Avatar n tn I have alot of neck pain it also goes into the base of my head and across my shoulders. I had an xray & the report reads- slight reversal of normal lordotic curvature. Degenerative disk narrowing and end-plate osteophyte formation C4-C5, C5-C6.No obvious frature or subluxation. What does this mean. What options are there. I've done P.T. and Chro. not much help. My neck has continued to give me problems. I wake in night and in the am, I can not turn my head.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Bone spurs are common in spine due to osteoarthritis, resulting from chronic pulling of ligaments over long time. Usually spurs form at facet joints, causing back or neck pain due to inflammation of facet joints and nerve irritation. EMG, NCV to exclude peripheral nerve compression, xray spine for arthritic changes and bone spur CT / MRI if any missed details on x rays.
Avatar f tn Has anyone found relief from bone spurs in the neck with the injections or physical therapy? If so, does it help the headaches that accompany it? How about surgery? Any success with that? I'm desperate for help. I can't go on this way. The neck and head pain is terrible.

Avatar n tn basically says that bone spurs are pressing on the spinal cord causing pain. A few words and their definitions are below. I hope this helps. Wish they would write these things in plain English!
Avatar n tn My xrays revealed a bone spur and dislocation of disc, tomorrow (01/19/08) I am having an MRI. I am in alot of pain mostly from the bone spur affecting the nerves in my neck. I have lost most of the mobility in my left arm and the muscle spasms are getting worse. Is there alternative tratments other than surgery for this condition. My docter is already suggesting surgery for the bone spur. I am really scared.
Avatar f tn i woke up yesterday with a pain on the right side of my neck; I do have bone spurs. Last night it has progressed to sharp shooting pains to my ear and top of my scalp (I cannot even touch my hair). Advil doesn't work nor did Fioricet. Can the bone spurs in my neck be causng this problem .. I did lift some heavy boxes the other day and that night it started to act up. I am in a lot of pain so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Ever heard of people having bone spurs in their feet? well, this is like that. they irritate the tissues around them and the nerves. Since it is in your neck consider it like water running down stream. Your brain is the pain center..it receives signals from different areas of your body. and when the neck is involved it can hurt in odd places from your shoulders, arm, face, jaw, head, ears..does this help any?
Avatar n tn s still a good idea to talk to her doctor and have a MRI of the cervical spine. As people get older, they can develop bone spurs on the neck, which can press against a nerve. Also, the discs will start to wear out and that will cause problems too. I'm 35 and I had bone spurs removed from my spine when I had a spinal fusion due to a herniated disc. A lot of my migraines start at the base of my neck due to my cervical problems.
Avatar n tn I have the same (well similar I cannot say the same without a professional comparison) cervical disks that are damaged and I also have bone spurs. It started with headaches and I went to a pain clinic in hot springs ar.(on Carpenter Damn Road) with x-rays and the doctor said the pain was probably coming from the nerves in my neck and that could be what was causing the headaches.
Avatar m tn did see doctor did mri said clot small but my neck and right arm hurts more than before surgery now he wants a myleogram he aslo told me before surgery i had 2 bad disk on c56 andc67 then after surgery said it was 2 bone spurs after surgeryb pain was gone for 2 weeks then i lifted my right arm and something felt like it tore and cracked then all pain came back

Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me what treatments or solutions there are for bone spurs in my neck? I only got the results to my MRI yesterday. My doctor appt. isn't until Jan. 8 so I haven't talked to him yet. All I know is that his nurse called and told me that's what I have and he wants to discuss it with me then. I'm just worried about what he may want to do. I'm so sick of the pain and headaches that sometimes I don't care what they do. Then again, I'm chicken!
Avatar f tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Back--Neck/how-big-is-big-for-bone-spurs-in-the-neck-/show/1900371">how big is big for bone spurs in the neck </a> was started.

Avatar n tn I have had neck surgery and had 3 herniated disc with my spinal cord compressed 3/4 of the way off. Should you have a MRI done if it has been 9 years? I wake up with my hands numb and pain in my neck from time to time. I have alot of spasticity from my injury and I can't relax. My muscules stay working all the time with no relax time. I'm tired almost all the time from this. I also had some bone spurs that they said I still have.
1458799 tn?1328757528 My humble opinion in your case is that the neck pain is primarily from your bone spurs, related to how you explain the pain. The dizziness is probably related more to the anxiety. That being said, both symptoms can be exacerbated by the other. You get neck pain, it makes you anxious, which causes dizziness. You get dizzy, which causes more anxiety, muscle tension...with a result of more neck pain. See? It's just a theory, but that's my guess. Kalie made some great suggestions.
Avatar f tn Wow, I just had my MRI done on my upper lumbar last week and found the same thing going on but with my C3-4 and 5-6 disc with the stenosis and bone spurs. But I allway's thought it was from my wife being a pain in my neck but now I know better lol but yes I do have a lot of the same things going on as do you with this DDD.
Avatar f tn In my case, I had bone spurs in my neck prior to surgery. After surgery, I was diagnosed with bulging discs, and eventually one of them herniated. I also have increased arthritis, which is common after surgery on any joint. You may want to speak with your NL about these possibilities, as the bone spurs can produce a popping sound when the neck moves, and arthritis may be treatable with anti-inflammatory meds. Wish you the best!
Avatar f tn I too experience neck pain and spasms on right and left side if I over exert my right side. I will also have numbness, tingling and shooting pain down right arm into hand especially thumb. I have pain down my spine and allover my shoulder and shoulder blade. I have fibromyalgia and had an MRI done was told that I have bone spurs on the c6 and c7 vertebrae.
Avatar n tn I have a physically demanding job. I have neck, shoulder, arm, and upper back pain. I have been on pain meds for years. How bad do I have to get before I can get put on disablity. I've been told I have artritis and bone spurs.
Avatar f tn Per x-ray taken as follow up of neck fusion, it shows there is no bone growth, been wearing for 4 hours every day a neck bone growth collar, taken vitamin D everyday, eating health, increase in amount of food that contains calcium. At tens after the surgery, there no bone growth. Surgeon wants to do another surgery now is going to be a plate in the back of my neck...he wants to wait to see what will be the outcome of liver problem. Does anybody had an opinion or suggestion.
Avatar n tn A number of possibilities occur, generally involving problems with the neck and its bone structure, musculature, and nerves. For example, nerve compression in the neck due to neck trauma, cervical disk problems, or nerve root problems could cause the pain and numbness you're describing. But without a proper workup it's impossible to say. I suggest you have this looked at by your doctor, and/or a neurologist.
Avatar m tn I have disk problems with C4 and C5 in my neck with bone spurs and I am thinking about a epidural shot in my neck...Has anyone ever had one in their neck? if so did it work?
