Avatar f tn What other things could I be allergic to, or what other things could be exacerbating my allergy symptoms besides ibuprofen. Are people allergic to ibuprofen, allergic to what else? All my various allergy tests have come negative.
Avatar n tn Hello, The most common way to get rid of a stuffy nose in sinusitis is to use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. Avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. And obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray or saline nasal sprays.
Avatar f tn First of all I have Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, but Thank God I am in remission for 7 years. They are telling me I have chronic kidney disease, and have to avoid Ibuprofen. I am very careful what I take so as not to interfere with my Leukemia medication. I am feeling a little relief today. I was told by 3 doctors that I do not have sinusitis, and its just allergies. With everything I have to deal with, it all just gets to me sometimes.

Avatar n tn n your case the cause for sinusitis has been identified as allergy, as no other source is present. For persistent or severe allergies which do not clear off with regular treatments like antihistamines or topical steroids, allergy shots can be preferred. Allergy shots usually help in clearing these allergies and different modes are present in this treatment also depending upon the requirement and time frame which you choose to take allergy shots. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar m tn Use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. You can also OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or zyrtec for some days and see if they provide relief or not. Some chronic cases may need oral steroids or steroid nasal sprays and antibiotics. These can be taken only after prescription.
876847 tn?1240239287 Hello, Routinely vibramycin(tetracycline) is not prescribed for sinus infections as the antibiotics of choice for sinusitis are usually penicillins, macrolides, fluorquinolones or cepahalosporins. However if you want to take tetracycline antibiotics, then pls inform your PCP about it before taking it. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn Surgery is still recommended for polyps, but to remove infected mucus and the resulting chronic sinusitis in the upper sinuses, a Sinus Flush is more effective http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/2322 The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush is mildly risky, because you have to bend over to do it, preferably in a shower, but you can also do it outside on soft ground, or you can kneel down and lean over a bathtub, or perhaps a plastic basin or tub, with the shower running for steam.
Avatar m tn Chronic sinusitis, unspecified is the result....does this mean I can finally get relief and have an answer...5 months sinus pressure nose cheeks eyes...
Avatar m tn s when it can fester and become a secondary bacterial infection (bronchitis, sinusitis). For a cough, I use Delsom which is an otc cough suppressant. But coughs are usually actually a good thing as the reason for it is to move congestion through your system. Don't move it? That's again when secondary bacterial infections can happen. I personally take ibuprofen or tylenol, drink lots of nice tea, take my mucinex, maybe some honey and rest. That gets me through most viruses.
Avatar n tn For the clast couple of days I have had a strange pain at the top of my head, coupled with a feeling of dizziness and occasional nausea. When I touch the top of my head it feels tender, as it might if I had got it sunburnt (but I haven't). Although I do sometimes get headaches I haven't had one like this before, and it doesn't respond to pain killers either.
Avatar f tn The other possibilities are cervical nerve not compression, internal ear problems, dental caries, temporal arteritis, migraine, tension headaches and high blood pressure. In case you test negative for sinusitis you will need to explore these possibilities. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar f tn m 19 years old, F, and I work in a factory. I have good vision, but lately for about half a week my head has been hurting so bad. It started off with my eyes feeling heavy, then all of a sudden I woke up one day and noticed that it hurt to move my eyes side to side or up and down, even rubbing them hurts. It's been getting worse. I've tried ibuprofen thinking it was a headache and it does nothing. I'm not sure what to do, or what's causing it. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
