Avatar n tn was wondering if you ever came up with a diagnosis for your rash under your nose...I recently developed a similar rash under both sides of my nose. Did anything help? Thanks for any info you can provide. - have a dermatologist appt on Nov 6th...will let you know what he says. Thanks.
Avatar f tn She does not have colic - can be soothed - but just keeps getting more and more formula. I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar f tn Hello, Most of the breast-fed babies develop lactose intolerance which usually self corrects but not always if it is a cow milk or a formula milk "problem" or allergy/intolrance with some dietary ingredient. Most babies with milk allergy are allergic to cow’s milk protein, while others are allergic to soy protein, and some to both. Breast-fed infants normally have stools that look like watery, yellow cottage cheese.
Avatar n tn Hi! Congratulations on the birth of your baby! I have 4 children, all were breastfed, and one had milk allergy. She didn't have bloody stools when she came in contact with milk, but did get severe hives, even if she just touched milk. She didn't outgrow this until she was 2. I too had to stop drinking all dairy products. Lookout for milk hidden in certain products, like candy bars, and processed foods. You can check out the food allergy network for products that are milk free.
964234 tn?1331949207 t have the rash at his last appointment. Doctor dismissed the thought of an allergy to milk because of this. Now that he has this rash I am starting to wonder? Any thoughts and experience would be appreciated. Also, the doctor was saying switching him to soy would probably make his gas and constipation worse? But, she said I can give it a try if I want. Another thought of hers is that he has an immature digestive system. I can use which ever formula I want, he will still be fussy.
Avatar m tn Soy allergy is most common in children, especially toddlers and infants. As you grow older, your digestive system matures and your body is less likely to absorb food or food components that trigger allergies. In some cases, people who are allergic to wheat, beans (legumes), milk or other foods can have an allergic reaction to soy. You can confirm this by blood test to see for raised IgE levels and skin testing for soy products.
Avatar f tn He does however have a severe Milk allergy that he may not outgrow. He also has severe GERD, worse than expected, so he is scheduled for an Upper GI at childrens hospital next week. The Pediatric GI took Conner off of Prevacid(will explain at the end of this update) but raised his Zantac to the max which is 1.5 ML's twice daily. He also has me giving him 1 tsp of Dark Karo syrup 2-3 times a day mixed in his bottle for constipation(it's working).
Avatar f tn To find out whether your child is having contact dermatitis to milk(eczema)or he is having milk allergy(rashes are present in the mild form of milk allergy),skin tests and food challenge tests have to be done by an allergist.Pls consult him for that. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn If I was unable to breastfeed I woulkd give my little one goats milk fo rsure which is most like breast milk then any other milk on th emarket. Hope this helps ya!
Avatar f tn So I work in a milk bank which includes mixing breast milk for the the infants in the hospital. Two weeks ago I accidentally splashed breast milk on my face. I immediately washed it off. I was wanting to the chances of hiv transmission. Thank you I am freaking out a little because I started to develop a rash on my arms. Thank you.
961466 tn?1247550382 Please take her to the hospital or dr and have them do an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis if they rule that out it could be a milk protein allergy in which you would have to eliminate all milk from your diet if breastfeeding or you need to switch formula. But please have your dr rule out pyloric stenosis asap. If she is not keeping anything down you should consider taking her to the hospital, infants dehydrate VERY quickly.
Avatar f tn Continued that day then diarrhea for approx 4 to 5 days. Recently a GI diagnosed possible DELAYED MILK Allergy. He does keep a mild bumpy rash on upper arms. My concern is can this type of allergy really cause this type of cycle? I would think he would have more symptoms closer together. We began NO milk protein diet& scheduled MRI next month. Will MRI only show brain or can they see intestinal problems as well?

Avatar m tn Adults cannot get HIV from breast milk. That only applies to infants because their immune systems are immature. Also, breast milk only becomes a risk (to infants) after consistent ongoing breast feeding. You don't have an HIV concern.
