587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
Avatar f tn especially, natural progesterone (made from natural mexican wild yams that mimic progesterone). You can also speak to a pharmacist from a "compounding pharmacy" to see what there may be in terms of your history. Better yet, speak to your doc about this idea. I've also heard that Black Cohosh and a few other herbs from healthfood stores (NOT Red Clover as I believe but, could be wrong that it stirs up estrogen).
Avatar n tn Maybe you could check a book on natural remedies -- I think I did see one specifically about natural remedies for menopause symptoms a while back. It kind of was tough to read (who wants to believe these things are really going to happen?) but it seems like I remember it talked about foods and supplements and stuff.
Avatar f tn You can also use a good, over the counter cream, I am talking about Progesterone by the way, it will help to alleviate the estrogen dominance and get those hormones back in balance. Hardly anyone needs extra estrogen, our bodies still make it even after menopause, just not as much, the progesterone will use what your body makes and help balance it out, there is no cancer risk with natural hormones either, with synthetic, that is a different story.
Avatar n tn I also read another article that said that the only symptoms that are proven to be linked to menopause are hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Some real natural remedies for these are mint (in a tea, bath, or body lotion) and some people have said that eating soy products, leafy greens, and and whole grains while cutting back on red meat and simple carbs (white bread and pasta, white rice) has worked well. And it can't hurt to eat better anyway....
Avatar n tn I was told that I could NOT take over the counter supplements for menopausal symptoms. They believe that my masses were estrogen receptive...that means no soy, no black cohash, etc as they all "mimic" estrogen.
Avatar n tn I have never tried natural hormones or synthetic hormones, and I'm going through menopause now. I experience extreme irritability, but not anxiety in particular. Because of the potential side-effects of any hormone "bioidentical" or otherwise I choose to just take the natural route. I know that physicians would disagree with my choice, but for me personally, I just think that when the body says "I'm on a new journey" we should listen to what our bodies say.
458072 tn?1291415186 I have been trying some natural supplements for peri menopause symptoms. Has anyone had success with it? I am feeling a little bit better. I don't want to stay on this for 3 months and then find out it does not work. I have heard various things about this. I am wondering, or should I just quit trying and go for the Rx treatment. Thanks.....
Avatar f tn If you are prone to cancer, the natural way is the only way to go, estrogen makes cancer cells grow, the progesterone, does not. Also, I recommend two very good books by Dr Lee, a pioneer in natural hormones and women's health. One is called "What you doctor may NOT tell you about menopause" and the other is called "What you doctor may NOT tell you about perimenopause" they are great books and easy to understand.
Avatar f tn Studies have shown that some antidepressants can help with symptoms of menopause, but some of them come with their own set of side effects. I also have estrogen receptor positive ovarian cancer, and take an aromatase inhibitor. It kept me stable for two years, but recently a new mass was found and I'll find out more next week. Unfortunately, I haven't found a good way to deal with surgical menopause, and mine was 5 1/2 years ago.
476246 tn?1418870914 Because of rapidly declining estrogen levels, the hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and atrophy caused by chemotherapy-induced menopause may be more severe than the symptoms with natural menopause. As with natural menopause, the vaginal symptoms can lead to difficult or painful intercourse and sexual dysfunction. The psychological symptoms associated with premature menopause appear to be the same as the symptoms associated with natural menopause.
Avatar n tn The natural end of every woman’s reproductive life is menopause. The standard treatment for menopause used to be hormone replacement therapy (HRT); however, many women and healthcare providers are no longer routinely asking for or prescribing traditional estrogen replacement therapy because we now know that traditional HRT using synthetic progestins and estrogen increases the risk of heart disease and breast cancer.
Avatar f tn Hi. You seem really young for menopause. :>) (that's a good thing!). I'd be more inclined to think you may have a hormonal imbalance. A big one that causes spotting like this is too much progesterone production. I was having all sorts of period issues and my ob/gyn did blood work on me. Found out I was making too much estrogen naturally. My symptoms were opposite of yours, no periods. But my sister had similar to what you describe and she had too much natural progesterone.

Avatar f tn For instance, we can load up on products that stimulate estrogen (such as soy and other herbal preps) which can upset a balance needed between estrogen and progesterone. During menopause, both levels drop but, progesterone drops the most. So, while our estrogen levels fall by a certain percentage, our progesterone may drop far more.
Avatar f tn Do they even have over-the-counter estrogen? Mine (for IVF purposes) was all by prescription.
Avatar f tn I did have irregular periods due to a higher than average level of estrogen. I'm sure they did blood work that showed that? If not, that's easy to do. I also had thyroid issues and combined, those two factors made me have periods every 3 to 4 months! Such a pain that was! I was in my 20's though so wasn't worried about menopause like I would be now. For whatever reason, women with high levels of estrogen are MORE likely to have candida or yeast overgrowth.
Avatar n tn At your age, you are still likely to experience symptoms related to abrupt menopause, rather than the more gradual tapering off of hormones associated with natural menopause, but probably not as severe as they would be for a woman in her 30s. (This varies from person to person, however.) As you are probably aware, there is an association of increased risk for BC in menopausal women using combination HRT (estrogen and progesterone), esp. for lobular cancer.
14774527 tn?1436560759 Your symptoms could be an indication that you are going into menopause or that your ovary is failing completely. The ovaries of women who are in natural menopause produce hormones up to at least age 80. Hysterectomy can cause an earlier menopause or complete ovarian failure. Having your hormone levels checked may be helpful (estradiol and FSH). Estrogen deficiency is associated with a number of increased health risks along with some debilitating symptoms.
Avatar f tn I understand your fear as I never want to take any HRT when the times comes as I have been on them for 7 yrs for Endometriosis and just recently came off it. Sleeping is the hard thing. I have that issue as well. Have you tried Valarian before? Anyways these are just my suggestions as I am not a doctor just a person who has dealt with major hormone issues since I was 15. I am 34 now.
1472677 tn?1330175915 s since then. Not one has given me any answers about after care. I am on Estrogen (low dose). My estrogen level is still low along with all the factors. I am having stoach pain, my skin is wrinkly, vaginal dryness, cracked nails, a lot of back pain, night sweats, I am pale all the time, sex forget it for the pain is unbearable, urin sprays all over, depression, mood swings and a lot more....Is there any advice out there for me reguarding what to do?
Avatar f tn There is a gynecologist here in Canada who is world-reknown for using biodentical (natural) hormones. He used to be the head gynecologist at the Toronto hospital for many years. He is totally against HRT because of the dangers involved. He told me that if your estrogen levels are high, this increases your cortisol, which causes anxiety and tachycardia (fast heart beat).
