Neck and shoulder pain while pregnant

Common Questions and Answers about Neck and shoulder pain while pregnant

neck

They increased the neurotin and have no luck so far. Drowsy, dizzy and in pain. I just seen a rheumatologist and he seemed like a dip and treated me like nothing was wrong with me and that I would need a second opinion anyways, because he didn't think that he could help me. He sent me to have lab work, I am talking at least six vials full. So my question is there anyone out there that has had something similar to what I have going on and if they have received any help?
like it hurts to turn my neck or move my right shoulder. Is there anything they can do while I'm pregnant or do I just need to wait to go after the baby's born? Since this pain came I have a knot on the back of my head now too..
NOTICE IT SAYS RIGHT... Stomach and/or Right Shoulder Pain This type of stomach pain, called epigastric pain by the medical profession, is usually under the right-side ribs. It can be confused with heartburn, gallbladder problems, flu, indigestion or pain from the baby kicking. Shoulder pain is often called referral pain because it radiates from the liver under the right ribs. Lower back pain is different from muscle strain common to pregnancy. It is usually more acute and specific.
prescribed hydrocodone/APAP , and when I went to have the baby , of course tested positive for this medication and CPS came and took my kids. How Crooked is this ?
I'd lay down and get a heating pad for your neck and shoulder to help loosen up those muscles. Every now and then stretch your neck a little bit but do not over-extend it. Just stretch it as far as it will go in all directions.