Avatar m tn Remember that allergies are in the same category as autoimmune disorders. The things we're allergic to are not in fact generally harmful to us, though sometimes we are allergic to things that are harmful, such as cow's milk or toxins in our environment. If this is in fact an allergy problem, you want to try to tamp down or balance the immune system response, if you can do that.
Avatar f tn My baby has like a rash on her face, it started with little red bumps and now her whole cheeks are red with the same bumps, idk if its allergy or a rash, is that normal? Or what can i do for it to go away? I dont like seeing my baby like that :( any advice please?
317245 tn?1258737545 The pediatrician said it could be a form of a milk allergy and to put him on soy milk. He has been on soy milk for a month now and the rash is gone but his stools are still horribly loose. In order to keep the stools from being completely liquid we have to feed him the BRATTY diet, and this only gets the stool to a "sludge" consistency not even anything remotely formed. He probably has 4 or 5 dirty diapers a day. I also give him a daily dose of probiotics.
2065896 tn?1373685384 I take cortisone nose spray and anti histamine tablets to no avail. I have had allergy tests that have come back negative but food allergy tests have come back with a number of food allergies. Could a food allergy cause a runny nose?
Avatar f tn You could have an allergy to eggs/milk... try lactose-free milk and avoid eggs and see what happens. You haven't given enough information for anyone to guess (we are only guessing here) if you have serious symptoms. What is your resting heart rate, you blood pressure, how irregular - constant or just intermittent (say a missing or extra beat every few seconds)?
Avatar f tn He has been allergy tested and milk tested. He has a small allergy to milk but not high. He is on rice milk and doing well. However it seem to be when he has a certain amount of sugar he has diarrhea and a rash the following day. I was just wondering if we should go see a gi doctor for him or not. I feel hes missing out on kid things and parties at school because of the reaction of the sugar. Is there a way to test if sugar or fructose is the problem with his tummy issues.
587663 tn?1220401559 I had and still dealing with a severe allergy to Soy Milk and it was good tasting. I had a allergy years ago and mostly hives and rash once and a while. 419158 tn?1316571604 -( The thing I dont get is this new formula that doesnt have milk or soy prducts is still making her sick! I have also asked her peds about maybe a stomach bug and he said no. Babies her age dont tend to get those, but he keeps warning me to have everyone get their flu shot so that Taylor isnt exposed to the flu! Does that make any sence??? Not to me! Im so afraid that its nothing to do with the formula but a problem with her stomach or bowels. Im living my pregnancy all over again!!!
Avatar n tn This past January I took her to an allergist who diagnosed (scratch test) her with allergy to milk, casein, corn, tomato, carrots, bannana, apple, grapes. The doctor told me to avoid these foods and do food test. She has been doing much better but something just didn't seem right. I have found that she breaks out from other foods that I give her as well... It just seems like too many foods to be possible...Last week I took her to a different allergiest for a second opinion.
Avatar m tn His immune system was attacking itself and his kidneys and intestines. Which I strongly believe his milk allergy caused it. Now that we know how sensitive he is to milk. We now know, he has a reaction 4 hours later. We have to be super strict being dairy free, but it's worth the trouble. No more problems anymore. But I don't know the answer for infants not breastfeeding, because soy is also dangerous, filled with harmones. It's definantly something to watch.
Avatar n tn After drinking alcohol the eye rash becomes much worse and causes me great pain. I have had an allergy test and are only allergic to milk and nuts. However I have discarded these foods from my diet and still have the same problem. I just wondered if the blood circulation or blood vessels around my eyes could have an effect on my eyes.
906115 tn?1344200509 I'm not lactose intolerant but I have a true milk allergy which is very rare in adults. I was diagnosed as a child but when I went to the allergist recently they said no way I would have grown out of it but when they tested me sure enough like I said I was still allergic.
