ibuprofen

Avatar m tn Naproxen is an NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), along the lines of Motrin (ibuprofen). It can be rough on the tummy, and is usually not recommended in people who have a history of a GI Bleed, bleeding ulcers, etc. Read more here: http://www.drugs.com/naproxen.
Avatar f tn Can Ibuprofen cause dizziness, ear pain, stuffiness, and feelings of passing out if taken several times a week?
Business man2 1) At my age 69.5 and a daily dosage of 4 ibuprofen OR 3 naproxen, do I have to worry about kidney disease resulting from a "total lifetime dose" of ibuprofen/naproxen ?? 2) At recommended dosage and over a lifetime, does acetaminaphen have less potential to harm me than either ibuprofen or napproxen? 3) Is there a "total lifetime dose" concern for acetaminaphen? Thank you for answering questions in this forum !!
Avatar n tn Correct. Ibuprofen or Naproxen, but not both. One or the other. I find Naproxen the most helpful, as it works more quickly. Aleve is a brand name for OTC Naproxen. Tyelenol is in a different category. Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) are the ones you want to treat inflammation. Aspirin is also in this class. Again, only use one form of these and not all of them.
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar m tn My pulse is exceptionally weak and my blood pressure is 156/90 after taking one (1) 500mg Naproxen and an amphetamine. I went and got my blood pressure checked, as well as my resting heart rate. The nurse never actually tried to feel my pulse, though. So I came home and I am very worried about how weak my pulse is. Has anybody heard weather or not taking Naproxen with an amphetamine can be harmful because it is not in the drug facts and I cannot find anything about it online either.
Avatar m tn whenever i take even one 550mg (naproxen) ibuprofen and then drink, my stomach gets tender and bloated and i feel bad. i usually take a maalox or something like that, yet i never throw up from it so i don't know if that's applicable for you. i think it is due to the ibuprofen, but if you're not used to eating spicy foods then it could have disagreed with you, not necessarily meaning food poisoning. you should never drink and take NSAIDs at the same time.
Avatar f tn Be really careful with all NSAIDS Ibuprofen and Naproxen are both NSAIDS. Mellie83 is right that they are hard on the stomach. I thought I was being careful in my use of the Naproxen the neurologist wants me to use on my migraines. I still ended up with gastritis. And, I already have GERD. You don't want to add gastritis to your list of problems when you're dealing with FMS already!
Avatar f tn I have Crohns Disease, I have read that NSAIDS are not a good thing to take. I'm having issues with my GI doctor. I have been trying to manage my symptoms of pain(sharp and throbbing) in my lower right and left side of the abdominal area. I asked my GI what to take and he said tylenol. I also asked if I could also take ibuprofen and naproxen sodium because tylenol isn't working well and he said yes, just not at once. This doesn't seem right. Am I wrong in this assumption?
Avatar n tn The first and second days of my period I get HORRIBLE cramps to the point where I want to vomit, can't walk, sleep or do anything. I try ibuprofen and it never helps. Is this normal?
963889 tn?1359677334 My girlfriend had an open biopsy on her kidneys and it showed ibuprofen caused the damage. Her doctor in Florida did some research on Ibuprofen and then did a report for the AMA. Ibruprofen (advil and etc) is the number one cause of kidney failure of over the counter products in the Nation.
Avatar m tn Hi last monday I had a toothache and took quite a few painkillers (ibuprofen mainly) and ever since I have been pooping blood, and last night I had what seemed to be a panic attack (unable to speak, rapid heartbeat, struggling to breathe) and now this afternoon my right eye bag has swollen and hurts every time I blink or close my eyes. Could all these thing be linked or are they separate matters? And should I consult medical advice or see if it all calms down?
Avatar f tn A Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen or naproxen can cause false positives for barbiturate immunoassays. Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_could_cause_a_false_positive_on_a_drug_test_for_barbiturates#ixzz286DyxPKp Soma (carisoprodol) is metabolized as a barbiturate and I've also heard zoloft can, as well. I have also just read that NSAID's such as ibuprofen and naproxen can give a 0.4% false positive rate.

Avatar m tn medications for pain relief, like acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, provide relief from arthritis pain.
1230912 tn?1273492770 Sorry I just had to vent a little because I already know I am going to be calling her in two weeks, I have a high tolerance to drugs and Aleve has never been better than Advil for me. I would rather stay on the ibuprofen but will give the naproxen a chance, maybe I will find it is better for some of the other inflammation I have? Thanks for listening to my vent!
Avatar f tn t suggest it. Ibuprofen is good but for me Naproxen (aleve) works best for cramps. Also those single use heating pads that are available in the first aid section of the pharmacy are awesome. They last for several hours. They are available specifically for cramps.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone - question - did any of you avoid taking ibuprofen (advil) between ovulation and when AF should arrive? I suffer from a lot of headaches and migraines and ibuprofen has always worked so well for my headaches. Tylenol hardly helps at all. Anyway, I've been finding it difficult during the 2ww. Should I be avoiding ibuprofen during that time?
Avatar f tn I have horrible menstrual cramps and the only relief i have found is ibuprofen, naproxen etc (Nsaids) but now i have developed stomach ulcers and gastro infections from it. So i I started taking paracetamol, and pretty high doses. But its not working. At all. What can i take for my cramps that works but are not nsaids? Not taking anything is not an option as I litterary wont be able to stand upright from cramps. I do take 80mg nexium a day. Thanks in advance for any help!
1383753 tn?1279389003 Dr Brown, thanks so much after I posted this question I remembered my doctor prescribed Naproxen for me sadly I was out :-( but i found some Motrin ibuprofen in my first aid kit I took 4 (800mg total) and haven't had any pain since!!
Avatar n tn I'm a 29 year old male, I've been suffering from pain in my sternum for about 7 years now. It's almost crippling at times and I've been to dozens of doctors and specialists about it. The day it first started, I was diagnosed with costochondritis and sent home with a bottle of advil.
1839738 tn?1318548053 I feel a little better after opting for naproxen and a stronger ibuprofen dosis. I dont want to risk it. Thanks for the advice.
Avatar f tn I always thought Tylenol hurts liver and kidneys and aspirin/ibuprofen/naproxen hurts the stomach. I thought naproxen was in the group that hurt the stomach and stomach lining but, now, I'm confused because I stopped taking it and now the pain in my kidney seems to be letting up. Anyone else have this problem?
Avatar m tn t tell me not to take them. He tried putting my on Naproxen but told me to stop taking Naproxen after he looked at the blood test he gave me afterwards.