I'd been having pain between my shoulder blades for about 1 a month and a half and at first thought it was muscle spasms as I've had spasms before and therefor took mega doses of Advil and ignored them. In that 6 weeks I experienced 3 episodes of extreme pain. The first was while getting into bed and the pain was extreme enough that I thought it was a heart attack. I ignored it, stretched, and it started to go away.
I also have this horrible flank pain and it is only during sleep and waking from sleep, pain is so awful that its difficult to roll over and get out of bed. I am a 34 yr old female. I have had numerous tests and nothing has been found. It feels like it is exactly coming from my kidneys and radiating around the front stomach area under both ribs. My doctor is at his whits end and has recommended that I see a chiro and seek out pain management or nerve block.
The pain finally diminished, but about a month later it started in my right neck. The pain now runs all the way down my neck and into my shoulder and right chest a bit. It especially hurts if I apply pressure to my pulse(Carotid artery). It feels like inflammed nerves or something. So, I went back to another doctor and he gave the same diagnosis. He said unfortunatley the cause is unknown. Now I am on a stronger anti-inflammatory. I just want to know the cause so it won't come back.
gulf syndrome is suspected result of exposure to dust particles of depleted uranium ammo-'hot' armor piercing weaponry used extensively in the first and present war..also deployed military personel were innoculated for anthrax and this has potential sx's according to some researchers(some women of childbearing age refused, were initially charged then were discharged without penalty-i live near Ft. Drum-Army 5th mountain division)...
I have constant pain on the left side of my neck, shoulder and arm. Also on both sides of my neck and base of skull from some herniated discs and DDD. It's possible the under-the-shoulder blade pain is also caused by a disc herniating and irritating a nerve but it feels different to me.
About two years ago I had burning pain in my neck shoulder and arm. Went to an Orthopedic and a neurologist. It was determined that I had a pinched nerve in my neck area. I went for therapy for two months and was given exercises and a device to hang in if I had problems. About a month ago the burning started again in the shoulder and upper arm area. I have been exercising and using my hanging device, but the burning and pain continues.
Today is 24th Dec 2009, and two days ago i developed the same symptoms as described, Pain in left shoulder when breathing. I have a good bill of health and workout regularly and do not suffer from shortness of breath only the pain in the left shoulder which is currently a 3-4 out 10 (so bearable). I just put it down to indegestion and it started on my left side and lasted for a couple of hours while i slept and now its only in my left shoulder.
A chest x-ray wouldn't show nerve impingement & a disc bulge would have to be large to see on any basic x-ray. Most people that use computers have their neck curved for hrs. & then get this shoulder pain. I used a microscope yrs ago & had to take breaks to neck stretch from similar problem. That was before computers were around. Only way to really dx is to have a Cervical mri.
You're not alone in taking medication while pregnant. I am posting a link to the information as it's a PDF and it seems a little complicated to cut and paste. (lazy, lol) http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/content/85/5/1074.full.
The compression of the median nerve can cause pain all the way up to the neck and is not relieved by pain meds because it is nerve pain. I finally caved in and decided to have carpal tunnel release surgery in the right hand (even though the doctor said it was well advanced and may not relieve the pain in my arm if there is damage to the nerve). I am happy to say that the pain in my upper arm and the numbness in my hand is completely gone!
I do have a gallstone and have experienced the lower right side pain and nausea plus the shoulder blade pain but this right upper side pain is new to me. I have been terrified of pulmonary embolism or something but I think it must be either gallbladder related or stress related. The only other thing I can think of is that I started a new fitness regime and overdid it a bit for the first time. I ended up a few days later with a terrible lower backache which lasted about a week.
Listen i had know idea how easy you can get hooked on these things, I was hurt real bad at work in early 04 I kept telling my doc that i didnot want all these pain pills, as i too once had a drug problem very hard durgs, and he talked me into using them the way he perscribed, I just stoped taking the suboxone 6 days ago and still going thur w/d.
The pain stretches from my shoulders and neck to my waist and even my legs and in my hands too; the pain can last for up to 15 mins. It is so bad I have to stop everything I'm doing to deal with the pain. I even had to pull over once while driving because it was so painful. I don't know what to do and could really use some answers, can it get any worse?!?
I quit going when I got pregnant for the third and final time and the pain has gotten much worse. My pain is caused from my posture and it is muscular. I have all these knots all in the area between my shoulder blades and my spine, all up and down my back. While I was pregnant a perk of my insurance was physical therapy 3 times a week and massages, but after I quit going the pain is back worse than ever and in more places. It is in my left chest muscles bad.
It is unhealthy if you are in constant stree and are unable to relax due to pain of headaches. I am now 8 months pregnant and well and the same thing has happend, he is always moving and very healthy so I wouldnt strees yourself out to much girl!
At first it hurt just in my bicep area of my left arm but now the pain radiates down to my elbow and up into my shoulder and neck. My shoulder is starting to crack and pop and when I lift my arm up to put a shirt on I am in excrutiating pain! I can't sleep at night because I sleep on my left side and I am trying to avoid sleeping on my arm. When I first wake up I can barely lift my arm. Heat helps ie: heating pad, hot baths, etc. as well as advil.
But then I started having arm pain (including elbow) and top of shoulder and down shoulder blade---just left side. I find out tomorrow from the DO at the Orthopedic office what the recent MRI results really mean. My neurologist assistant looked at the report yesterday and said my problem is not from the M.S. I took that news with a bit of gratefulness because I know what to expect. With this, I don't know, if indeed it is herniation at C5/6.
plastic surgery in July (breast reduction and tummy tuck; high blood pressure and I am hypoglecemic. My PCP states he heard something in my neck and has ordered a Caritoid Ultrasound but I am concern that this is not my problem and it is something we are missing. I am having a low grade headache;some low grade burred vision; dizziness when turning over in the bed and some facial pain behind my eyes. Please tell me if we should be looking at other things.
The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 10 to 30 times while driving. Not for pregnant women. The full set of exercises, described in my March 17, 2010 post, will help to reduce this sleepy problem over the long term and amke you healthy.
I had a mri today of neck and spine with and without contrast and will be following up with neorolagist. My symptoms haven't been to bad lately ive been trying to avoid the things that may trigger my arm pain and numbness. Ive just been having headaches and my vision seems to be getting worse everything is very blurry.
that explains so much!! i am so glad i came here and tried to figure out what was happening to me, it has been happening to me since i can remember. it does get scarry at times but now that i know what it is i will try not to be scared. sometimes (a while ago) this would happen and i could "see" (even thought i was still laying in bed) my whole room and i was sitting in the same room as my "body" and my grandmother was with me.
Migraines which I personaly never really experienced up untill 2 years ago and now I get them pretty often,Sleep apnea if you read about it you will understand why, burning pain at the top of your back, chest tightness, jaw pain, neck and back pain and many other symptoms.I have experienced everything they talk about and many other things which could quite probably be linked to this problem and I am quite sure this Fizzy thing could be linked also.
