High powered lasers (Class IV) can be very dangerous and ineffective. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) are used to reduce pain and accelerate healing. You will often hear of these being used by professional athletes, Olympians and others who want a drug-free, effective, non-invasive safe solution without side-effects. Take a look at www.MultiRadiance.com for more information, studies and applications. LLLT may be an option for you.
He put me through some typical reflex tests and then felt some of the muscles in my calves, buttocks, etc. and he concluded that he thought my neuropathy was from myofascial pain. I disagreed, but, he still wrote me a script for minocycline (sp?) and said he would treat for six weeks, then reasses, treat for six more, then reasses. He said this would keep him out of hot water. Since I disagreed with the "not neuro" dx - he is sending me for an EEG.
I have had no rashes this time, like I did on minocycline. Now, this could be a good thing (much more comfortable) but it could be bad. Does this mean I'm not herxing and therefore not killing those buggers with the Doxy like I was on the mino? I had a few bumps crop up on my hands, but they were different than the hives I got with mino. I don't know if I feel any different, one way or another. I had a nerve conduction study today for my painful elbow.
and as far as the antibiotic, do a little research about minocycline and rheumatoid arthritis. i actually got some minocycline from my general doctor and took it for about a month and it definitely made a difference. i know it made a difference because i quit taking it for about a week and a half and i kind of flared up again. i'm taking it again and i plan to take it for a while and see how it does. i'll keep you posted. i also go back to the rheumatologist on monday.
1000 mg of Biaxin, 200 mg of Minocycline, Nastatin (to hold back yeast) 1500 Mepron (due to swallowing and jaw issues supposedly caused by babesia) and 1.2 million unit injection of bicillin LA every 3- 4 days. Along with this the neurologist I was seeing through Kaiser prescribed xanax 2mg a day and prozac 20-40 miligrams a day. During this time period I also weaned off of dilodid for pain which was about 4 miligrams a day (which I did not need anymore due to less pain).
My symptoms in detail are in my journal, but my main trouble is neuropathy in hands and feet and fatugue. I am lucky in that pain isn't my main problem. I have had several tests: MRI of neck and lumbar, GTT, B12, folate, anemia, EMG. The GTT revealed a pre-diabetic condition, EMG shows nerve damage to feet, but no nerve damage to hands. The most affected limb is my left hand. Its function is compromised.. So, next will be an MRI to the brain.
muscle cramps in calves, Ringing ear, muscle pains changes and can affect arms as well as vibration feeling in fingers. Left sided neuropathy. I am taking Teasel, Samento, LDN and waiting till I get back from vacation to start minocyclyne. Totally worried about vacation in hot Florida and how I will feel with Lyme issues??? What are your thoughts.. Thank you in advance for yout time...
I myself have been very successfully treated with low-dose minocycline for a strange condition called reactive arthritis, and more recently with doxycycline for rosacea. These are both disorders that are not caused by infection, but seem to be perhaps related to immune malfunction. One of the thoughts behind such therapy is that these particular antibiotics inhibit collegenases, substances that break down protein.
Confused and getting desperate,. I have a script for minocycline which I havent started yet as I am worried about taking too many drugs. I also take magnesium for muscle twitching which helps a little still get a weird rolling muscle feeling in legs. I guess I am wondering what others think of my situation this all started in November after a terrible gastro issue which was labeled Gastritis that lasted a month.
Then I was hospitalized shortly after that for extreme swelling in my legs and my skin on my legs turning black due to being toxic on Minocycline that I have been taking for adult acne for over 10 years, which I no longer take. Then about 2 years ago I was diagnosised with Hypoklemia (low potassium problems?) and take medication for that. All this came on about the same time of the eye problems and MG diagnosis. (all past history).---Over the last 2 yrs.
My first symptoms were sore throat, stiff neck, 24 hours later I got a burning in my lips, 48 hours later I started getting neuropathy and my lip buring got worse. 72 hours later my whole tongue caught on fire and was heavily inflamed, my whole lower face caught on fire and was inflamed, I panicked at that moment. Then I woke up that night and my whole brain caught on fire.
