Mixing ambien with xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Mixing ambien with xanax

Avatar n tn I take the soma in the evening to take the edge off the pain, but I am worried about Mixing it with the oxy. I take the Xanax rarely so I'm not too concerned about that. I take the Ambien before bed to sleep, but I am afraid of Mixing this with the oxy. I called my Dr. this morning but they didn't call me back today. Does anyone know about Mixing these? I'm not talking about a large amout, one soma a night and one Ambien a night, and it would be with the 1 oxy I took at about 6 p.m.
Avatar n tn the norco u can stop..the Ambien if only after 2 nights u can stop...talk with ur physician and find an alternative that works..the seroquil mentioned above works for many with severe insomnia...Ambien will not help bad insomnia only occasional sleepless nights....and u never know which drug will hit ur "button" and cause u to abuse it...for me it is narcotics..for some benzos and others Ambien...
Avatar n tn It's addictive and when I stopped it suddenly I had a seizure a few days later so use with care. I think with the Ambien and Xanax you should be sleeping fine. There are some new sleep meds out there that may help you better.
Avatar n tn I went through withdrawals from Vicoden ES 4 weeks ago with the help of Xanax. Now, I am still taking 2mgs at night and maybe one more, if things get bad during the day. What are the withdrawals like? After withdrawals from codiene, I dread anymore withdrawals. My therapist seems to think that I can stay on Xanax for ever, but I don't like taking pills anymore. I want off of everything. What should I expect when cutting down?
Avatar n tn And very often, taking things like Ambien for a sleep problem is just a band-aid on a bigger problem, and when you stop taking the Ambien, the problem will still be there. You need to speak with your doctor about getting to the root cause of your sleeping problems.
Avatar n tn Melatonin should be fine to take with the Xanax, your body makes melatonin on its own to help you sleep but can only be produced during the dark phase (techy way to say it only gets produced when you're in the dark :) I've taken Xanax a little over 3 years, I take a few melatonin pills every once in a while to sleep.
Avatar n tn Slow tapers are the way to go .Keep incontact with your doctor .you can always go slower if you need too...
Avatar n tn 75mg 4x daily. I am now in counseling with someone I really have clicked with and we are tapering down my Xanax. I absolutely hate this drug, and my body certainly tells me when a dose is due. I am tapering down 1/8th a mg at a time. This is going to be a LONG process. Months and months.I have tried many times in the past to get off Xanax but couldnt get lower than 1.5 mg. Anyway the counselor put me on ativan (1mg) and said I can break it in half at first to see how I do.
Avatar n tn Xanax is a stronger, faster acting benzo. klonipin is a longer acting benzo and in my opinion not as strong. but then nothings working for me right now cept valium and even then i need large doses (like 40mgs at least) but my anxiety is from withdrawing from opiates and alcohol so i might not be the best person to answer this one. I do know that Xanax is one of the strongest benzos...
Avatar f tn Can you take an=mbien while on suboxone? I also take Xanax, not alot, to help ease the anxiety of w/d's. Im almost at day 3 and so far I feel good this time. I dont mean in the sense that i have no w/d symptoms, id defintiely do, but I feel like this time might actually be the one where i dont go back. Only time will tell I know but if this is as bad as it will get for me then i think ill be ok.
Avatar f tn nyquil, 2 OTC sleep aids, .5 mg Xanax and whatever sleeping pill (Ambien, lunesta, etc.) I had access to at the time. Yet all I really wanted to do was sleep. That's because I didn't want to face the day. One day I decided to sleep forever, and I started Mixing Xanax and alcohol, got wasted enough to do it, and pured about 50 Xanax down the hatch and kept drinking.
Avatar m tn Is there anything OTC I can take that would help with the withdrawals? I have access to Xanax and Klonopin to help with the anxiety and sleep issues, but what can I buy at the drug store, OTC, to help relieve the withdrawal symptoms? I tried to detox and was on day four without anything but couldn't take it anymore.
Avatar f tn Listen to what these smart people are telling you. Ambien is not the same thing as Xanax, but you have to be very careful, especially with young children in the home. It can really knock you for a loop. NOT a good idea. I think you should follow the advice the posters are giving you...the sleep WILL come back in time...and it's not like you aren't getting ANY. 2 hours isn't much, but it is something.
Avatar m tn Well first of all Im not sure that you should have been Mixing the Ambien and Xanax. Both are fairly strong stuff and because of that even short term use can cause rebound insomnia. Also quitting opiates will cause insomnia. So unfortunatly you will just have to suck it up if you want to get off of all of it. You wont sleep well for awhile but it will get better. Either that or take your Ambien at night and slowly decrease it.
Avatar m tn I was drinking 4-6 beers a night with up to 1-1.5mg Xanax and an Ambien just to sleep. I now realize the power of anxiety and how crippling it can be. Since stopping the alcohol I have been feeling a lot better, almost my old self. I have gotten back in the gym going 5 days a week running 2-3 miles a day and I have gotten more interested in my hobbies again. I still am taking 1 - 1.25mg of Xanax at night and an Ambien XR.
