Methylphenidate and caffeine

Common Questions and Answers about Methylphenidate and caffeine

ritalin

Avatar m tn Would it be better to take methylphenidate first and bupropion several hours later? Or just spread them out further? (Taking them at the same time creates the same anxiousness, so I'd like to stagger them.) Or should I get a lower dosage of methylphenidate? (Or does this reaction really mean I do not have ADD?) Also, I *love* coffee--but I fear caffeine on top of this mixture just makes it a bit too much. Should I switch to decaf?
Avatar f tn The medicine often works best when used together with special help in school and behavior modification procedures at home and school. Some youngsters and families also benefit from individual, family, or group psychotherapy. If stimulant medications do not help, or cause side effects that are a problem, you can discuss other medications with the doctor." Avatar f tn I just found out I was pregnant. I have been on 2 10/325 3 times a day since December since I broke my kneecap and found out I have a very rare wrist condition I was supposed to have surgery on on the 22 nd. I also have ADHD and been on Ritalin. I have weened myself down by a half a pill a day. Yesterday was the last one and I feel terrible. My back hurts I have no energy and I can't think straight. How long will this last and how bad will it be to come off the Ritalin?
Avatar n tn Nowadays I eat really well, exercise everyday (yoga, kickboxing and running) and am a vegetarian. I use lots of teas and plants. Does anyone know a natural solution to help concentration? I wouldn't wanna take Adderal or anything of the sort. I'm experimenting with 5HTP and although it does wonders for my moods I don't think it helps in this way.
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 60mg 3 times a day for about 1.5 years i believe, and have never had a problem before. This summer I *DID* take more than 60 for about a month (don't know what I was thinking), but dropped back down to 60/day and have been on 60 again for a least a month now, but for the last several days I've taken much, much less because I'm having chest tightness and trouble breathing. I went to ER and they said it wasn't a heart attack.
Avatar f tn No seizures (my diagnosis is JME and I get grand mals) whatsoever and no photosensitive reactions. Hope this helps you in your decision. I think it's well worth it!
Avatar n tn My son is 9yrs old and he is currently on concerta and I can not continue to afford the medication please I truly need some kind of help. I make to much for medicaid and CHIPS. Please help me. Thanks, Ms.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently put on methylphenidate for my resistant depression and today was the first day I took it, I felt super for the first 3 hours maybe, but then a little shaky and fatigue, is this normal on the first day? I also take lorazepam for my severe anxiety and i want to know if there's any adverse reaction, I mean my psychiatrist put me on this just want to know if my reaction is normal, other than that the first 3 hours I felt super fine the depression decrease tremendously.

Avatar f tn Regrettably, much of the literature and promotion of the drug in recent years has ignored or understated the potency and abuse potential of methylphenidate and Ritalin. This appears to have misled many physicians into prescribing the drug as a quick-fix for learning and behavior problems. I want to emphasize that matters of this kind are vital but cannot be simplified.
Avatar f tn your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive. Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Avatar f tn Prescribed 20 mg methylphenidate three times daily. How do I determine if this is correct dosage? My PCP tested me 5 years ago but until I started going to counseling I hadn't taken it seriously, after seeing a counselor last year, she ASKED me if I'd ever been tested for ADHD and I was shocked but it became obvious when I started researching. It's very overwhelming at times but I'm past the denial stage and currently learning how to cope.
Avatar m tn i am taking methylphenidate two times a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon i'm fine in the morning because i go back to sleep when it is time to take my next dose after i do it makes me sick and have a headache and i am also taking 4mg of lexapro what should i do?
Avatar f tn s syndrome, angina, heart failure, heart rhythm disorder, recent heart attack, a hereditary condition such as fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, or severe anxiety, tension, or agitation. Methylphenidate may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Concerta should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction.

5757880 tn?1395578022 Hi Everyone! I have a 10 year old son who is diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, SPD/IPD and rule out of Asperger's/PDD in 2013. Currently, we have him on Methylphenidate ER 30mg per day, but lately we have been noticing issues. Mind you, the school hasn't been very helpful this year with information on how he is doing so I can only go by the vague messages received... the first 6 months, they say he was great!
Avatar f tn I've been intravenously using methamphetamine on a daily basis for over a year now. I am currently shooting about 1 to 1.5 grams a days. I am to have oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth in at 9 am tomorrow and I used a little less than .5 grams at 10am today. Is 23-24 hrs enough of a time lapse between using and the surgery. I have a high metabolism, am 31 years old, a male and grew up taking ritalin(methylphenidate) until I was about 16. I've used meth on and off since that age.
6104130 tn?1379185811 If it was Tardive Dykinesia, why would any of my tics or tremors get better when I take Omega 3 or Coenzyme Q 10 or respond well to herbs like Valerian and Chamomile. Same with exercise? I have no tics or tremors after exercise and I can move really well. I don't have facial grimacing, that and my movements aren't constant or repititve. They're simply a sudden jolt or twitch, or a little shaking. If I had it I wouldn't be able to control it...not this easily.
Avatar f tn I recently began taking adderall for ADHD and extreme fatigue and exhaustion caused by Lyme. When i started taking it, the Morgellons skin symptoms became significantly worse. There are fibers and deeply embedded, thick filaments projecting from lesions on my face. (Quick Morgellons lesson: the fibers/filaments in the lesions are made of keratin and collagen produced by skin cells as a response to a complex bacterial infection. The keratin and collagen are produced in massive quantities.
Avatar f tn Available data for Amphetamines suggest no increase in the risk of malformation when used at therapeutic doses, while infants might have slightly lower birth weights. Human data on Methylphenidate is limited and we cannot rule out the risk of malformation given the available information. Alternative pharmacologic treatment options include tricyclic antidepressants, bupropion and clonidine; these drugs have more evidence to support their safety in pregnancy." from - http://www.
Avatar m tn is this mix ok? i used to take Wellbutrin and Lamictal, but now only Lamictal. my therapist feels i need something to boost my concentration and Wellbutrin didnt work.
Avatar f tn I suffered 27 years following a tbi. With normal MRI and CT and no seizure I was told my symptoms were CONVERSION DISORDER. I KNEW this was not psychological in any way. BUT the more I tried to get help ;the more the doctors were convinced I as malingering, faking, delusional or worst. IT HAS BEEN the most difficult life barely able to take care of myself and only suicide made sense.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar m tn She has been diagnosed with cirrhosis stage 1 5 years ago, and doctors says she is doing well and that the liver function is good. Her tests are well says the doctors and she does not drink any alcohol. I am not sure, but suspects that she has been using legal drugs such as synthetic cathinones (N ethyl hexedrone, methylphenidate) not very often but on multiple occasions as well as xanax. My question is if occasional use by itself will cause further damage to her liver.
