1855076 tn?1337115303 One of my new pain conditions is terrible neck pain with very limited range of motion to the left. I've actually stopped driving for the most part. This started a year ago and the increased me to 25 mg oxycodone with 10 mg of OxyContin at bedtime. (He told me today the insurance is likely to cut me off the 10 mg OxyContin soon.) Just wondering if anyone has had these injections and how bad they hurt? I have 3 collapsed disks impinging on a nerve.

Avatar n tn I have been suffering from constant head/neck pain for over 10 years. The pain begins behind the ear, right side above the base of the skull. It radiates down the spine below the shoulder blades. I have had the following treatments: cervical spine fusion c5/c6 due to rupture disk, botox injections to the head, neurostimulater implant 4 yrs then removed, steroid injections, and taken huge quantities of narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar n tn I usually post in the addiction forum for pain meds because of my addiction. I have had low back pain for years and that was the start of the pain meds. In December of 07 I fell at work. I slipped on a wet floor and went down like a bag of potatoes. I didn't think I had hurt myself too bad. I was sore and had a bruise on my elbow but that was it. Well January came around and i woke up with a terrible pain in my neck to the point that I couldn't turn it. I went to the dr.

997898 tn?1303734864 my understanding is that it takes 30-40 injections about every 3 months for max effectivness for pain control. they give the injections in the neck, shoulder area and face. has anyone had these injections? is this accurate? who do you go to for the injections? i was refered to pain management, but do i really want this guy to be injecting botox into my face??? shouldn't a plastic surgeon do that? i have heard positive results from this treatment and want to try it...
Avatar f tn Hi matd, I broke my neck playing softball some years ago and have had issues with neck pain and shoulder pain as well as headaches periodically. I have purchased several expensive pillows that promised to relieve the headaches and pain but none of them worked. I found that if my pillow is flat and my neck well supported I sleep more comfortably and wake with less pain and headaches. There are a multitude of opinions on facet joint and cervical injections.
Avatar m tn You should ask your sister to lookout for and cosult her doc.I am now on pain killers, but still the pain is there and my doc. is asking me to come to him crying otherwise no surgery.
Avatar f tn t get into trouble for giving you injections unless it could be proved that you had an injury where he damaged you further by his injections of the anti-inflammatory medication I assume he was injecting. But it sounds like you are wanting an MRI of your neck, should have your hips problem properly diagnosed, should be in physical therapy I suspect, and are desirous of oral pain medication. So, to basically end as I began, I believe you need to find another physician- one who listens to you.
Avatar f tn The doc did 4 injections, 2 in my neck and 2 in my back. The injections looked like a milky white liquid. I am not sure what it was though. My pain was an 8 and now it is about a 6. I called the doc and am still waiting for a call back. Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn A van side swipped her mini-van and cause some severe neck damage. This damage cause constant pain in her neck, migrains, and some numbness. The treatment they prescribed was getting cold injections to the nerves in neck and head. She received three treatments over the past year with some short term relief of pain but always come back. Beside this treatment she been doing a routine of physiotherapy, deep tisse massage, water therapy with some relief but not enough.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone out there that has dealt with C3 C4 disc protrusion? I have pain in mid to low neck that radiates into shoulders and arms. Sitting, walking and just everyday use of my arms seems to aggrevate it. In the beginning I also had numbness and tingling in the pinky, ring and middle fingers. I have noticed improvement with this aspect of the problem. I have been on pain meds, anti inflamatory and muscle relaxers for a month with very little improvement.
Avatar m tn He did injections. Neither helped, especially last one. Neck hurts worse. Wake up with 2 out of ten pain. By days end pain is a ten out of ten. Been prescribed opiates, they do Nothing for the pain. What should I do? I am totally useless . Only extended bed rest helps.
Avatar n tn ve had headaches but now at my age it has progressed to shoulders hurting, pain in arms, hands asleep, horrible neck pain. I found a neurosurgeon in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and am presently taking steroid injections in the neck. I've had 2 and going on 3 Thursday (3 days from now). Each time I seem to feel worse.
1714202 tn?1352672419 Hi, well I'm 20 and I've been having chronic neck pain since I was 3 years old when I stress fractured my neck. I have also been in 2 car accidents that have resulted in whip flash twice and a concussion twice. Well I recently saw a neurologist and was told that I've got arthritis, nerve damage, and my cervical spine is now straight where it should be curved. I just got trigger point injections done 2 days ago and I got 10 shots.
1380526 tn?1292839385 Anyone have their neurosurgeon suggest occiptal nerve pain injections at the original surgery site? I am having a TERRIBLE recovery from my decompression a year ago amd wondered if this helped anyone? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I just read your 11/13 comment and I have only one thing to say about Botox in the neck...NEVER AGAIN! I had 4 injections and not only did I have the worst head and neck ache but landed in the hospital from severe dehydration from "going from both ends". I hope I never get that sick again. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that it helped but I wasn't one of them. I sure hope you are feeling better by now.
Avatar f tn You mentioned you see a rheumatologist, What kind of treatments does he provide you to relieve nerve pain to your neck, back or both? Have you exhausted neurologist, orthopedic surgeon or neurosergeon treatment or suggestion for surgery? I ask because I get ESI (epideral steroid injections) every 2 weeks until I complete 6 treatments. They help but I am in pain again about 1 week after injection date.
Avatar f tn I had both an Occipital Nerve Block and Trigger Point Injections that were done in upper cervical area done last Wednesday(Feb. 3rd). I literally have felt no difference. The only big thing/feeling that's happened since then was a major neck flare up (it was very harsh- neck felt like a swollen brittle tree trunk that I truly wanted to rip out. It hurt reaching about a 9/10 kind of flare up). But I literally have had NO change, cannot tell one difference since the shots.
Avatar f tn I can tell when I get muscle spasms in my back and legs but for last few days have had a feeling on the back of my neck like someone hung a 20# purse around it and I had to lug it around all day.......... Trying to decide if its MS spasms or what. It comes and goes, this time, its been here for a few days, and eventually it will go away, to come back again. My usual pain med/spasm med cocktail doesn't touch it, nor does Aleve or my other goodies.
Avatar f tn Last 4-5 months pain has spread (for lack of a better word) to lower neck, right shoulder. Head MRI was completed 14 months ago after fall in football endzone (long story). 3 years of occipital nerve blocks - 3-4 months of 100% relief. Nerve blocks are ineffective as of July 2010 at which point I was referred to a pain specialist (anesthesiologist).
Avatar f tn Chronic neck pain is difficult to treat. You describe everything you sould have with neck pain, cracking, popping, difficulty sleeping. You really need to back to the doctor and start over if he dosen't respond to this then maybe find another docotor.
Avatar f tn The problem that I have now is that the subs are no longer helping my pain. I have had injections and steroids by mouth with no relief. Should I ask my doctor to switch me back to normal pain medication? I have never abused my meds or have addiction issues.
Avatar f tn That article that you referenced only talked about how neck pain is more common with migraines than nausea. No where does it reference Verpamil or discuss why the medication could stop neck pain. The following article : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verapamil references that Verpamil also has been used to treat headache clusters, but still gives no information about how or why it would stop neck pain altogether. It does talk about how the Verapamil dilates the blood vessels.
