I used to habitually watch what I ate because I easily gain weight, but in pregnancy we need a good 2000 calories at least. As long as you're getting enough calories and eating all the important things, I wouldn't worry too much unless your doctor says you're pretty underweight for your stage of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Sometimes malnutrition can present as being skinny all over except for a bloated belly area. 900 calories is not enough food especially for someone so young. Get the doctor check up and make sure they run full bloodwork. Then if all is okay start some cardio exercise like running etc and definitely increase your caloric intake, whatever your doctor recommends.

My blood work from the doctor came back normal except a slight increase in calcium. after testing that again, it was in the normal range. Any advice on what I should do?
Avatar n tn Perhaps the 1200-1300 calories/day you're eating are not enough. If you don't eat enough calories, your metabolism will slow down in order to preserve fat because there isn't enough food coming in. Another reason is perhaps you aren't eating the right types of calories. If you're eating too much bread, potatoes, rice, etc... Those are simple carbs that are broken down quickly and if not used for energy right away, will be stored as fat for later use.

With cutting on diet one may initially lose weight but this may remain static or increase later. Avatar m tn Try changing things around a bit -- up your calories by a couple hundred for a day or two, then drop them back down. AND if you do the same exercises day after day, your body can become used to it and it's no longer a challenge, so you need to vary your exercise as well. You still might not be eating enough calories, so it's possible that your body still thinks it's going to starve. Losing 2 pounds in a week is excellent -- I wish I could do that well..............

Avatar f tn t start gaining much until 25 weeks or so. Its not abnormal to not gain at the beginning. The amount of calories your baby needs right now is small compared to what it will be later on. As long as you are eating healthy and taking your prenatals, don't stress about it. Your doctor will monitor you and let you know if it becomes a concern :) Congrats and best of luck to you!

Avatar n tn I also keep a daily calorie journal and have been eating around 900 calories/day but thats total not net calories. Net calories total around 400-600/day depending how hard I work out that day. I stick to a strict diet of lean meat, whole wheats, vegetables and fat free dairy products. YET, I've GAINED one lb and haven't lost any weight. I don't see any results and my jeans are still tight. I stick strictly to working out and my diet plan.

I've never heard of dogs having tonsilectomies before now. :-) It sounds like your dog (1) had a whole lot of infection going to justify surgery, and (2) even with surgery it's going to take more time and medication to get rid of it. Between the infection, antibiotics and surgery I'm not surprised he doesn't want to eat. I'm glad to hear you're calling your vet about the leg weakness.

Today I have eaten probably 400 calories and worked out and burned about 388. I just feel too full to eat. Should I just eat as much as I can without stuffing myself and when my body tells me it needs more make adjustments then or should I just stuff myself to make sure I eat atleast 1500 calories?

I am not a health care professional but have been successful in losing about 50 lbs in the last 6-8 months. I'd suggest perhaps you aren't eating enough, or eating enough at the right times. Small balanced breakfast, low on carbs...(carbs tend to make us more hungry) healthy snack before lunch.... balanced lunch.....

978106 tn?1285108401 I do have a cheat day once a week and allow up to 2000 calories that day. I do not expect to lose alot of weight at a time. I want to do this slowly so it will stick, but the problem is im gaining weight. I lost 11lbs at first and have since gained back 3 in the last 2 weeks. I also have been more active over the last month, but admit not so much in the last week, I took a full time temp job and go to school full time so I have not had the time as of late. Help!