Avatar n tn Store Xanax away from light and heat. Xanax Side Effects Xanax side effects are usually temporary, and fade with continued treatment. Higher dosage also increases the risk of side effects. Operating automobiles or heavy machinery is not recommended while taking Xanax. Be aware of how this medication affects you before attempting any potentially dangerous activities. Common Xanax side effects: drowsiness, fatigue, light-headedness, or speech problems.
Avatar n tn If this person is already tolerant to the opiods then there is less of this side effect happening. Mixing Xanax with opiods and the sleeping pill is a dangerous combination, especially in high amounts.
Avatar n tn Ambien worked for me in 10mg. Not sure if the mg. go higher or if you can take more. I would ask your Dr. before taking more. I took it just before going to sleep as opposed to taking then brushing my teeth then watching the tube etc. It gave me at least 6 hrs. of good downtime.
Avatar f tn 5/500 strength) a day, with a daily shot of Dilaudid 4mg, and 1 mg Xanax at night with either an Ambien or Lunesta. I am awakened every morning with terrible anxiety, shaking, and arm and leg zinging. Tried to a couple of days ago to taper and didn't notice a change, either better or worse. Symptoms so bad this am, I took the Diludid, 2 Norco, and a percocet, and still having the same symptoms. I am so afraid, can you really get through these symptoms on your own cold turkey?
Avatar m tn Before I stopped taking everything recently from Oxycodone 30mg 5x a day, Xanax went from 2mg twice a day to 1mg twice a day also Dr changed me from Ambien to i believe its called Restoril because of all the issues going on with Ambien and finally Celexa 40mg once a day at bed that the Dr thought I needed but I believe my depression results from everything following my friggen accident! After 2-3 days I was so sick and my wife could see it I didn't hesitate going to the ER.
1208858 tn?1265923289 well my breathing got better and i went home...... took my Ambien and went to sleep,, got up with same feeling almost as bad called my dr. went there and they gave me a shot of benedryl in my hip and sent me home with a prescription of ativan... been trying to rest for hours left dr at 10 picked up ativan at 12 ish and its 3:53 p.m right now.. still nauseated and bad headache and little anxious feeling....
Avatar n tn sometimes Mixing a little Xanax with the Ambien hits more receptors and works well. trazadone helps many too. if you arent on tx. you may ask your dr. about rozerem a new sleep aid that is non hypnotic. it works on the melatonin receptors but is not melatonin i had to go to a sleep clinic after tx. as i never got back on the sleep track correctly. and treatment made me wired to boot.
Avatar f tn To the POINT I scared to take all this Meication together ( Even When My Own Doctor Wrote it Out ) ... I was also taking Ambien at night , along with Phenergan ... I did drop both of those medication's due to the fact im scared if I keep taking all these Medication's Im going to DIE ... I Keep seeing that CNS RESP deal ... It scares me , I do not want to OverDose on any Medication's or Anything Else ...
Avatar f tn some use Xanax or a benzo but they can be abused as well and are a bit more habitforming that Ambien...u have to use something safe for u which could be different for u than for me...i think u said u tried valerian root and melatonin....VR works for me when i have used it..melatonin makes me feel droggy in the am..gaba works good for me....phenergan works for me as well..it is an antihistamine in reality used for nausea..helps my sinuses and makes me slepp if i take just 1/2 of one I am fine..
199177 tn?1332183097 She had apparently had a couple of glasses of wine, then unable to sleep, took a Xanax, possibly two. Then later, still unable to sleep, she took Ambien, followed later by another one. None of these alone would normally be lethal, but the combination, mixed with the alcohol, proved to be the cause of an accidental overdose. She was taken to the ER the following morning unresponsive. This was not a suicide. Summer was not suicidal.
Avatar n tn You don't add Klonopin; you replace the Xanax with Klonopin. Since it's a longer-acting benzo it is a little easier to taper from than Xanax. If you cut your dose by 1/2 in a single week you're tapering way too quickly, I'd think. Why aren't you consulting with your physician about this? You can definitely make it through this, but you have to do it right and have some patience.
Avatar m tn Beyond, what you're doing is incredibly dangerous. If you're Mixing Xanax, Ambien and vodka, you may not wake up at all. Please try to find another way. You've been struggling for so long and it's obvious how much you want to quit but I don't understand why you're refusing to listen to the advice you've been given for some time now. I'm begging you - please PLEASE seek some professional help. Your way hasn't been working. Are you seeing a Dr. for the subs?
Avatar f tn Hi there & Welcome! :) First I want to congratulate you on reaching out & on understanding that you have a problem -- an addiction. You're certainly not alone & you're in the right place. Mixing oxys, Xanax & Ambien is a recipe for disaster. You say that 'for some reason I only snort them'.
Avatar f tn Thanks for sharing that with us. What a tragedy, I feel so bad for her family and friends.
Avatar f tn well it's been a few days with no Xanax. trying to taper off the vicodin. right now last 2 days only took one and thought I would do that for one more day then go to 1/2 for a few days and then try every other day. I have cut back on the alcohol as well. like I said reading these posts makes it very scary to think about going cold turkey.
