minocycline side effects itching

I've been taking mino for two weeks. My dermatologist prescribed it to me for my severe acne. Lately I started having an allergic reaction. My scalp, my palms in my hands, feet and my body started itching really bad. I feel like ants all over my body. I stopped now and took benadryl pills and it helped. So now, what am I going to do now to help fix my acne?! I don't like Accutane either coz I read bad side effects. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice.

I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. On wednesday morning I did take minocycline. The same day I reported to dr that I ma getting the itching and when I scratch it is turning into rash. But on wednesday night I did not get any itching or rash. Since wednesday night to until now I did not get any rash. I am wondering if the itch is because of the antibiotics.

sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.

There are many antibiotics and most have side effects that can be really bad. A lot of drugs on line are not even at the dose they say they are. Also, only some bacteria are sensitive to mnocycline or a particular antibiotic . You can't just take an antibiotic and expect it to work unless you know what bacteria you have and which antibiotics work for it and if that particular strain is resistant to start with.

I have no symptoms listed as side effects for this drug. Not alergic to penicilin or any drugs and never had any reaction to any medicine (worst ever was a slight stomach discomfort if taken on empty stomach and such). Started Minocycline 100mg 2x per day for suspected neuro Lyme and feel horrible. I know herx is possible, but feel more like I'm experiencing side effects, and wondering if I should switch abx. How long should I stick with this? Anyone have success with Minocycline? Do the side effects lessen with time?

Some people do much better than I did and expereince fewer side effects. I tend to be sensitive to meds and always have to read side effects of anything I take because I will get about half of them.

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. Hi andream5, my husband is finishing week 16 today, so he completed incivek about 4 weeks ago. I would say his side effects since finishing incivek include itching (no rash), fatigue, some weakness/shortness of breath, fatigue, dry mouth/metallic taste in mouth, and insomnia. I think that the symptoms he is experiencing right now (post incivek) are very similar/identical to the side effects he had with previous two treatments. For the itching, he takes Atavan.

t know much about Rebif but I have been on Copaxone for over a year. The side effects are redness, itching, stinging, swelling at the injection site. There isn't any problems with the liver that I know of. There are some reactions for some that include tightness of the chest, flushing. I chose Copaxone over the other DMD's due to the lack of side effects such as flu symptoms, liver function.. Good Luck in your decision!
