I recently went to my drs office and mentioned that I was feeling nauseated again at 36 weeks. He stated that it's due to indigestion and I brought up how I used to be on an acid reflux medicine called protonix before getting pregnant but discontinued use of it after finding out. I've been feeling horrible but I'm iffy about taking it. anyone ever taken nexium during pregnancy?
Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.
I've had pregnancy gingivitis in my second pregnancy. It's not the same. I'm 30.4 weeks & haven't had morning sicess at all this pregnancy.

He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.
Without Nexium my ulcerated esophagus would never have healed. In fact, I was taking 2 40 mg doses per day and Nexium is not ordinary omniprazole it is a derivitized/substitutes omniprazole and it does function differently.
Nexium does spend a lot of money advertizing it as an "alternative." Then they back it up by giving you a card on their site and regardless of insurance coverage, if you use the card, no matter how much the doctor prescribes you, your cost is $18.

I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?

I am a 36 yr old female who is taking nexium for GERD and or gastritis. Every so often I experience this burning sensation around my stomach and upper area back which may last for several days. My bowels have changed in size, the color is usually normal, but I do not see any blood nor mucus, and when I did have a bowel movement there is pressure near the rectum area. I have gotten a colonoscopy which was negative.
Hello, I have lived for several yaers now with GERD, I use Nexium 40mg 2 or 3 times a week, it helps me a lot but I often have a pain in beetween my shoulders after meals epecially fried meals. Could this be the same heartburn I feel in my chest after a meal? It always comes from 1 to 2 hours after a meal. it seams to me that Nexium don`t have any affect on this symptom.
This all started after a weekend of drinking beer for 3 days straight, I noticed a day after when i was eating a piece of chicken it felt like it was sticking or stuck in my estapagous. Hi. I have had a long standing problem with a feeling that I have a limp in my throat - chocking sensation, like when you are holding back crying. I have always assumed it was anxiety/stress and have been prescribed xanax for when it is really bad. I also have had a hiatal hernia for many years and take nexium. Is the hernia and acid relux possibly a cause for this 'lump in the throat' feeling? What can be done besides taking an addictive med like xanax? Thanks for any advice!
It's common with pregnancy. Take some antacids. Zantac, nexium, prilosec all work for 24 hrs. Try drinking some milk for some relief.
With this the docs decided to put me on Nexium which helped in the beginning but then the feeling came back, now I am on Ranitidine twice a day with taking Mylanta (for gas).

probably an ulcer, caused by h.ploryi. It's confirmed usually by a test or there's a not so accurate breath test. Usually treated with triple therapy antibiotics. Even though you're taking nexium, h. ploryi still can live and prosper in a stomach..so you probably need that blood test asap. Your primary doctor can order the test for you.
My sister takes Nexium for acid reflux. Now she has started have pain in her knees. I talked her into stopping nexium for a while and the knee pain subsided. However, she said that she had to have the acid reflux medicine. Could the nexium have caused fluid in her knees? And if so what is an alternative?

Uniform Medical is not going to cover any PPI's in 2012. They stated that this is because they have a policy that any drug that has an equivilent OTC will not be covered. Can you believe it!
I need to some good references and examples of medical appeal letters. I had a Nissin back in 2004 for hiatal hernia and have taken 2 40mg Nexium a day since. I have a slight scarred esophagus and only occasional breakthrough at night.
Nexium would help GERD, ulcers, and inflammation of the stomach.
If it hasn't been done already, you can consider an upper endoscopy which can give a more conclusive answer.
Other tests to consider would be a 24-hr pH study or an abdominal ultrasound to evaluate for GERD and the liver/gallbladder respectively.
I would also obtain blood tests to exclude the bacteria H Pylori, which is associated with ulcers and inflammation.
