUM, NITROFURONTOIN and TETRACYCLINE found in my latest unrine culture report. ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, monofloxacin, fusicid acid, chlortetracycline... Also anti-inflamatory drugs like Tobradex and FML which help reduce inflamation but not treat the cause. What worries me now is that inflamation has reached near the cornea, as an incomplete bluish ring. May this threaten the cornea? My vision is not normal and i have had watery eye for about half a year now. What treatment do you think will be best for this condition? Ciclosporine after a steroid, another antibiotic?

Do you hold the pills with the left hand perhaps? Ciprofloxacin and Levaquin (Levofloxacin) are in the same drug class (fluroquinolones). It makes sense that you would be allergic to both. You probably are allergic to other drugs in the same class such as moxifloxacinI, Ofloxacin, etc. You can tell by the drugs generic name usually (all have floxacin in their name). I would report any allergies to your doctor. What are you taking the antibiotic for a urinary tract infection?
I have completed several doses of (ciprofloxacin, Tarvid , pefloxacin , ofloxacin (400mg per day for 10days) Erythromycin and gentamycin(IV five days ).
About a year ago, my doctor diagnosed me with Epididymitis (swelling of the tube on the back of the testicle) on my right side and I took Ciprofloxacin (500mg twice a day for 10 days) and the very severe pains went away. My doctor also said the pain in my lower back when I run might be due to sciatica - swelling of a major nerve that runs from the lower back into the leg. He told me to take ibuprofen after my workouts if it still bothered me, and I've been doing that off and on.

Pharmacokinetic evidence demonstrates that plasma levels of oral contraceptive steroids are unchanged with the concomitant administration of antibiotics, including ampicillin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, doxycycline, metronidazole, ofloxacin, roxithromycin, temafloxacin, and tetracycline. However, reduced steroid levels have been reported in women taking rifampin with oral contraceptives.
After some episode of urination I started passing blood and blood clots in my urine with severe pain. I had Ofloxacin which I brought from my country. I took 200mg of Ofloxacin that night and second 200 mg dose next day morning. My hematuria completely stopped. But pain continued. Then I decided to go to the hospital and consult a physician. The hospital sent urine routine & microscopy and urine culture. Urine microscopy showed plenty leukocytes and RBCs.
I called the doc and told him what I knew, his atitude was I'am the doctor and I guarantee this will work. He said take the medicine for 3-weeks and then get retested and you'll see. I'am really pissed at his atitude.

In the end I told him that I have Ciprofloxacin, and Levofloxacin, and more Flagyl on hand. He said I should take 500mg of Levofloxacin and Flagyl every day for 7 days and that I have prostatitis.?? Awesome. Again, just placated, brushed off and given a generic diagnosis - Didn't seem concerned that I've already taken every anti-biotic under the sun / He seemed 100% confident that Levo would work (or he really wanted to leave the office for lunch) I'm going to cross my fingers.

Arguably it was overkill to use both cefixime (Suprax) and ciprofloxacin to cover gonorrhea, but it wouldn't do any harm. My guess is that "avon" is azithromycin (trade name Zithromax); and indeed doxycycline for 7 days or azithromycin 1.0 g (single dose) are the two treatments of choice for NGU. (It is clear your doctor friend is very knowledgeable about STDs.
18 months ago I took Ciprofloxacin and it caused me some effects: Started as balanitis with blisters, discharge but these symptoms have gone, I still have: minor inflammation/redness), skin of penis wrinkled- loss of sensation, stinging/swelling after ejaculation, painful erections.

I got an allergic reaction again and was recommended to stop with the Ofloxacin. The symptoms was still present and I went to the hospital and was told that it could be an inflammation in the testicle. Was given Ciprofloxacin but got an allergic reaction of this one as well. Went back to the third clinic and they prescribed Cefixime and Erythromycin for me that should be taken for 14 days (Cefixime twice a day 200 mg each dose and Erythromycine 1 g twice a day).