All 3 may be wrong too since most of the other doctors believe it is some sort of idiopathic neuropathy. p.s. I'm surprised that with all of the discussion of Lyme testing that the urine test gets so little discussion -- makes me think (and sincerely hope) that it is less effective than blood tests, otherwise LLMDs and IDs are both knuckleheads for not recommending this test to begin with. Any additional specificity would be greatly appreciated.
Hope it helps to figure out what is going on. . Although, it may not show up on an MRI if it is a neuropathy. They may have to just treat the symptoms.
I am taking samento teasel ldn and supposed to start minocycline. I just feel so exhausted with symptoms. Mainly the nueropathy pain. And all sorts of other weird sympoms. I had to cancel a vacation because I just don't think I can do hot weather. My igenex lab test came back with a Ton of bands but my more recent has come back with band 41 and 23 and a supposed past infection for babesia. But I guess I'm in Lyme denial and have diagnosed myself with everything as everything mimics each other.
HBI researchers recently found that an existing drug commonly used to treat acne – minocycline – may help patients with MS by reducing damaging inflammation in the brain. This pilot study led by Dr. Luanne Metz, professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, assessed whether oral minocycline prevented the development of new brain lesions caused by MS in ten people with active relapsing-remitting MS." http://medicine.ucalgary.
That’s why antibiotics are of limited value in treating acne. Minocycline, which is most commonly sold under the trade names Dynacin and Minacin, is the antibiotic most often prescribed in the United States. It causes vertigo (dizziness due to changes in fluid flow in the inner ear) in about 30% of children, teens, and adults who use it. When it is taken as a systemic treatment, in the form of a pill, it can kill healthy bacteria in the colon and cause diarrhea.
I am often wondering now if babesia is the cause of my neuropathy? I have tons of muscle pain rolling twtiching but the neuropathy is scary. I had a severe reaction last night like a thousand needles pressing in my hand and a shooting pain in my vaginal area. I know this is personal but it was bizarre to say the least. It only lasted a few minutes. My foot and hand are very numb and heavy feeling.
My Lyme specialist has me on Omnicef and Levaquin. Also he just put me on Minocycline but i have not started yet. I have to get some labs for military side done so I have to wait to start them. So after being on antibiotics for a month or two if i were to redo my IgM Western Blot. would it or should it show more positive? I need something to show positive enough that the military would acknowledge.
My friend uses those very low dose antibiotics, minocycline. It doubles to lower her immune system just a tiny bit and also clears her rosacea. Have you heard of these? Feel free to message me if you like. I can always ask her questions too.
I had all the basics of insomnia, fatigue, pain, then developed Raynaud's, vision problems, and in the next 4 years, lost my gallbladder, developed excessive arthritis, had a seizure, developed small and large fiber neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy, lost 110lbs for no reason, lost most of my hair, developed permanent chills...and then it hit my brain very seriously, and that is scary. After 4.
Mainly because I have Sarcoidosis, the same disease Trevor Marshall had when he discovered the cause of the disease. I'm currently on the Protocol, and am herxing on doses of Minocycline that most doctors would consider laughable. But that's because the MP's primary focus, and goal is to restore innate cellular immunity, when that happens it takes very little abx's to induce a herxheimer reaction. If you give a MP patient a standard dose of tetracycline's it could very well be fatal.

I have taken 5 different antibiotics for Lyme and various co-infections - each for several years including, but not limited to, Minocycline and Doxycycline. It is also not from a lack of trying alternative treatments either - some so ridiculous I can't believe I even tried them! To name a few (some more reasonable than others): hyper-barric oxygen therapy, Samento, MMS, and even the Rife machine!
I had been on doxycyline for a good year almost with no problems and then my doctor gave me a bottle of minocycline. After a week or two, I started to intensely itch, especially on my groin and scalp. I stopped taking the minocycline immediately...my hands and feet began to swell the next day. I told the doctor and took a round of Prednisone for one week. I ended up with itchy hives for a few days, but they eventually disappeared.
