Avatar n tn I am 28 and have had rosacea for about 1 year now. My skin is severely dry, tight and flaky. My cheecks are always extremely red. Rosacea sufferers are not supposed to use exfoliaters, so how am i supposed to get rid of the dry flaky skin? I cant use cover up because it only highlights the dead skin and i dont like going out in public with my skin all red and flaky. HELP. I dont want to take antibiotics. Does anyone know of any natural remedies?
Avatar n tn Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Sunscreens, particularly those that protect against ultraviolet A and B light waves and have a sun-protecting factor (SPF) of 13 or higher, are recommended for all people with rosacea. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for this and then decide the cause and further plan of management. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.

Avatar m tn Accutane induced rosacea is mentioned on various forums. This is quite an informative answer i came across on "The Rosacea Forum" - Rosacea from accutane? "Accutane/isotretinoin flushing is a big red flag that the body has had enough and isn't coping with the retinoic acid... Hives often indicate a serious drug reaction. The post-Accutane period is the most unknown.
Avatar n tn i have a two really big red rashes on either side of my mouth, my dermatologists said it was perioral dermititus. I was on doxy for 2 months, and then minocyline for 3 months, and still these red rashed are still there bigger than ever. just wanted to know if this red rash will go away ever, and do i need roaccutane again. Avatar n tn I have also been on antibiotics for almost two years for ocular rosacea and blepharitis. First Tetracycline, then Doxycycline and finally, for the last 10 months, minocycline which I know can in rare cases cause some type of liver toxicity. I have stopped the antibiotics and hope that clears up the problem. When or how long should I wait to start to be concerned? Thanks so much.
Avatar n tn Amitriptyline/nortriptyline,gabapentin/pregabalin,minocycline, and dexamethathone. Seeing a neurologist or Orofacial pain specialist who is familiar with management of nerve injury is advised.
Avatar m tn Hi, im peter i have bacterial infection in my mouth, i used MINOCYCLINE 100mg for past 2 day but yet not cured. i got it from online shop International Drug Mart This discussion is related to minocycline.
Avatar n tn Steroids aggravate perioral dermatitis, but the condition usually comes for no cause. If you go back on Minocycline or some similar antibiotic, you should clear up in a month. That should clear you up within a month. No need to go back on the pill. Also no need for chronic oral therapy. If the condition comes back at all, it probably won;t do so for years. Take care. Dr.
Avatar f tn I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, I have had Rosacea for a number of years. I don't know what Type it is but it is red pimples on my cheeks, occasional white heads but these are rare, and nose and Telangiectasia on my chin. I have been treated with Topical Finacea 15%. It has helped for a long time. But lately I am getting a lot more small pimples and peeling skin. I put Cetaphil Eczema calming cream on my face before putting on the Finacea and that has helped with the redness. But my skin still has been peeling.
Avatar f tn Here is a great article about food interactions with drugs sometimes used to treat Lyme and coinfections. I have been on a few of the meds listed in the artIcle, and I was unaware of these conflicts, especially dairy / calcium with the tetracyclines (Doxycycline, Minocycline) & fluroquinolones (Cipro, Avelox, Levaquin). It also mentions that caffeine, and therefore chocolate, can interfere with some antibiotics, but then doesn't say which ones. http://health.yahoo.
Avatar m tn Hi - Minocycline may give you a false negative on an STD test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. (Any antibiotic would.) Depending on the dose, it may cure gonorrhea, though there is some resistance to it now with certain strains of gonorrhea. It MAY prevent you from getting it, but the studies done that showed it would are quite old, and were done before resistance. All that said, oral sex is lower risk, even for men who have sex with men.
Avatar m tn FYI, they do use low dose or subclinical level of antibiotics for chronic acne and rosacea. I think this is a low dose of doxy. I'll look some more though.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have been on minocycline since I was 21 (now 29) for acne. I recently went to a new family practice Dr. While I was there he noticed I was on mino and asked how long I'd been taking it. I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. Months maybe.
