I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.
Ive been prescribed with montelukast sadium and chlorphenamine maleate when i was not yet pregnant.. now that im 5wks pregnant im not sure if i could still tkae those meds..

With the recent Black Box warning:
"Feb. 27, 2009 -- The FDA has ordered a "black box" warning, the FDA's strongest warning, for drugs that contain metoclopramide, which is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders.
In my opinion, taking a drug which cures me, even though it has a black box warning, is a whole lot better than avoiding that drug and ending up in a pine box six feet under instead.
However, one might be surprised at the drugs that have black box warnings. Many are very commonly taken and no one thinks twice about it.

My son has been under the care of a paediatric specialist since he was 2 and was thought to be asthmatic (this wasnt an official diagnosis but a feeling by his doctor) so and was prescribed a bunch of different medication including Salubutomol inhalers, beclamethasone, cetirizine hydrochloride, montelukast, nose sprays like flucticanose, and also the atrovent inhaler. I have been to several ENT specialsits but all of them prescribe me nasal sprays and a montelukast tablet at night which really doesnt help.
Symptoms:
1. Constant thick white jelly mucus feeling like its coming from the back of my nose.
2. Balance issues : kind of like swaying motion.

Hi, welcome to the forum, methotrexate is quite an effective drug used in cases of rheumatoid arthritis. The detailed drug interaction with montelukast is not been reported or extensively studied. We take it as no harmful effects reported yet. Yes you can take combination but after consultation from your doctor.
