Avatar f tn My doctors believe there is a vascular component underlying all of these endocrine problems, and have collectively suggested Churg-Strauss vasculitis. This is because I have had several instances of very pronounced eosinophilia (blood and tissue biopsy) over the last couple of years, weight loss, unexplained neuropathies, intermittent episodes of lower GI bleeding, intermittent pancreatitis and gall bladder dysfunction, rashes, very high fevers, joint and muscle pain, etc.
312330 tn?1245176752 the granulomas may be due to a secondary infection related to the steroids and not directly the churg-strauss Churg-strauss and other types of vasculitis can cause acalculous cholecystitis and prompt the need for cholecystectomy. While on prednisone you are immunosuppressed which might impede the production of protective or diagnostic hepatitis antibodies. how about medications such cellcept or azathioprine as steroid-sparing agents?
Avatar m tn have you discussed churg strauss syndrome with your physician?
Avatar n tn Persistent high Eosinophilia (27%-48%) for more than six months, tingling in extremities, shooting pains in hips and joints, migrating ground glass opacities in the lungs as well as lung granulomas, lung nodules, sudden onset Asthma and focal necrosis of the colon with eosinophilic infiltrates through all levels of the mucosa. Before being put on Steroids by my Rheumatologist, I was sent to an Infectious Disease expert.
Avatar f tn This can also be found in disorders such as multicentric Castleman disease, allergic disorders, Churg-Strauss syndrome, sarcoidosis, and a large number of other conditions. It is best that you discuss the results with your attending physician for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with allergy induced asthma (which I am still not certain I have). The Doctor gave me Albuterol, (which helped, but I was using it too frequently), they tried other inhalers which seemed to cause worse effects than the asthma. So my doc gave me Singulair which immediately helped me to breath. Since children were given this I felt it's probably ok to take. After only 3 days my feet started to tingle, my hands and then my legs.
Avatar f tn I have looked into churg strauss syndrome. Do you think this could be what is going on? Still going through testing, but I would just like to get some other fresh perspectives.
Avatar f tn It was actually the first major symptom I developed. Their is also the more serious but rare, Churg Strauss which I was worried about at first but testing ruled it out for me. With all the research I have done over the year, just going over other peoples symptoms and what they go through with autoimmune disease I find ALOT suffer with asthma as well.
312330 tn?1245176752 I'm 26 and have Churg-Strauss Syndrome, for which I'm on high daily doses of prednisone. I also suffer from terrible insomnia...granted I had insomnia before I was ever diagnosed with the CSS. I know that prednisone can cause sleep issues, and I really need to get some sleep. I also have ADHD. I've tried trazadone with mixed results. I currently take Prednisone, Qvar, Foradil, Zantac and Adderall.
920032 tn?1550680156 i have been on 7.5 mg of prednisolone for 19 years because of asthma, churg strauss syndrome and probs with adrenal glands. often in times of stress much higher doses. now i am burnt out and have to come of f the steroids. since january i have weaned off slowly without to much distress, however i am now on 5mg and finding it difficukt to maintain. my main problems being sneezing, wheezing, lots of mucus. not geting usual symtoms of asthma i. e. shortness of breath.
5468358 tn?1368464832 I saw a neurologist last week, he is sending me for a MRI on my back and neck, and a EMG. They are calling me the mystery women because they don’t why my Eosinophils went up so high. I know Eosinophils in rare cases can cause tingling and numbness from nerve damage, the neurologist told me I might have more tingling and numbness as I come down on the prednisone. If I do, he told me to stright to the ER. I am still on 20Mg until I go back for blood work to insure my eosinophils are still down.
Avatar f tn My hands/feet have become swollen and my joints hurt more than before I started taking the Humira. I also have systemic vasculitis (Churg-Strauss Syndrome) and am on Cytoxan and Prednisone, but I have been taking both for more than a year and know the side-effects from each. I am looking to see if anybody else has had the same happen to them or if they know what could cause this reaction with Humira.
Avatar n tn I have had umpteen blood tests done over last 6 years and esr and crp and blood counts always normal except for last one wich showed high eosinophils so now being checked for churg strauss but if it comes back negative has anybody else any ideas, thanks paolo:-)

Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm trying to find out what's causing all of my symptoms. I have chest pain, eye pain & burning, skin rashes (sometimes painful), fatigue, sinus pain, headache, left ear ache, shortness of breath, occasional sore hands and feet, loss of appetite, and weight loss (no complaints with this sign). I have a history of asthma, allergies, IgA deficiency, mild chronic sinusitis, high lipoprotein (a), and mild tricuspid regurgitation.
Avatar f tn CSF is cerebral spinal fluid ( I think you had a typo and really meant CFS anyways right? ). Churg Strauss vasculitis is CSV which is quite rare and I doubt what you are talking about. Almost all of us get hhv 6 when we are kids - it's more commonly known as roseola. Every couple of years they find a new virus to blame chronic fatique syndrome on ( EBV is still a fav ).

Vitamin B12 and B6 deficiency, as well as excess vitamin B6, can also cause neuropathy. Some toxins, such as lead, arsenic, and thalium can cause large fiber sensory neuropathy. Other causes include abnormalities of protein metabolism, as in a type called amyloidosis or monoclonal proteinemia.
