Methylphenidate and caffeine

Common Questions and Answers about Methylphenidate and caffeine

ritalin

Would it be better to take methylphenidate first and bupropion several hours later? Or just spread them out further? (Taking them at the same time creates the same anxiousness, so I'd like to stagger them.) Or should I get a lower dosage of methylphenidate? (Or does this reaction really mean I do not have ADD?) Also, I *love* coffee--but I fear caffeine on top of this mixture just makes it a bit too much. Should I switch to decaf?
- I don't smoke, I drink very rarely (alcohol doesn't aggravate my PVC's), I hardly ever touch caffeine (caffeine doesn't give me PVC's either), and I hardly exercise (too depressed). I'm a 21 y/o male and am otherwise very healthy.
Avoid alcohol because it leads to dilation of the veins and arteries, and this can steal blood away from the central circulation Reduce caffeine intake Certain postures and physical maneuvers are helpful in raising blood pressure when sitting for a prolonged time, mainly by helping use contraction of the leg muscles to pump blood back to the heart and by compressing the abdomen to reduce the amount of blood that pools in the intestinal circulation.
I have no problem taking a 2 hour nap with a full days dose of Adderal on board unless I add caffeine to it. Without the Adderal and caffeine, I can very easily sleep upwards of 17 hours a day. All other blood and urine tests have come back normal and I am generally in good health aside from that. I am tired of being tired. What's next?
Ritalin (methylphenidate), Concerta (a long lasting capsule form of methylphenidate), Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine), Adderall (a mixture of amphetamines) and Cylert (pemoline) are sometimes called "stimulants". When prescribed for people who have ADHD, they stimulate the frontal parts of the brain which are not inhibiting ("filtering out") distractions as well as they should. The medications work similarly to caffeine. They are not tranquilizers or sedatives.

This summer I *DID* take more than 60 for about a month (don't know what I was thinking), but dropped back down to 60/day and have been on 60 again for a least a month now, but for the last several days I've taken much, much less because I'm having chest tightness and trouble breathing. I went to ER and they said it wasn't a heart attack. I think excessive amounts of caffeine may also be a factor.
He is also socially anxious and has a low self esteem. After reducing food intolerances such a milk, caffeine etc. and fruit shakes with Omega 3, Vitamin B complexes etc. he stills needs more help. His pediatrician uses both concerta and adderall. we would like to also entertain strattera but may not be able to get it in Canada..We are actually opposed to using any drugs but his social issues lead us to see he needs more help thatn we alone can give him. How do we know which drug would be best?
I have found them to help with my syncope and chest pains associated with MVPD/MVPS and POTS. It alleviates 90% of my symptoms. The Toprol XL does the rest....
also since i have started taking it my muscles (especially in my back) have started getting sorer and sorer. today my back is extremely sore as are my legs, and my feet and hands are cold, almost even numb. should i be worried? back to my pulse, my family doctor performed alot of test but said that he could not find the reason for it being so rapid. he told me to slowly ween myself off of caffine and eventually stop drinking any. i have reduced my caffine intake to about 24oz.
Concerta is methylphenidate, the same thing as Ritalin, except in a long-lasting 12hr capsule. Methylphenidate is a mild stimulant, stronger than caffeine but not so strong as amphetemines. It works by increasing the dopamine levels in the brain. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter - ergo the pill works by letting the brain signals work faster and more efficiently. "Misfires" and "Clutter-thoughts" are negated.
I don't have MS but I have had experience with real Provigil and fake Provigil BCBS won't cover Provigil, even with dramatic results of a sleep study and literally my going to sleep at the wheel.Even with excessive caffeine I never woke up and most of my days were spent napping. The authentic Provigil samples from the Doctor and the Modafinil, manufactured in Canada, sold at Walmart in US (BUT THE PILLS ARE STAMPED PROVIGIL) are not the same.
I've tried caffeine and it makes no difference whatsoever. And I mean quite a bit of caffeine, like a few nodoz pills, or a couple of the "extra caffeine" Rockstar drinks with 250 mg caffeine each. This is a withdrawal symptom I've never heard of from anybody anywhere online regarding diphenhydramine. It's always the opposite - they can't sleep without it. I am thinking after taking it for so long, it's just completely messed up my cholinergic brain chemistry.
increasing intake of folic acid and the B vitamins; eating foods high in zinc and magnesium; eliminating caffeine from the diet; and avoiding artificial sweeteners, colors and dyes. Prognosis There is presently no cure for tic disorders, and there is no evidence that early treatment alters prognosis. When a child is first evaluated, it is not possible to determine whether the tics will be chronic or transient, mild or severe.
I have primary hypersomnia and severe airborne allergies. I have been taking methylphenidate SA 20 mg 2-3 x/day (with occassional medication vacation days every few weeks) for the past 6 months with no significant side effect. This past August, I began having severe allergic reactions to eating grains and I also began allergy shots. Most recently, I have developed PVCs - most prevalent after eating grains (okay, I cannot resist sometimes!!!
It acts via the brain’s GABA and serotonin systems, which are both important in controlling anxiety. Avoid caffeine. People with anxiety disorders hyper react to stimulants, such as caffeine. Obviously I wasn't an addict at that point, but due to many circumstances as I hit high school I learned to cope through videogames, porn (not obsessively, but routinely), caffeine, and marijuana soon after.
I know all too well the sheer misery of withdrawal symptoms and post-acute withdrawal. I look back with horror (and I'm glad I do -- I never want to forget how awful withdrawal was -- so that I NEVER need to go through it again as long as I'm on this earth). It will be months before I'm back to where I was before I had ever heard of Vicodin.
I've tried so hard to do without meds, using fish oils and exercise, avoiding alcohol and getting proper sleep. However, this is simply just not cutting it and so recently I decided to try Dexedrine at a very low dose. At 1.25-2.5 mg it was easier on my heart rate than Adderall, but still I could notice a definite, although fleeting chest discomfort (like a little bit of pain and pressure). I do not want to try a TCA or MAOI nor add a beta blocker to a stimulant.
of non stop porn, i got tired after a while and just stopped ! and yes it has an e.d.-like effect. but trust me, it "goes away" just take a break. h.
